The Outlaws (2021)
Not Liking Season Two
Let me start by saying that I loved the first season. The second season, not so much. Feels forced, and I haven't been able to make it through episode three. I've tried a few times, but just switch to something else after a few minutes.
Reacher (2022)
Very Well Done
I'd give this series a 10, but it had a few nonsensical plot issues. Minor wouldn't happen that way things, and what was obvious to me of who did what. Not going to do a spoiler. That being said, I thoroughly enjoyed each action packed episode. The writing/dialogue were top notch, as well as the stellar sound effects and cinematography to complete a well crafted product. Many times I felt actual fear and trepidation during unfolding events. I will keep my eyes peeled for a season two and look forward to binge watching the next series as soon as they are available.
Magnum P.I.: Close to Home (2022)
I'm out.
Not a fan of Magnum & Higgins becoming romantically involved. The, will-they-won't-they, underlying attraction of lead characters is ruined by them becoming a couple. I'm old enough to remember Remington Steele & Moonlighting jumping the shark by making the leads into romantic couples. From this episode forward, Magnum P. I. will become mostly relationship drama. More so than it already was. On Top of that, their kiss at the end was super awkward. So, I'm likely done with this reboot. Back to the Tom Selleck reruns.
Magnum P.I.: Blood Brothers (2019)
Orange Man Bad, Human Trafficking Good.
This episode was a pro open borders, America sucks and always has story. I've watched every episode of this reboot. And despite the sub par acting and cheesy stories, I have enjoyed the series. Mostly because of the Hawaiian scenery and the chemistry between Magnum and Higgins. I only wish they would have avoided the political preaching that was this particular story line, with even worse performances delivered by secondary characters and the over the top guest star. Simply awful!
The Rookie: The Dark Side (2019)
Silence of the Bosch
I want to like this series, but I am about to give up and delete it from my DVR's record settings. I understand that it is necessary, when writing fiction, to keep the situations intense. And by doing so, most situations will not reflect realities or possibilities. So we must suspend our disbelief and allow our imaginations to enjoy a thrill ride. That being said, this episode was completely ridiculous, far fetched and derivative. Heck, the dude''s a "rookie" cop and on a special assignment with a female Hannibal Lecter. Plus, the whole narrative is similar to a Bosch episode. This series started out as a story about a mid-forties-man reinventing himself as a LAPD officer, and all the emotions, struggles, challenges and triumphs he encountered as he patrolled the mean streets of Los Angeles. Although I loved the missile scare episode, I really would love to see this series move back to the original story-lines involving the "rookies'" encounters with the citizens of the once great city of Los Angeles.
