Mohan Kumar Fans (2021)
Never seen a film like this in a while. It was that horrible.
I mean, a movie so senseless and filled with forces humour, irrelevant subplots and characters that are flat. I'll say that the actors did a reasonable enough job, you did what was asked of you probably on the screen. But the reason why you chose to act in a movie with such a lousy plot is beyond me. Bobby-Sanjay has come up with a movie that is in shambles. The subplot of Mukesh being a movie producer and him going around to secure dates of actors - including Asif Ali (who does a cameo for 5 mins) is only there to increase the run time and waster the audience's time.
You are treating your audience without respect. You are thinking we will be happy watching whatever crap you will film and put out and call it cinema. The number of songs in this movie is too many, if the movie does anything successfully, it is one thing - giving me a lot of confidence, that actors are now ready to take up any kind of scripts if there's enough money to throw around. You don't love the craft, you love the money - if that was another thing you tried conveying through Mohan Kumar Fans.
Star studded cast and this is what we get. Crap. Don't waste your time. They wasted their's filming it, they are getting paid, you are not.
Dracula (2020)
What a disappointment!
Props to the CGI and good acting from the lead. So much wasted potential. If you are about to watch it, don't bother. If you already watched it, you know what I'm talking about. The show went from really promising gothic horror to a confused mess in the third episode. Thought I would be recommending this to people, but can't do that crime. This is a series you better leave in the coffin and throw in the sea.
High Life (2018)
One star for the effort, another for the blackhole's visual design
The movie is the most boring I have watched in probably the last decade. Plot is illogical and to be honest I don't have a word to describe it.
The movie lacks a driving factor. The characters lack motive and thus fails to keep us invested in it. While some scenes are beautiful, the baby was the only character that even managed to make me feel something at all.
Time in the movie constantly jumps haphazardly. A group of criminals held under control by a single woman? They are all conveniently complacent throughout the movie. The spaceship doesn't seem to have any other crew on board.
Sex seems to play a central role in some deep level meaning of the plot, but the movie fails to convey it and to keep us invested to even bother finding out about it.
Bloody hell. I hated myself for watching this movie.
The Wolf of Snow Hollow (2020)
Engaging
The movie successfully sets the atmosphere of a small snowy town haunted by a monster where the population hasn't yet taken full gravity of it, neither have the police force. As it progresses, the plot becomes more interesting, aided with really good acting from the cast, especially Cummings. The unexpected comedic turns and background scores in between sombre scenes was quirky and it strangely works in this movie. I would definitely recommend you watch this with a mug of hot chocolate, probably in the winter.
