1883 (2021)
Elsa...and some other people too
This really was about Elsa or at least that how the series came across to me. Loved the first few episodes and the cinematography was gorgeous. Then Elsa meets a guy, hook up, he dies, she is devastated for about two minutes to hook up with a very handsome Indian. And just how long does it take for her to die. I cry at the Christmas commercial when the son comes home from college so I'm pretty sentimental but I was really ready for her to move on to the ranch in the sky. And why couldn't the mom go with her husband and dying daughter to the place she has picked to die? That made no sense. Mostly ok overall but those last few episodes brought the star rating down for me.
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991)
A great Sunday afternoon movie
I like this movie as its got just what I want on a rainy weekend afternoon. Some romance, some swashbuckling, a hero, a great villain, some humor oh and Alan Rickman who I have had a crush on since Sense and Sensibility. He is the best part of the film. I just watched it again on a snowy Sunday afternoon and it just hit the spot. Did I mention it has Alan Rickman...
Da Vinci's Demons (2013)
Some adventure, some romance
However I like it enough as a story to keep watching. Lots of interesting costumes and backdrops plus the apparatus' that Davinci comes up with are pretty nifty whether any are actually based on some of his inventions. Acting is pretty good if a little over the top at times for our hero. My only critique is the women's costumes. A lot of the dresses looked like the ladies had just got back from a shopping trip to Macy's. Awfully modern for the time period but history it ain't.
Field of Dreams (1989)
May we all have such dreams
Even seeing this movie several times and just recently again, still makes me smile and brings tears.
Signs (2002)
Swing away!
First time I watched this movie, wasn't sure what to think about it. Watched it again a year later and is now one of my favorite movies. Scared me though both times. I don't like all of Shamalyans movies but this one I love and of course Sixth Sense. The acting; the kids are great and Joaquin is perfect. When he sees the alien the first time on the TV, his reaction was perfect.
Grace and Frankie (2015)
Loved the first couple seasons....then
Got really tired of Frankie. She's not even a believable character anymore. Who the heck would put up with her. Charming and fun for a while but has become too slapstick and just plain dumb.
Maine Cabin Masters (2017)
Love this show
I started watching this show last year. I was browsing through channels on a Sunday afternoon and picked this. After the first episode I was hooked. The builders are very personable and can't beat the location.
New Amsterdam (2018)
Oh brother...
I was really hoping for something new and this sure isn't it. Good looking doctors, a handy Ambassador and don't forget the soulful mood music. As soon as that started, in the first episode, I checked myself out of New Amsterdam. Give me St. Elsewhere!
Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol (2011)
What a blast!!
One of the best opening sequences ever and with a great Deal Martin song as background.
This is the movie that got me hooked on the MI series. I grew up watching the TV series so wondered how the films would be. I like them all with this as my favorite so far. Like Tom Cruise or not he is in his element. Great action, a little humor with Simon Pegg and exciting story. What's not to like.
