Mission Mangal (2019)
This mission is successful - Vidya Balan is the star of this film!
Mission Mangal is educative and entertaining. Vidya Balan excels, leaving the maximum impact in the film; followed by Akshay Kumar, the spark this film needed. Sonakshi, Tapsee, Nithya, H.G. Dattatreya, Sharman and Kriti excel! Goosebumps at climax!
Thugs of Hindostan (2018)
Thugs of Hindustan - A Well Balanced Torture as Promised.
Let's begin this review with the fact that TOH has 'blockbuster' written over it. You like this movie or not does not matter at all, this movie is going to get a mammoth run at the box office.
The best thing about this movie is that everything is so grand about it. The songs, the set designs, the cinematography, the dialogues are all 'paisa - wasool'. A perfect family entertainer, go and watch TOH in your nearby theaters (only if you are lucky enough to book a ticket).

Dhadak (2018)
Dhadak - An unconventional Love Story with a Strong Social Message
Dhadak is not the unconventional love story that we are accustomed to see in Bollywood. It shows us the cruel truth of life. What it is, you need to check it out. Much like the original Marathi version, Sairat, Dhadak is set in Udaipur. This is indeed Shashank Khaitaan's finest work till date. This movie beautifully manages to capture the melodramatic moments and the chemistry between Janhvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khatter is electrifying.
Now, those talking about how this movie is promoting nepotism, I would say, yes it does. Has nepotism not produced fine actors like Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt etc? Yes, I support that others should get a chance but that does not mean that just because their parents were in this industry, therefore it's not the place for them.
Those comparing Sairat with Dhadak, why are we so pessimist about remakes. Remakes can be better, for example: Dilbar. The album of this movie is fine, with the title track standing out for me. I would suggest that you should watch this movie, provided that you haven't watched Sairat yet. Overall, Dhadak is a fine movie with very good acting performances from the lead actors.
My rating: 4 out of 5

Sanju (2018)
Sanju is one of the best biographical movies ever made! Rajkumar Hirani does it again!
Sanju reminds us of the fact that biographical movies need not be about great people! Using the reference to this movie, director Rajkumar Hirani forbids us to indulge in whatever wrong Sanjay Dutt had done earlier in his life. The greatest lesson he gives us is that: we should turn our weaknesses and our failures into our strengths and Sanju is one of the prime examples of it.
Now, coming to the movie, Sanju is actually fantastic! It is rather nostalgic! It's not that I am a devotee of Sanjay Dutt, but this movie had a loop of emotions: love, hatred, anger, and the most important: passion.
Now coming to the acting performances, Ranbir Kapoor is the star of the movie. Momentarily, you forget that he is actually Ranbir Kapoor! He immerses into the character extremely well. Personally, I feel this is his best work till date, even better than Barfi!
The supporting cast is tremendously good! Vicky Kaushal, Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Jim Sarbh, Boman Irani were all fantastic, let's say pitch - perfect!
The songs were good, but the one that stands out is "Kar Har Maidan Fateh"! Goosebumps!
Strongly recommend after the Race 3 debacle.

Race 3 (2018)
RACE 3 is a perfect garbage of stardom and foolishness mixed together.
It's easy to run alone in the field and win the race, and that's what happens with Salman Khan every year on Eid. I am not a hater of Salman Khan, I am a hater of horrible movies. Tiger Zinda Hai was pretty good, but this one proved to be horrible.
For making a sensible and watchable movie we need a proper storyline (I doubt, whether Race 3 had any) a set of actors who can act (I need a microscope to find one out there) and songs which we could hum for a couple of days (Let's not talk anymore about the songs, because I cannot find a single thing to appreciate about them, I mean, none of them are worth hearing twice).
How can we forget the "meme - worthy" dialogues and the "beautiful" lyrics written by the megastar Salman Khan?!
"Our business is our business, none of your business".
"Ik baar baby selfish hoke apne liye jiyo na."
Now let's talk about the previous two movies of the Race series: -Race was absolutely brilliant, let's say it proves "Old is Gold". Race 2 was my favourite. Race is Saif Ali Khan's and it will only be his. Race without Saif, Dabangg without Salman and Dhoom without Hrithik is meaningless. Believe me, save your money. Please don't waste it on Race 3.
Instead, watch Sanju on 29th June. Practically, there is nothing good about this movie except the beautiful cars shown flying. Salman here is a cluless stuntsman. Now, he should realise that stardom does not make a movie, a proper storyline and fine acting makes one.
I would rate this movie 1 out of 10.
Ratings of the songs: -
(1) Heeriye: 1.5 out of 5
(2) Selfish: 0.5 out of 5
(3) Allah Duhaai Hai: 2.5 out of 5

