The Golden Child (1986)
One of my favorites.
Currently watching it for the 50th time. Its a cult classic and deserves so much higher than it's current rating. They just don't make movies like this anymore and I wasn't even born yet when it came out. It's so entertaining, pulls at the heart strings a little, and just captures your attention the entire time, all while being a bit silly and quirky. Eddie Murphy is hilarious in it as well, and the interactions he has with the little boy lead is just too funny. Just give it a chance if you haven't seen it. Older movies just have something special newer movies don't. They're so genuine and made so well.
St. Vincent (2014)
Can't believe I had never heard of this.
Just watched it on Netflix. LOVED it. Great actors in it as well. The story is entertaining and has a lot of heart. Don't pass it up, give it a shot. Good light hearted, fun film.
The Matrix Resurrections (2021)
The first 1/3 loses a lot of people. But IT GETS BETTER.
I went in with a super open mind because I love the matrix but also because I did not want to believe all the bad reviews.
I can see how some people might be turned off the first third, it's easy to get confused with the twists and turns, flash backs and symbolism stuff. BUT after the 1/3 half things really return back to the way the old matrix movies are.
Seeing so many familiar faces from the old movies, or introducing new ones part of family lines that was so cool and I really liked it. It wasn't the greatest movie of all time but I definitely enjoyed watching it until the end.
Don't Look Up (2021)
I waited for this for 2 months, I was so excited.
I was really excited for this movie, the A list cast and sci fi/comedy plot sounded great.
I forced myself to watch the first hour then finally caved and fast forwarded to the ending.
Great cast, boring, slow, annoying plot. I know it's supposed to be a political satire.. but I guess that part just ruined it for me. Really a let down. And a LONG one.
Mulan (2020)
I'm giving it a 10 to make up for snowflakes.
Born in 91' and a lover of Mulan, it simply wasn't that bad. It could have been better yes, but it does not deserve less than a 6.
Busanhaeng 2: Bando (2020)
How can this have the same director, and screenplay writer??
Train to Busan was a masterpiece. This is so low bar compared too, I just don't understand how it could be the same director and screen writer...
Only (2019)
CUT THE HAIR.
How can the whole premise be on no one can find out shes a woman yet she keeps her 18" beautiful long hair, manicured eye brows.. give me a break.
Hollywood (2020)
Honestly Fing Phenomenal
I thought this was great, the acting, the story, it's so well put together. Best thing I've watching in a while.
Vivarium (2019)
Again started strong, ended lame.
Great actors, story line was building up to be super cool. The ending just fell off, it could have been some epic awesome escape or something but it was just flat.. after hearing the noises in the ground he should have found a hatch or something he could cut through, and they should have had to run through all the instances poots ended up falling through.
Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C.J. Walker (2020)
I really enjoyed it but the music..
I like the music on it's own, I was boppin' in my chair but it really detracted from the seriousness of what was going on in the series.
Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn (2020)
I'm a woman, dgaf about crazy feminists, the fight scenes are boss.
I don't feel like this was some crazy man hating movie, or whatever you all are saying.
The fight scenes are sick. The story is meh but pretty funny, and the fight scenes are very enjoyable. Worth the watch.
The Witcher (2019)
The Witcher 3 was amazing too.
Epic, I have not read the books but I've played The Witcher 3; it's one of my favorite games, even the story follows along the lines of the game, it just makes it so much better.
Any bad reviews i'm sure come from stuck up critics who need to go watch 'Joker' again instead. If you have not read the books or played the game you should.
Luchshe, chem lyudi (2018)
They actually did an IV to film it.
So bad ass. Good show, doesn't fill the show with sex to sell, just a good scifi.
The Hustle (2019)
I don't think It deserves this low
If I rated it honestly i'd say a 7/10,
Yes the ending is a bit silly, and there are some dumb lines, but over all I really laughed. I laughed throughout the movie, and not many of these B list comedies make me laugh.
It's pretty funny, and worth the watch.
Another Life (2019)
It's not great but it's certainly not a 1.
I binged watched the whole thing, and yes, there are things that don't make sense, weird sexual tension and scenes that -really- don't belong.
But I can't be the only one that thought it was decent. The filming was good, story was interesting, there are some good actors in here as well.
Some characters are lame and unlikeable, but the ones that are good, make up for it.
If they ditched the weird triangle stuff, and kept with the deep rooted stuff like Jana, and Erik, it'll improve.
I also don't like the all young cast, I understand where they were trying to go but the show would improve if they had some adults in there and cut out some of the cringy attitude frat house stuff.
Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn (2012)
So.. I got axios tattoo'd on my upper back.
I know it's been quite a few years, but I just felt I needed to tell you how much this series inspired me. I am a Halo fan, but turned much more so after seeing this. For some reason something in me clicked after watching this. 21 years old, sitting around doing nothing with my life, fat, unhappy. After watching this movie, I went out for my first run, and ended up losing 80 pounds over the course of 6 months, and joined the US Air Force. After boot camp I got AXIOS just below my neck, because it really inspired me to get up and be somebody. 'I am worthy.' I guess something about watching Lasky struggle, and overcome obstacles, I'm not entirely sure.
But I do really love the movie, and Halo in general, and thank you for making such an epic production.
Good Girls (2018)
Starts slow but..
It started a bit slow and I thought i'd be predicting a lot of the outcome, but I was wrong. The character development is really well done, very engaging show. Can't wait for season 2.
