30 Rock: Live from Studio 6H (2012)
Still the most intelligent comedy I know
I get the feeling that the acknowledgment for 30 Rock is declining since season four. I got to know this show because of it's Emmy recognition and it's constant praise, but for the last seasons it calmed down.
There were some weak plot lines and episodes but there are still so many intelligent jokes in every episodes that I'm almost frustrated at the end of every episode that I only got a fraction of them. I think this is great because by re-watching the show you will always discover more details and subtle hints.
This live show even overdoes the first live show. There were so many great moments. I loved the Dr. Spaceman Parts the most...all the great guest stars (It's still funny to see the serious Don Draper in a comedy role)and a bunch of intelligent references like Hazel ripping apart the picture of Sinead O'Connor. This show definitely needs more acknowledgment for it's greatness...
PS: "Nine out of 10 doctors said "Who is this? Why are you calling so late?" but the 10th guy was into it."
Breaking Bad: Problem Dog (2011)
The Best episode of this Season so far
There were many complaints claiming the show jumped the shark (like the review for the previous episode) and I have to admit that it slowed down the pace and felt a bit static sometimes. Nevertheless, it was still above average from all the other shows on TV right now and I wouldn't agree that it jumped the shark. One proof is this episode full of great, intense moments:
Firstly, this episode opens a new storyline involving Jesse trying to kill Gus. Some might say that his rapid decision to agree to Walt's plan is unbelievable but it promises a lot of suspenseful scenes in future episodes (and in this as well of course!).
The episode goes on with the intense scene at the self-help group: Aaron Paul shows us again why he deserved an Emmy when he cries his heart out. For me, this even was his best performance so far.
The biggest bang comes up in the end when Hank has new information for the DEA. I ended up with an open mouth after this cliffhanger and it sure as hell will speed up the pace of the show.
All in all, the first highlight of this season and hopefully not the last one.
It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Dennis and Dee's Mom Is Dead (2007)
What was that?
I'm really torn about this episode...at first, I was shocked by the absolute macabre dealing of the Mom's dead. When I read the episode's title, I was very interested in how they would deal with such a theme but eventually it was great black humour and I have the feeling IASIP becomes darker and bolder from season to season which I like... But I was really disappointed by the storyline involving Dee and Frank pretending to be a couple. The biological father who wants to watch them having sex??? They could have just denied this for no particular reason. The same with the marriage...the didn't even ask if they would get the money without marrying each other. I have not seen such a dumb storyline in a TV series in a long time... On the other hand there was the really funny storyline involving the guys searching for a party crew...I really haven't laughed so hard at a TV series in a long time...The flyer shaped like a penis was totally hilarious. All in all a very strange episode involving both highlights and low points of the series so far.
Suspended Animation (2001)
Worst movie ever seen
This is really the worst movie I've ever seen. I've never seen such bad actors in one movie, the worst of them was Laura Esterman. She was so overacting. The movie also doesn't really have a story. First we watch two chicks torturing a man. After he fled and seemingly killed the two women, he follows a line of murders and gets to know another chick and her sadistic son (with very disgusting pimples on his neck, I almost had to puke). And you are crying at your TV "what the hell does that mean??". In the end, the two stories seem to be connected but the way the director did this was ridiculous. And what should this movie tell us?? The evil is genetically inheritable?? Really, Really bad movie. Don't even consider watching it. There's not even the promised gore and brutality in it. It could change your view on movies in a negative way.
