Short and sweet review, four things I didn't like.
14 October 2023
Warning: Spoilers
Over all, the movie was entertaining and a good entry into the franchise, but failed to deliver better than Fallout. Here are four things that I did not like about the movie, although there are more issues than these listed, they are a bit easier to get past given the overall nature of the genre. Here we go:

1. Why were the Russains speaking English in the submarine? M:I movies tend to be a little more authentic, and I would have appreciated native tongue and subtitles.

2. It is too perfectly convenient that Hunt managed to land perfectly inside the train on top of the bad guy.

3. This entry feels a lot less convincing, and more CGI oriented than the last three. The stunts, although I knew they were genuine, felt animated.

4. Unnecessary death of a favorite character. Maybe it'll be worked in to part 2 somehow and I won't be as disappointed.

Overall I give the movie a solid 7/10. I feel this sequel is on par with Rogue Nation; a very good action flick but not quite up to par with Fallout, and not anywhere near as intense. I didn't feel as concerned for the characters with the exception of one specifically who I had a weird feeling about from the moment the line was uttered, "her.... or her."

The short and sweet review
3 July 2023
Helena is equally if not more unlikable than Mutt from Crystal Skull, as well as her little theif friend. To me she felt like more of a main character than Indiana Jones. Mustache henchman irritated me throughout the entire movie. Mikelson had an awesome character. The de-aging of Indiana Jones actually wasn't bad. The first (roughly) 20 minutes felt like an Indiana Jones film, as well as the final (roughly) 25 minutes. Everything in between was a bit weak and I found myself struggling to get that sense of adventure that an Indiana Jones film should offer. Crystal Skull had a better outing for the character of Indy than this film did. I expected it to be worse than it was, but I don't see myself ever putting this film on just to watch it in the future; I'd rather watch Crystal Skull if I had to choose between the two.

I'll watch it again, and again. But it still doesn't feel like Jackass
24 March 2022
Warning: Spoilers
I'll keep this short. Its a great film staring most of the Jackass cast, but lacks the chemistry of the previous installments. I chalk this up mainly to the presence of the new and mostly dull cast members. My favorite bit was the treadmill scene, and I think its because Bam was still there, and it was also the original cast (I didn't even realize bam was left in until I watched that bit for the third time... Maybe its just coincidental that my favorite bit is the one with Bam). The intro was so incredibly dull that it bummed me out before the film even started.

On a positive note, its always fun to see what any of the original cast members are up to, and this doesn't disappoint in that aspect. It just doesn't feel quite like the other entries. Without Dunn, Bam, Dicco, Raab, Rake etc, it did not feel the same.

Campy, fun, low budget horror made by horror fans
1 February 2022
I rented this film for a few bucks on Amazon expecting to laugh at a terrible Horror film, (the cheesier the better imo) and I must say I wasn't laughing too much (other than at the jokes that DID NOT work haha). Clearly made by mostly inexperienced film makers, they made their premise work very well... Its almost as if the movie wouldn't have worked if it was big budget, production company made. If you're looking for a short fun watch with some jumps and creepy atmosphere, check this out. Just remember its not a Spielberg film! Campy, fun, low budget horror made by horror fans.

Good sequel but they got cheesy with it
28 April 2019
The first Conjuring film was an exagerated take on a real case, as is this sequel. However, the first movie had some form of realism to it. Yes, there were your standard horror possession effects; upside down chairs, detailed full body apparitions and demons... But it was kept to a minimal. It relied heavily on atmosphere and story build up.

The Conjuring 2 tries doing the same, but failed in comparison to the first. Additional CGI that was laughable should NOT have been added. The Crooked Man instantly turned the film into what felt like a "pg-13" horror film experience.... Turning a somewhat believable experience into a more far-fetched, hollywood horror film. The parts that entertain me the most in the Conjuring films are the parts where objects move on their own, doors open by themselves and footsteps can be heard where nobody is. People might get bored by that and not find it scary, but I find it hard to believe considering the atmosphere James Wan has created. Overall, this film had great acting, decent story and some good scares, but I think it would have been better without the CGI scares.

A True 80s Classic
26 January 2019
This is NOT a sequel or re-imagining of George Romero's classic Night Of The Living Dead, the title is merely poking fun at the o.g. Zombie film we've all come to know and love. The Return of the living dead is an original zombie movie; the zombies are fast, talk, plan attacks and do not die by any of the classic zombie killing methods we all know and have seen before. This is a fun horror-comedy, plain and simple, not meant to be taken seriously. The acting is over the top and the story is hilarious.

The Return of the Living Dead is one of those horror films that keeps you sucked in until the end; It does not have any dull moments and is very (intentionally) funny. This movie has every thing a dedicated horror enthusiast could ask for - Gore, nudity, atmosphere, comedy, fear, etc.

This one is right up there, if not better than other 80s classics such as Re Animator, Day Of The Dead, An American Werewolf In London, etc.
