This is an overrated flick.

I'm sorry to sound like a hater, but I found this movie to be really boring and kind of dumb. It's a great premise and I enjoyed the 70's vibe, but there was nothing in it that I found to be scary/horrifying. I realize it's a low-budget film, yet the acting, effects, and plot really lacked. In short, this movie really comes across as an amateurish, film-school short. There's a whole lot of overrating of this movie - I think that is mostly due to the fact that it is different. However, different does not mean good. I'm tired of overhyped movies like this getting buzz just so people sign up to stream it.

This was a real bore. The dog was the best part and... There are much better flicks out there.

A classic. Shirley Booth is a genius.

This is truly one of the best 60's sitcoms ever. It is so full of love and decency. AND, Shirley Booth is addictive. She makes you long for your own Hazel.

Huge disappointment

The story is so absurd that it actually invites plot holes. In the meantime, I'm gonna use an old incantation to make all other reviews invisible. Just a total let-down.

A mild thriller that needed more suspense

I enjoyed this film, but I wouldn't recommend it for someone looking for an edge-of-your-seat thriller. I found the acting to be very good, especially Beaty and Plummer.

The Keepers (II) (2017)

Great for exposing crimes of the church, but just okay for barely connecting its core story to those crimes.

Warning: Spoilers
The Keepers is good, not great. It is a very powerful documentary in terms of how the Catholic church enabled a serial pedophile, and in how it gives center stage to the brave people who stood up for themselves. Still, the seemingly central premise of Sister Catherine's murder, never really ties in to the bulk of the series. If you're hoping for compelling proof that her murder is tied to the Catholic church, the evidence of this is never strongly developed. In some ways, I finished the series more strongly convinced she was killed by a random predator than I believe it was connected to the church. On the other hand, the stories of the people who were abused by a priest, in almost full view of the church and the police, is extremely compelling and thought- provoking. I admire these people for speaking up and when the last credits rolled, I realized this series was really about providing true legitimacy to all people who have been sexually abused as children. That is the real story here - how sexual crimes against the innocent reverberate through their and other's lives for years and years. One final note is that it's clear that Sister Catherine was a very special person, and even though this documentary series doesn't deliver justice for her, it does convey an even stronger message about the way goodness can and will endure.

The Overnight (2015)
Dumb and dumber
23 April 2017
Just when you hope there's some meaning to this tripe, it sinks even further. I suppose this is what we're supposed to believe is normal in California, but this is just insulting to people, anywhere, for suggesting this is anything less than titillating garbage. What's more, there's an element of parenting to this movie that should insult any person who care about or for a child. The idea that children were used as part of the set-up is deplorable.

Really awful

Warning: Spoilers
Please don't waste your time or money on this hyped-up piece of garbage. I don't think I've ever been as disappointed in an ending (not that the beginning and middle were all that great) as I was with this stupid, illogical movie. The only spoiler I have is one of the biggest plot fails ever... she's escaped her captor by slitting his thread, she's virtually covered with blood, and the hospital simply allows her to go home, where she coyly showers it off. Totally amazing that this movie has gotten the positive press and reviews it has received - if this doesn't make you realize how incredible Hollywood hype/marketing system is at distorting reality, nothing will. I only wish I could give it a zero.
