Superbad (2007)
Was looking Forward to this movie all year, very disappointed
This movie had some really funny moments, but these moments were not funny enough to get me passed its vulgar nature. I am not sure how this movie was only rated R. The first few minutes were very uncomfortable. I enjoyed 40 Year Old Virgin and Knocked Up so I thought that I would also enjoy this movie. I was wrong. This movie was by far more foul than the others. The character, Seth, was by far the most vulgar and did not really seem to mature or learn anything throughout this movie. I think that if the language was toned down this movie would have been much better. I really enjoyed the relationship between the police officers and McLovin. I also enjoyed some of the crude humor. Some of it was pretty clever. I just don't think there is any need to use the f word so much and be so graphic about sex.
Spider-Man 3 (2007)
Pretty good, but too long and a little sloppy
I was a little nervous to see spider-man 3 when it first came out because I heard it was around 2 hours and 20 minutes. I am one fan who believes that Hollywood is getting lazy by not limiting themselves to to movies that are 1-2 hours long (perferably somewhere in the middle). In result these movies have scenes that are too long and less polished. My fears were correct for Spider-man 3. There were scenes that lingered on for a while. I don't understand why the camera needs to rotate around Peter Parker's face when he is questioning his life. This takes too long. There were a lot of scenes that were necessary in building the story and mood, but there was too much story. Too many villains. Too much stuff going on. A good deal of the audience left the theater before the movie was over.
There was also one scene where the police were looking for the sandman, but the camera was so jerky that it was hard for me to focus on what was going on.
Hollywood needs to stop making movies over two hours long. At least this should be rare. This should not be the new standard. I understand that some movies have are tightly made that last this long.
The final fight scene was good, the peter parker Mary Jane stuff was good.
Snakes on a Plane (2006)
One of the Best Movie Going Experiences of My Life!
First of all I want to say that this movie had great promotions. When I got that call from Samuel L. Jackson on Tuesday you better believe I was excited, and even though this was the movie that I had been anticipating all summer, I knew at that moment I had to be in that theater on opening night! Also I don't know if any of you have visited the official website but seeing the music video and some links such as Snakes on a Kindergarden caused me to squeal with joy.
This is a must see for this summer! I'm just going to warn you that when you go to the theater you might want to wear plenty of support or else suffer the consequences of getting your balls totally blown off! Seriously, this movie is that good! The action sequences are bad ass! I found myself giving out high fives through out the movie. There were no slow moments. The CG was pretty amazing. Some of the best 3-D snakes that I have seen in movies. The shots of the plane flying are also done pretty good. And when Jackson delivered his most awesome line Snakes flew throughout the theater!
Also the types of snake bites in this movie are amazing!
I hope that this movie surpasses Titanic!
Puddle Cruiser (1996)
Stereotypical Bad Student Film
I rented this movie because the DVD cover made it look like it was going to be a ridiculous college comedy like van wilder or animal house. I took it to my friend house to watch for movie night. We ended up stopping it 15 minutes into the film, and watched Copper Mountain instead. I don't know if any of you have seen Copper Mountain, but it isn't great either. However, I would have to say that the Alan Thick Jim Carrey Duo made it a more enjoyable watch.
I later finished Puddle Cruiser. This movie was slow and the humor was forced. This movie reminded me of some stinkers that I saw in some of my earlier production classes in college. I was left wondering "was this the film that enabled Broken Lizard to make Supertroopers?" Also how could this movie suck so bad? Supertroopers was good and Club Dread was decent. Don't see this movie!
