Los Montaner (2022)
It is not as expected
I've followed Ricardo for a very long time and was excited about this opportunity to get an insider look at his growing family but this is not good. Clearly Marlene runs the show, she's dominant and has no qualms on speaking her mind. Ricardo seems like a different person, I don't know if it's the Christianity or just something else but this one seems lost and out of touch. The children are all spoiled untalented brats that think they are the last Coca Cola in the world. The daughter seems like a total diva and her husband wanna be singer is missing personality. The other kids, you can tell that they also lack the down to earthness of their dad or that he used to have. Everyone seems so high maintenance, don't think they are even trying to act, it's just how they are. I don't like the part of pushing the Christianity to everyone and everybody, not all of us are believers. I was trying to watch with an open mind but clearly this was made just for a good pay day.
The Andy Warhol Diaries (2022)
Open mind
I had no idea about Warhol's life except for his pop and Campbell's art. This documentary shows the human side of the artist. His weakness, fears, insecurities for which his only outlet would've been his art. Like most people in the industry, his brilliance had a price to pay. I respect his art, even though I am not a fan I watched this with an open mind and learned so much more.
Funny Farm (1988)
Driving Chevy into the levy.
Was kind of excited to watch this for the first time but ended up being a disappointment. Andy and Elizabeth move out of the big city into the country ;at first you'd think that it would be a good story with the interactions in their new surroundings. The mailman sequence gets old really fast, the story turns Andy into a whole different person, he is the caring husband at first but when his wife gives her opinion about something then turns into an ugly, selfish man. After things turn out different, they want to go back to basics and turn the citizens into their puppets. They have a change of heart and they reconcile like nothing. The final scene just left me rolling my eyes.
I know that 80's movies were not made with deep meanings, mostly for laughs. I've seen some Chevy Chase movies that I've enjoyed but this is not it.
A Chorus Line (1985)
If you think Flashdance and Staying Alive are bad...
You are in for a surprise, this movie is much worse. Michael Douglas is totally neurotic, all he does is scream through the film. None of the actors stand out from one another, not even Fosse's daughter. There is a pair of dancers that are a young married couple, they made me have more questions than answers, she seemed very insecure and he was 'the one in charge', it made me think that she might have been a victim of domestic abuse. Zack(Michael Douglas) never really bonded with his dancers even after they told him their life stories. There is no redemption here, he's always an a$$ and will never change. The choreographer was more interested in 'saving the girl' than anyone else, he would go away in the middle of a routine to check and talk to her. At the end, they do the dance number but all cast members are on the chorus line, even the ones that got eliminated five seconds before. If you want a musical to kill time or entertain you watch Staying Alive or Flashdance instead.
