CGI has no Soul
14 March 2020
I couldn't get past the CGI dog as a cartoon caricature. It wasn't real to me. Therefore, the film didn't happen. Only one of the several Call of the Wild movies has captured the book to any success. That was the version with 1997 version with Rutger Hauer as Thornton. That movie also had some excellent narration by Richard Dreyfuss which allowed us to experience things through Bucks eyes - as per the book.

NOT A WESTERN
13 November 2018
I will not rate or review this movie. It may be brilliant. Just to say that I noticed it because it was classified on the Net as Western. It is not a Western.

Westerns can be a lot of things, but this ain't it.

A Solid 8 - an Excellent Western
27 August 2018
From Production values - to Casting - to Writing - to Direction - The Soundtrack. An excellent Aussie Western. I believe any Western Fan or knowledgable film fan will appreciate it.

A True Gem
11 June 2018
Not just a great Western - this is a great movie. I was shocked at IMDB low rating of 4.8. I guess they were expecting High Noon? Yet Casting, Acting, Direction ... it's a damn good job all the way around. There's a hint that the movie is loosely based upon Dante's Inferno. I think that's worth knowing going in because it gives to some insight into certain things that happen. It really adds something. The yarn is good - the Acting superb. I'll be watching it again sooner than later - and I believe it was worthy of some Nominations.
