Imperfect quality
24 September 2017
Sabrás qué hacer conmigo presents some quite elevated standards for an independent production, for any production really. The theme is not very mainstream and tone sets itself apart from other commercial Mexican productions that have been a trend in the last couple years. The photography and cinematography are beautifully made and the sound effects provide depth and immersion for the public. However, in substance, the script and the story itself are far from perfect, instead i found myself thinking is this a story worth telling? does it make up for its beautiful scenery? It presents different points of views, so its interesting to see the story from both sides and then evolve into a shared space, but i wonder what it adds in the sake of storytelling. At the very end, the film becomes confusing, diffuse and weirdly timed. I think the director does have potential and could provide something really good if she worked a better story.

Just a bad documentary

"Ashley Madison: sex, lies and cyber attacks" if full of narrative flaws, and footage that gives little to no help at all in the retail of the facts. With uninteresting opinions of guests a lack of order in the telling of the situation, and an uncomfortable aesthetic, "Ashley Madison..." ends up being unclever documentary that fails as well in the transmission of an opinion.

Noir on journalism

"Ace in the hole" is a film about the press and its vices. Tatum seeks opportunity in misfortune. It might as well be a film on misfortune. The essence of the movie hides within its complete dirtiness and darkness: the characters, the relationships, the outcome, the way events are seen so mockingly and weightless.

This is not a pretty movie in the classical sense of the word, but with great composition, good acting and a convincing storyline, it manages to do justice to a very ______ topic.

Good, but overrated

Warning: Spoilers
I watched "Get Out" with extremely high expectations. I really wanted to love this movie, unfortunately it did not happen. Maybe it was the average cinematography, or the sometimes enjoyable, sometimes over the top sidekick, maybe it was the Microsoft participation that looked like sponsorship, maybe I should've stayed after the credits.

Although I liked the speech it portrays throughout the film and is, in general terms, and original premise, I do feel like the film relies too much on the music to create the tension and set the tone, and that's a major inconvenient, at least for my personal taste.

Get out is a good film, but does exhibit some flaws i was not warned about by the critics.

A realistic approach to medicine

Hiporcrates is a French film that revolves around a young intern, Benjamin and his discovery of life as a doctor, as he begins to recognize negligence and pain in his own surroundings. The relationships among the characters are often tender, but never stop being conscious and logical.

With a realistic and low-key dialogue (and very subtle humour), beautifully constructed and believable characters, Hipocrates manages brake with the godly-like portrayal of doctors to make a smart film that acknowledges an often neglected and ignored issue as the medical situation and the treatment of human pain.

An okay film for a better story

For as much as I appreciate the effort in keeping the storyline sober and factual, the movie does lack the rhythm, pause and intimacy a 160 minute thriller should be having, not to mention the characters never quite get where they should be going.

I would have loved to watch a film that gets progressively dark and tense, while constructing an atmosphere appropriate for its time and events that is as well, reflected in the dialogue.
