Parkinson: Episode #5.10 (1975)
This interview is on "Young Mr. Lincoln" DVD
You can find this interview on the Criterion Collection DVD of "Young Mr. Lincoln". Henry Fonda is 70 years old here, and still looks great. He doesn't look as ill as he did 6 years later when he appeared in "On Golden Pond". He tells stories of his life as a youth in Omaha. Fonda discusses how he started in theater in Omaha, and then moved on to the New York stage. He also discusses a movie in the pre-planning stages that was to star his son, Peter; and daughter, Jane. It was to be about the revolutionary war, and was to involve his then son-in-law, Tom Hayden. I wonder what ever happened to this potential movie? Anyway, this is worth checking out!
Adventures of Superman: The Wedding of Superman (1956)
Starring Mrs. Ed Wood
The woman named Lorraine in this episode is none other than Delores Fuller, a.k.a. Mrs. Ed Wood. Ed Wood is famous for directing "Plan 9 of Outer Space" among other "bad" movies. Ms. Fuller was portrayed by Sarah Jessica Parker in the Johnny Depp movie. I believe the Lorraine character is Lois Lane's hairdresser that she uses before the "Wedding". Delores Fuller was also famous for being Dinah Shore's stand-in. Fuller was fired when it was discovered that she had starred in Wood's movie "Jail Bait". I just watched this episode and couldn't believe it when I saw her. I had never seen her in anything but Wood's movies and was quite surprised!
ADDENDUM: It has been brought to my attention that Delores Fuller was not married to Ed Wood, but was only his girlfriend. Sorry. I apologize for the confusion on my part.
Adventures of Superman: The Unlucky Number (1956)
I enjoyed the classic sequence where Superman bends things
First of all I would like to point out that the the "Superman" comic shown on the newsstand rack is issue #101. Now on to my comments: One of the interesting things about this episode is how Superman specifically points out to Bobby that "No one can do the things that Superman does, especially fly!" This was the second show of season 4, and the network must have had some concern about kids with towels tied around their necks trying to fly off the roofs of their houses. I think that is why the whole sequence where Bobby won't answer Superman's questions unless he bends a horseshoe and a dumbbell weight was written into this show. Also, it probably was the inspiration for the Jerry Seinfeld commercials for a credit card company where Superman complains: "Fans are always asking me to bend stuff!"
