Political mess for the (low level) mass
14 January 2022
Those young people are wealthy and known because of Rowling's work, yet they spit on her because she's not woke enough and because she is actually more reasonable than most people about the trans subject. We have now concrete studies to show that trans people (male-to-female) keep a vast competitive advantage in performance sport even after 2 complete years of hormone therapy and even the Olympic Committee admit it recently. What the IOC did with that info? Nothing! They now know it's unfair, but hey, live with it. So if you're a woman, you have to accept to compete with men in disguise as women now. Rowling was right! This society is completely crazy and she has been pushed out of this production, so seriously, HBO can go to hell with this.

It's garbage, even for girls
5 January 2022
I've watched the original (1984) with my children (3 girls, 1 boy) and they liked it at the first watch, rewatched it multiple times afterwards. They did not see the second one (1989) because as I'm concerned, it's not good enough (compared to all movies available nowadays), but one day I saw this one (2016) on a streaming service and I told them, hey, you know what, there's a new Ghosbusters, all-female crew, etc. (I even exaggerated my trill to grasp their attention.) Evidently, my girls were thrilled to hear that and they wanted to see it. So ... we started it. You know what ... all of my fricking children hated it, they did not even care about finishing it and asked to watch something else. I was the first surprised because it was a childish humor level, jokes that could only make laugh somebody younger than 10 years old (or a pretty dumb adult). So, I'm a bit mad now about Feig and others trying to escape reality portraying haters as sexists, etc. Their movie is such garbage that even my 3 girls didn't like it and even them preferred the older cast (there is a bit of a habit from repetition here, but sill, they often watch new movies and rarely ask to stop it because it's not good enough). It's just a dumb movie made by dumb people for dumb people, there is not much to say (it's a disrespect to the name). My children are probably not dumb enough for your "talent" Mr. Feig. I'll watch Afterlife with them and we'll see, but this one is a complete miss on every front.

Don't Look Up (2021)
6/10
The passing mark, but not by much.
5 January 2022
In all honesty, I don't get the praises for this movie. It's not a bad movie, but it's not a good movie either. I understand what they tried to do portraying modern society, but for me, it's a bit too much on the dumb side. Too many people in a position of power look like they could not even finish high school, which is ridiculous even today. They often took bad decisions, but most of them are way smarter than what's in this movie. Other analyses want to compare the situation in the movie with the inaction regarding climate change, but that would be a clumsy comparison, climate change is more of a "boiling frog" situation whereas this movie is more like a "frog on a fricking grill" situation. I get the corporation that wants resources too, but it's a bit far-fetched given the situation (the possible near end of humanity). Plus, it is so USA centric that it's a bit annoying, no other nations are moving until a single attempt at the end (that fail), which is just unbelievable. In a situation like that, I bet most countries would either work together or battle towards a plan to be labeled as the savior of humanity. Humor is okay, without being anything really brilliant or original, so ... by moments I was amused, often I was bored and at the end I was like ... meh. 6/10.

The Matrix should have stayed one movie.
23 December 2021
Most people opinion is that this movie is just a cash grab, not interesting, too much for nothing and that The Matrix should have stayed a trilogy. I disagree.

In my opinion, the Matrix should have stopped after the first movie. It was a perfect movie, a perfect balance between philosophical insight, storytelling, good visual, good acting and a perfect open-ended finale. All boxes in the book were ticked and it was perfect.

Everything after that is a slow slope down and those movies are so easy to put in order: Matrix 1 > Matrix 2 > Matrix 3 > Matrix 4.

Plus, I hate this garbage era were critics, journalists and so forth are just playing the stupid zeitgeist game without a once of intellectual seriousness. Most people are like : Matrix 4, meh, such a deception... Critics are like: Matrix 4... it's made by a trans person, so it is indeed personal, moving, astonishing, unique and all around very good, the perfect reboot.

I hate this era, it's garbage.

Totally unnecessary remake
3 December 2021
Well, I could write a long review about it, but the review title I've put up there says it all. So how I could reach 150 characters when there is really nothing else to say about that...

