Hating Peter Tatchell (2021)
A real must-watch film.
With a wealth of archive material, this film shows the dedication of Peter Tatchell, fighting for human rights for his entire adult life. Whilst some of his actions have been controversial, such as the 'outing' of gay bishops, his aim has always been the betterment of society, and he is a shining example to us all.
200 Proofs Earth Is Not a Spinning Ball (2015)
Tedious and irritating
A friend made me warch this on You Tube, but I couldn't stand ir. After half an hour I was at screaming point with this guy's irritating droning of drivel. I had to make my excuses and leave.
A huge number of his supposed "proofs" are virtually the same asinine argument. This nonsende is being fully dismantled in fine detail, in a series of short videos, by Greater Sapien on You Tube.
Swallows and Amazons (1974)
A wonderful feel-good film
This is one of greatest films ever made, based on one of the greatest books ever written.
Set in the 1930's the film portrays a group of children, The Swallows, having a holiday in the English Lake District. The 1930's atmosphere is perfectly captured, both in the use of period-correct props and costumes, and the portrayal of a much gentler and slower-paced way of life.

After borrowing a boat named 'Swallow", the four children go looking for adventure... and they find it in great bucket-loads. After meeting two local girls, The Amazons, who live by the lake, they engage in mock battles, encounter a serpent, and end with finding some hidden treasure.
Bootleg (2002)
Excellent viewing
I thought this was a great little series, well made and relevant, it was very good family viewing. The central premise of the series is "What would happen if they banned chocolate?" It is an obvious analogy to the current prohibition of Cannabis, which makes just as little sense. Very good to spark intelligent debate with your children.
Reviewers have mentioned that this was filmed in Australia but set in the U.K. I have to admit that I hardly noticed this, I suppose we get so used to seeing Aussie T.V. programmes in the U.K. that they now feel as familiar as U.K. made programmes. Actually that made me start wondering just how many U.K. programmes get watched in Australia?
Escape from Sobibor (1987)
An important historical document
This film affected me like no film ever has ever done, or is likely to do in the future. It is not a glitzy Hollywood production and is all the more effective as a result. I have seen accounts in print and on the internet detailing the true events at Sobibor and this film is a factual account with very few details changed. Sobibor was a stinking hell-hole and this comes across very well in the film. This film should be compulsory viewing in all schools to warn against the evils of racism. When the prisoners finally get the upper hand and start killing the Nazi SS pigs I found myself cheering at the top of my voice. I first saw this film in the 80's on October the 14th the day the breakout occurred, which also happens to be my birthday and maybe because of that I feel very involved with the story, also because my family is partly Jewish. I have seen it many times since and it never loses it's impact.
