Groundling Marsh: Truth and Consequences (1997)
The Maggie Who Cried Joke!
This is a solid episode. It has a nice take on The Boy Who Cried Wolf, as well as a lesson that everybody knows, lying is never a good thing. Maggie had to learn that out the hard way, more harder than when she was finding soil erosion in the marsh.
Groundling Marsh (1997)
A decent show.
This show is pretty underrated. It kind of reminds me of Fraggle Rock a few times, mostly because the theme music was composed by Philip Balsam and Dennis Lee and was sung by Balsam himself. Along with environmental lessons, slice of life morals, as well as several Muppet performers who previously worked on Fraggle Rock. Including Gord Robertson, Trish Leeper, Wende Welch, James Rankin, Fred Stinson, Stephen Braithwaite, Dan Redican, Jani Lauzon, and John Pattison. Gord Robertson himself later went on to work on Zoboomafoo with the Kratt Brothers. Needless to say, Groundling Marsh needs its own DVD release.
VeggieTales: Madame Blueberry (1998)
Just a weak episode.
I didn't think the episode was good or terrible, just weak, I mean, Larry and Bob crying at the end came out of nowhere, and it wasn't needed! I mean, if it just cut back to the counter top with them just fine, this could've been redeemed. While the animation not phenomenal, it's still pretty good, again, you can tell they were trying, they just didn't have the budget to do as well as Larry-Boy! and the Fib from Outer Space! or Josh and the Big Wall! but they were really trying to make it look like the previous two. The only good things I like on this video were the Salesmen's Rap and His Cheeseburger.
VeggieTales: The End of Silliness? More Really Silly Songs! (1998)
This episode should not have been a sing-along video!
What is up with this episode?! All the depressing overtones in this, it's just distracting from the songs you're suppose to sing, like you're suppose to in a sing-along video, and you're just looking at Larry and wondering if whether or not Larry's gonna go through with it, committing suicide that is. What I'm trying to say is that Larry has always been the happy-go-lucky person, he's never been this upset extensively, he is just SO torn up over losing the rights to sing his songs, that he is just lost every bit of his personality, and is instead becoming someone that would make Oscar the Grouch look happy! The only redeeming qualities we got from this were the actual petitions from Duluth, Minnesota, and the Yodeling Veterinarian of the Alps. This should not have been a sing-along video, this should've been just a regular episode, except, keep the Song of the Cebu, His Cheeseburger, and The Yodeling Veterinarian of the Alps intact. They should've at least saved the sing-along format for another video before they would get started on production for Larry-Boy and the Rumor Weed or something!
The Muppet Show: Loretta Swit (1980)
The terrible episode of the show!
This is episode is just AWFUL! I mean, this episode is really trying to make Kermit and Miss Piggy look like a couple hitting a rough patch in their relationship, and not in a funny way like in the SpongeBob episode, "Rock a Bye Bivalve." And gosh, is this just so lacking of Statler and Waldorf, that a story like this needs, because without them to back it up, it just comes off as ugly and not fun, thanks to both both Kermit and Piggy acting like idiot jerks! There was also a very easy solution to their problem. Piggy, apologize to Kermit, tell him that you're sorry! That's all he wants! I know it would defeat the purpose of the episode, but the writers should not have made a story where there's such simple SOLUTION THAT NONE OF THE CHARACTERS EVER THINK OF! The episode does end with Miss Piggy getting rehired, but no, it doesn't make up for the episode's lack of comedy, terrible plot, Kermit's temper, and just all around frustration.
