NCIS: Sydney (2023– )

Maybe it will get better?
13 November 2023
The first ten minutes of episode 1 were painful - a combination of very wooden acting and a lot of over acting as the actors tried to inform you about the nature their characters as quickly as possible.

And they seemed to all be trying to imitate characters from the other NCIS shows to the point that they seemed to be intentionally being parodies of those other characters.

If you ignore the rather silly and cliched story line it did start to get a bit better for the rest of the episode, as the actors settled in to a less over the top approach to their roles.

It is a show that has potential if the writers can come up with original and interesting stories, and the actors stop trying to be other characters and get a chance (if the show lets them) to develop something unique.

But I'm not holding my breath...

Boring, pointless, and massively overhyped movie.
20 March 2023
I went to watch this movie expecting an interesting and quirky sci-fi movie. After all, it had won lots of Oscars, so it must be good, right?

What I got was a boring, confusing, and largely pointless mess.

And the ending seemed to suddenly jump tracks from one explanation of what was happening to a completely different one. It wasn't like it was a great twist like some movies have, it was more of a "we tricked you, ha!" change in direction.

I'm now questioning all the 9 and 10 star reviews here. Are they fake? Or are some of them from people that just want to ride the "me too" train because they don't want to admit they didn't like it and didn't understand it?

As for the Academy Awards, what are these people thinking? Clearly they can no longer be trusted to judge a movie based on what has appeal to the general public, rendering themselves redundant.
