The Hyperions (2022)

Even as a Daily Wire fan... Don't watch this

I went into this movie hoping it would be good. Clinging onto hope that it would at least be decent. Long story short, it fell short.

I don't know much what to tell you as far as the genre of the film, it wasn't a comedy because it didn't have humor. It wasn't a drama because that requires characters and acting. It wasn't an action movie because nothing happened. It is best described as a movie where I guess eventually some things happen.

Every member of the cast could be described as incompetent at best. I couldn't identify a single intelligent character in the show. We want movies that pit powerful minds against each other not a few people whose brains barely functioning with motives we don't understand mucking about in a museum lobby for an hour and a half. That brings me to my second issue, the pacing. The pacing is dreadfully slow. Almost nothing happens in the first 40 minutes. By that time our two characters haven't moved from inside the museum and are still just hanging around with their hostages who are passing the time playing board games. The main reason for this terrible pacing is the exposition dumping. To explain every little thing, they give a long drawn out video explaining it as if we were a child.

The Mandalorian (2019– )

Premise: A boring Firefly... yay...

Imagine Firefly without a soul. Now you don't need to watch The Mandalorian. The length of the scripts is about the same as Green Eggs and Ham. Nothing is developing. The whole thing is drawn out and overhyped. If this wasn't "Star Wars" then everyone would say what this really is, boring. You could cut out whole episodes with no impact on the current character situation. If you want a story about people walking a lot then go read Wheel of Time, all the walking you could want but it actually has a plot and more deep concepts and developments. If you want an actual space epic, watch Firefly.

Pandora Hearts (2009)

Read the Manga

This story is brilliant. It twists the world in an amazing way. The anime is a descent adaptation of the story up until the end where it completely breaks away in the dullest way possible. If you want to watch some of it then do so but the story is about 10x more full of depth and intensity in the manga than the show. I would give the manga 9/10 and the anime around 7 simply because it turns south at the end. Go watch an episode or two and then turn to the manga and read all 100+ chapters. It will take you on a ride.

The character depth and development is great. The contrasts of morals and twists in the plot catch you off guard. The foreshadowing is done well without giving away hints. This is a really great story.
