The Tunnel (2011)
Easily my new favorite "found footage" movie!
I know a lot of people hate this subgenre of horror, but I have a soft spot for it. It's the only type of horror that really gives me chills and scares me these days. And somehow, I didn't see this until now!
A FREE horror movie? Must totally be some high school project right? Nope. It is incredibly impressive.
I don't want to give anything away, but watch it in the dark with headphones.
It reminds me A LOT of "The Descent", but in the spooky, abandoned underground of Sydney.
It's dark, It's eerie, It has scares, It's atmospheric, It's very well done.
Stop reading this review and check it out! Will definitely have a permanent spot on my October horror film rotation from now on.
Ozark (2017)
Exact opposite of intense
Soo, unlike the other 1 star reviewers I don't think Netflix is trying to "push the liberhul agenduh!!!" on us with this show. I just think this show is extremely boring and dull.
Firstly, everything is tinted blue. Why? Are they just forcing the "dark and gritty" effect to try to make it dark and gritty? Because it's not. Nothing happens in any episode that makes you want to quickly watch the next one. "Oh no we have to work for these drug dealers or theyll kill my family oh noo lets do nothing but sit in this cabin all day and breathe heavily at eachother with grumpy faces"
Secondly, the gay cop(s) and the redneck. First I want to mention I'm gay myself. Secondly. I just want to ask.. why? Yea, another why. See, I don't think that Netflix is doing this to make the right clutch their pearls and get offended. I think they just pushed it in there just so people will go "Ooo ahhhh gasp! gay people!". The fact that they're gay has literally NOTHING to do with the story. It's a completely unecessary subplot. The feds are supposed to be there to track down suspects. Why is he making out with trailer trash? Why do we need to watch them have sex? Again, completely pointless.
In conclusion. There is no intensity. No "gripping" storytelling. It's a boring Narcos/Breaking Bad wanna-be. I hope Netflix cancels it or somehow dramatically improves it. Their money could be better used working on something else that is actually interesting. I love Jason Bateman and wanted it to be good. Oh well.
Life with Derek (2005)
Classic Disney Channel
Back when the Disney Channel had good shows like The Weekenders and Kim Possible, they also had shows like this inbetween them. What really makes me remember this one more is that unlike every disney channel live action show, this one didn't have a laugh track AND it was still funny! If anyones going on a nostalgic Disney Channel binge, definitely add this to your watchlist.
Insidious: The Last Key (2018)
Great ending
I watched it with low expectations due to a bit of negative reviews on here. I found it better than chapter 3, maybe even chapter 2. Plot twists, good scares and more Elise. It ties together some plot points from previous movies and ends the series nicely. Definitely worth watching.
