Plain boring
18 January 2023
If you make a music documentary about a studio, why wouldn't you have first a look about other such music documentaries to get an idea? There are some really good music documentaries about record labels and studios out there, for example Hitsville: The Making of Motown, Muscle Shoals, Respect Yourself The Stax Records Story, Blue Note Records - Beyond the Note, I even enjoyed way more Rudeboy The Story Of Trojan Records. I watched over 500 music documentaries. This one was just boring. Other documentaries of this kind are just more entertaining, people are more enthusiastic about the whole thing, visual more exiting etc.

Welcome to Australia
13 December 2022
Well you don't need to go in the bush to find this behaviour in Australia, you can actually find it basically everywhere. This wannabe male machismo behaving, getting drunk and then if they can't get a sheila, a group of drunk guys would attack a single male, due to their frustration that they couldn't score a girl. Reality is pretty bad, I worked in the security industry over there and had to deal with pretty bad things, I am just happy that I was able to save some life through my actions. Maybe it is time to realise for example that there is an alcohol problem over there, drug problem, violence problem, domestic violence problem, racism problem etc. I really disagree with a comment in a review saying "I have seen such places in Scandinavia and most of Europe." Well living in Europe I haven't to be constantly aware of my surroundings that someone will sneak up from the back and will hit me with a coward punch, or that I will get attacked by some drunks or a meth head etc. This is also the reason why drinking in public isn't allowed, while in Europe people just enjoy to have a drink in a park etc. Life is quiet here in Europe and for sure no police helicopters flying around the whole time nor sirens. Instead of sugar coating constantly things in Australia, it is time to acknowledge there are many problems, just like in schools should be shown The Australian Wars tv series, to start a serious discussion about how aboriginals are getting treated in their own country.

Horrific, should be shown in all Australian schools.

Warning: Spoilers
A country obsessed with war and commemoration, but this story is non-existent at the war memorial. Denial, people don't want to acknowledge this warfare, don't want the story to change, want to keep up their romantic views. They did come with boats, put the flag on the land and claimed it for the crown. They didn't want to share the land with the rightful owners of the land, they wanted all of it. Moving forward, terrorising them, capturing them, abducting them, enslaving them, raping females, or hanging them up trees, mutilating their bodies, execution style killings, decapitating them, soldiers were even given money for their skulls. A history of stolen generations, massacres, ethnic cleansing, genocide, a war of extermination. Still today police officers are getting away with deaths in custody of Aboriginal people and there is not much improvement of the poor living conditions. Racism is still pretty bad in Australia. People are also denying the fact, that Australia is a country built on immigration. Even if I hope that things will change and improve for my indigenous brothers and sisters in Australia, unfortunately it will still take time, as we didn't even have started to have a conversation of the horrific past of Australian history.

This is Gwar (2021)
9/10
A great music documentary in its own way
23 July 2022
How to describe GWAR? Barbarian, alien warriors coming to earth? A very underrated band, like Motörhead and Rose Tattoo once called from some people who have no idea of music the worst band in the world, when in fact GWAR is just like the other two bands mentioned musically brilliant with a great show and the favourite band of Beavis and Butt-Head, with even some Grammy nominations. For people living outside of the US it is hard to understand this whole freedom of speech or freedom to express in their performance and art problem, getting dropped by a record label, cuddlefish taken by police, not a big case as the 2 Live Crew ones loosing the first court case, but more importantly for music winning the second and third court case against Navarro. From a music documentary perspective not a top notch one like Searching for Sugar Man, but there is a lot to like and a lot to love about this music documentary, I am still giving it a 9/10. Arts and music are not always about money, keep loosing band members is difficult and they still keep going on and on, a very honest in depth documentary, it is just what they love to do, with a lot of passion, it is their life, at times very emotionally.

I really enjoyed it very much
4 August 2021
Loved it, it was great. Only downfall it was to short. Would have loved it to be longer, like Rumble: The Indians Who Rocked The World (2017). I just think there would have been more interesting stories to tell about the music, the musicians, the struggle of the people etc.

Missleading
4 August 2019
Warning: Spoilers
The other belives of the seven days Adventist shown on here are irrevelant, have nothing to do with the subject to do with what they eat is good for health. The green and red colour thing is wrong too. Take for example meat, it gets this nice colour from nitrates, are nitrates healthy, no. Warburg mice tests, Dr. Campbell showed in mice tests that you can switch on and off cancer with the amount of casein. Of course media can change everything, but the Oprah show with Vinnie on has nothing to do with the subject of healthy eating. I agree that there are many myths, but we all know that. Well the Yudkin case was different as Keys had to do with the food industry and of course they use fat, salt, sugar etc to make people addicted and consume more of their processed food products. Ok carbs has nothing to do with refined carbs, you can be ok with tvpe 1 diabetes on a whole plant based food diet, also reverse type 2 diabetes, so basically you still can eat carbs or some fruits. Dr. Georgia Ede reversed some of her health issues by eating a high meat and high fat diet, does that mean we should eat that all now? No, I was most of my life a vegetarian, went plant based, reversed prediabetes also problems from that like neuropathy, eye problems, cholesterin, blood pressure, GERD, chronic fatigue syndrome, from weight loss erectile dysfunction went away, less depression etc. by eating plant based. So Gary Taubes is with Dr. Ornish on tv and tells him basically he is wrong, but Dr. Ornish has patients where he reversed all this things, which one would you belive, a journalist or Dr. Ornish who reversed thousands of people their diseases? We all know that the American standard diet is one of the worst and that the pharma industry is not in our best interests. Well the 80s about lite products, we all know processed food products are not healthy and good for you. Many of this things we already know from other documentaries, not much new. No amputation for me from my neuropathy, but I didn't need to eat a high fat and high meat diet to reverse it. This so called Long Term study was no longer than 24 weeks and does not prove any long term effect. There are other studies going over decades, showing what is good for you and healthy to eat. No scientific evidence or long term studies rather watch Forks over Knives.