Action: 2.0 / 5
Visual appeal: 1.5 / 5
Overall: Disaster (1.0 out of 5)
Box office prediction: - (Lifetime) 200 to 220 crores in India because I know that even after saying this much, insensible Salman fans will go and watch this movie and make this crap a blockbuster.
That's my review for Race 3.
October (2018)
October makes you melancholic - but that's for a good cause.
Shoojit Sircar makes a yet another masterpiece, the biggest surprise here being that the cheesy commercial guy Varun Dhawan can act - yes, and so matured way that one can never expect.
Here are the positives: -
(1) The cinematography captures the natural autumnal beauty which is so comforting and a visual delight.
(2) Varun Dhawan and Gitanjali Ma'am are excellent. Banita Sandhu plays her role well, but the scope of her character is not very much.
(3) Music is fairly good... "Tab bhi tu" stands out for me.
But still there are some flaws (which are negligible): -
(1) The pace of the film is slow, and at times tests your patience. A 15 minutes shorter October would have been much crispier.
(2) Life is not just about sorrows. A few more happy, comical scenes would have made the audience come out from the ocean of despair at times.
My rating: -
Direction: 9.5/10
Dialogues: 8.5/10
Screenplay: 9/10
Visual appeal: 9.5/10
Music: 8.5/10
Padman (2018)
"Padman - Remake of "Phullu" with A list actors"
I admit that the concept is innovative...but the execution is mediocre; and on the top of that comes over - "Indianization" which makes you really wonder whether this is actually a movie based on a 21st century incident...This movie should have been released in Doordarshan first, because rural people must see this movie first...
Positives: -
(1) Akshay Kumar's natural acting
(2) Beautiful songs like Aaj Se Teri
(3) Occasional humour and satires
Negatives: -
(1) First half of the movie
(2) Unnecessary love plot
Padman is definitely not a superhero, but he'll make you laugh at times and compel you to be more conscious about a woman's health and hygiene...
MY RATING: -
Direction: 3.5 out of 5
Dialogues: 3 out of 5
Screenplay: 3.5 out of 5
Music:: 3 out of 5
Visual appeal: 3 out of 5
Padmaavat (2018)
Padmaavat - Cinematic Brilliance of a Cultural Extravaganza
Rani Padmavati was the epitome of beauty, extraordinary courage and a symbol of self - sacrifice. But, according to me protesting against a movie and urging for its ban without actually seeing it is irrelevant and unjustified. Would Rani Padmavati be proud of the fact that her followers (bhakts), thinking about her self - respect threatening to behead the director of the movie and the actress who has portrayed her character? What is more saddening is the fact is that political propagandas are being supported in our country and the freedom of artistic expression, without hurting the sentiments of the people, is being curtailed.
Now a question arises, objectionable scenes between Rani Padmavati and Alauddin Khilji has been shown in the movie... What about that? Any proof for it? Any solid evidence to support your protest? I believe, rumour is not a proof. Moreover, to judge a thing without seeing it is irrational and absurd. According to me, nothing objectionable/ incorrect has been shown in the trailer which could possibly hurt the sentiments of the people. Regarding the first song 'Ghoomar', I have come across many comments wherein many people complained that Rani Padmavati never danced in public. But then, I became acquainted with the fact that Ghoomar is a traditional dance performed by the ladies of Rajasthan with other ladies of the family in front of the husband. Many a times, I tried to search for any man in the entire video song, but I could not find one. Deepika Padukone, portraying the role of Rani Padmavati was accused of wearing short dresses... Short dresses? Seriously? Moreover, she has been seen dancing on a song of, to the best of my knowledge, pure Rajasthani accent. Sherya Ghoshal is anyway my favourite singer.... Her voice was absolutely mesmerising. Now comes the song, Ek Dil Ek Jaan, and truly speaking, I am now a fan of Shivam Pathak... this song brought tears in my eyes. But then, as usual, some people started to find a fault in this song. Urdu words... a serious problem... but what I saw was that Miss Padukone was not singing this song... It was played as a background music/ song.... So what is the problem?
The director, Master Sanjay must be feeling himself lucky enough as people protesting against this movie are actually promoting this movie, as I believe, free of cost. One last question to all those haters of the movie, if you have such a high respect for Rani Padmavati why was she restricted only till the History books, why was she not made world - famous before? And when the entire Padmavati team is trying to make her a world - famous queen, why let her not be... because she and her sacrifice were worth it.
This is truly one of the grandest movie that the world has seen. Apart from the spine - chilling acting of Ranveer Singh, heart - warming acting of Shahid Kapoor and the soul - touching acting of Deepika Padukone, this movie leaves you teary - eyed at the end. Seriously, the protests were not worth it. This entire movie is a glorification of the valor and pride of the Rajputs. This movie is a tribute to the rich cultural heritage of India.
Well, we must not compare jauhar with sati...Jauhar was an ultimate sacrifice and sati was the deliberative death of a widow (Both are totally different)... Jauhar... This is what Rani Padmavati is and will be known for till eternity... Now, history says that these barbaric invaders would commit rape with the dead bodies of these ladies, hence the option that they were left with was jauhar... Well, the songs are also up to mark, specially Ghoomar, Nainowale ne and Binte Dil will bring goosebumps (if you listen carefully after understanding its meaning)
Lastly, I strongly recommend everyone to see this tale of Rajput valor and pride and hence request all the people protesting against this movie to see it at least once in order to understand it's cinematic brilliance...