Boring, too emotional, too long.
12 November 2019
Warning: Spoilers
First, I had to watch it in two sessions because it was so done, I've lost interest at first. I don't get the high rating. I love documentaries, but this one is incipid and more about the emotions of those athletes than about a real all-around documentary on the topic of eating more plants and less meat (read none or close to none) as a proper way of going for your body. If we compress only to the science parts, we have something like a normal 12 minutes topo in the special doc section of the news, not a 1h50 documentary. It's a 2018 document, not a 1964 document! As of 2018, the amount of concrete information for that amount of time is pretty weak (a lot of 10 minutes YouTube videos on the topic are more informative, less partial and are not wasting thousands of dollars worth of resources). If you are all in emotions and want to see people praying how they feel good since they eat only plants, there is your way to go. If you want serious, less partial documentation, just go to your local university library and read 1h48 worth of science papers on the question, it would be so much better; plus you will read those studies with all their nuances rather than the strict summarized interpretations of 2 or 3 actors that level down all nuances. Don't get me wrong, I am for a more responsible (for health) way of eating, but this is just pure emotional mud to grip the "following type" people. Boring, emotional and not scientific enough.

Edit : plus, when you know some of those athlete, you understand how BS it is... That Strongman is not even relevant in the strongman world and we you look seriously against all those juiced-up meat eater, he is not even in the pack. Guys this years were doing the yoke with the same weight but for 6 to 7 time the same distance ... I mean, it's not the same game, but people want to believe so hard...

Boring cliché, cheap...
28 April 2019
I don't really get it. I've waited so long to watch this (started while the 8th season is starting). The hype was so incredibly big that I was anticipating the most incredible piece of art ever done on television... Oh, deception. Everything feels cheap to me. The story is boring, full of emo-pop clichés, the realisation is ok, but without anything fantastic. Even the costumes, the scenery, the ambiance feel cheap to me. Maybe this is why it's so popular, it's rubbish cheap psycho-pop situation encapsulated in a somehow different context. People don't realize it's the same soup over and over again or it's the opposite, that's what they want! In any case, this show is totally overrated.

It is good, but not as the first one.
9 August 2018
I don't understand why people woud like that one better than the first one (except if you're a complete fanboy). Everything is less except what's make a movie superficial (cg, cg, cg for no reason, long empty action scenes, etc.). The plot is weak, the dialogues are often comonplace and easy, the fights are ok, but the CG just sucks, we can see it too easily and it just seems fake (too much I mean). It is still a good movie, I would give it 7.2 while I would give 8.5 to the first one. I'm just sad that all this extra money pumped into this does not serve it at all... It's ok, it's not a complete crap, but it's clearly a partial deception to me.

Bad telling, bad linking and weak emotions for lazy people.
26 June 2018
This is just a miss as I'm concerned. The premise to begin the whole enterprise is just a joke. The main actor (Samian) is just boring and without any kind of deepness in his role (he's a singer, but he's clearly not an actor).

The movie is slow and full of dull poetic tries that go nowhere (they try to fill the emptiness of the script), links that have no value and the assemblage is just not working as a valid work. I've tried to like some historical or artistic points in that movie, but I can't. It felt amateur and childish. It's a movie in the "air du temps" which means it is told in a weird asynchronous way just because if not, it would be even worst (like 2/10), it's filled with empty emotions, boring images and both the historical and reflexive aspects are quite low. Those people tried to make a historical non-historical semi-fiction about indigenous culture linked with a part of his progression, but it's a fail, a total fail. If you want to lean something about indigenous culture (or Quebec Culture as a whole), take a book on the subject or watch another movie. This one, even for entertainment, will make you lose your time.

Ok, just ok.
2 February 2018
I don't get the hype around that, after Stranger things, Dark (and a lot of older productions), etc., it's another parallel worlds story. It is not actually special, the story is OK, but not that fantastic either, It is not intriguing at all, they keep everything secretive because there is actually not that much else to do with that. I feel like when we will know the fall, we will just be like, OK, whatever. It's good for young folks that know nothing about sci-fi, but if you have a bit of experience, there is not that much to play around with that series (so far).