Cutting out whole healthy food groups won't help
29 March 2019
Warning: Spoilers
So first the positive. Yes we all know processed foods are not good for us. Yes we all know about the food industries funded studies, that the meat production as we have it today is not sustainable and yes keto might help with certain diseases like autoimmune, but there is where the positive ends. Taking the oldest culture the aborigininals does not make it better, as they never were the people who did live the longest in the first place. In fact if you have a look around the world at places where people live the longest they have a very low intake in animal based foods, eat alot of fiber etc. Missleading is the low carbohydrate intake as well, as we all know that healthy whole food plant based carbohydrates are healthy and good for us and have nothing to do with processed, refined unhealthy carbohydrates. Well you can compare any diet with the USDA normal standard american unhealthy diet to prove your point, but cutting out whole healthy food groups which are healthy and important for you won't work. Let's compare: Beef: has protein, high in fat, cholesterin, no fiber etc., with lentils: high in protein, nearly no fat only about 1g, no cholesterin as cholesterin only exists in animal based foods, fiber as fiber only exists in plant based foods but not in animal based foods, plus the high fiber amount is very important for your gut health, part gets fermented into scfa, butyrate, lowers ph etc. and they say you should eliminate grains and legumes, seriously and looking at their real food pyramide I just laughed. Obviously lentils are healthier than beef. The coconut oil did come in fashion at a time as they stopped the fried carcinogenic oils, this is also the reason why KFC shorten their name, as the word fried (Kentucky Fried Chicken) got connected with carcinogenic oils, but it does not mean that coconut oil is healthy for you. The Atkins, Keto, Paleo fad diets, high in protein, low in carbs, high in protein, high in fat, low in carbs, just don't work. For example many people on an Atkins diet got health issues, so Dr. Atkins then suggested to take supplements, does not sound like a healthy diet to me at all, and we all know how Dr. Atkins died and how old he was, where as all this doctors who promote a healthy whole food plant based diet are still alive, thriving and way older. There are no long time studies on keto, but there are hundreds of studies in animals and long term studies with people that suggest a whole food plant based diet is the healthiest. They did for example prove that a higher casein (milk protein) consumption in mice got them all killed, where as the mice with lower casein intake most of them were still alive. Then they made tests if they can switch on and off the cancer from the casein if they give the mice more casein and then lower it and it did work. Also Dr. Esselstyns group with cardiac problems are still alive decades afterwards, he is the only one who proved it until today. He also reversed heart diseases, there are photos of his works where arteries did grow together again etc., you can find it on the internet or buy his book, no other diet has proven it so far, his diet is a whole food plant based diet, no sugar, no oil, no salt, with no animal products and no processed refined foods. The funniest in this docu were the three ladies in the kitchen which one of them was the one doing the keto diet. They all three did have no idea what they were talking about, maybe they should do first some research. As for myself, I used to be for many years a vegetarian, like the ex vegan in the docu it does not mean that it is healthy, especially if you are a vegan who eats and drinks things like orios and coke, so it does mean she did not eat a healthy plant based vegan diet. Since switching to whole food plant based eating nearly all my health issues are gone. Gone are pre diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterin, erectile dysfunction, neuropathy and many more. No more brain fog, dizzy, blured vision, confused, forgetting everything the whole time, but I have now a clear head, am focused, sharp mind and more energy. Also I did put some things to the test. I did eat everyday a cup of beans or lentils which did result in a drop of cholesterin, blood pressure etc. I also eat no sugar, oils and salt. For people wanting to lose weight in a healthy way look at calorie density, clearly you will see that foods like vegetables, fruits, legumes which are no more than 600 calories in a pound are the best way to go, as the satiety is best, bulk is water etc. but you still get all the healthy nutrients. If weight loss is not your goal add in moderation, seeds, nuts and avocados. One more thing is that people on a keto and paleo diet always say that you don't produce enough DHA and EPA and you need to consume some animal products. This is not true, you can buy tests online and send it in, so no deficiency. If you do everything correct you will have enough DHA and EPA. The only things you might need a supplement for are B12 and D3. This documentary really proves nothing and is a waste of time. Do some evidence based research. Fact is people like to hear good news about their bad habits. The same goes for paleo diet. Who would you belive more, a Dr. Joel Furnham with a nutrition degree, who did reverse diseases in patients, or one of this two paleo diet guys who is an anthropologist, ha ha there you go.
