Good potential here, would like to see more
6 September 2020
This movie was supposed to come out ages ago, and as an X-men horror type, looked interesting. Of course, being a big comic geek, I know the characters and pretty much knew what was going on from the start. That didn't make me enjoy it any less. This is a good group of kids, with fun abilities and backstories. I would have liked more at the end, and would absolutely watch more with them.

Darker than expected, with a good amount of humour

Coming of age movies are a genre that I quite enjoy, if done right. This one definitely takes it in a different direction. Taika Waititi has been taking the world by storm, and I'll watch anything he makes, or is in. An all around very good cast and setting. Sure the accents vary, but that can be easily ignored for comedic reasoning.

Not bad but the original is better
2 September 2020
Bruce Willis can be pretty good in action movies...but he isn't much of an actor. I would never have believed him as a doctor. This was actually too close to his role in Unbreakable, which is a much better movie than this. Even Vincent, who is often a very good actor, is underused here.

Quite well done for it's time
2 September 2020
John Carpenter's The Thing is my favourite movie, but I'd never seen this original until just recently. So I have to treat it like a sequel, set back in time, and it makes me enjoy JC's version even more. The setting is quite good, and the characters are too. I can see what was borrowed in the remake, but whats also interesting is whats left out! There was a woman in this one, of course a love interest, which I think was wisely passed upon in the 80's movie. Also the whole bit about it potentially evolving from vegetation was interesting to me. Part of me would like to see more from this era, but even more so, I'm excited at the recent possibility of Blumhouse pictures considering making some new movies.

Interesting, but slow
2 September 2020
I remember a movie about Ted Bundy in the 80's. Of course, I was a kid, and it was scarier then, so I guess I expected more from this. I didn't expect it to be a court case with barely anything else. There was a bit of mystery, but no real excitement. It felt like an overly long episode of any whodunit tv show.

Very tense!
1 September 2020
This kind of movie has been done a few times before, most notably with Don't Breathe. The main actress does a very good job, and the villain was creepy, but probably should have kept the mask on longer. Tense throughout with some shocking moments, I quite enjoyed it, but not enough to watch it again.

Not even worth Alexandria
1 September 2020
I watched this for one reason, and it still wasn't worth it. A dark movie with no real laughs or redeeming qualities. I watched until the end, hoping for it to get better but it didn't. I could have given it a lower score...but it still has the curiosity factor, as being very different.

Could have been so much better
1 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
An interesting idea, but right in the movie, they made fun of themselves, and rightly so. A character said that someone looked like they had an instagram filter on them, and that's how bad the effects were. It may have actually been a simple filter. Some better effects and dares would have been nice. Obviously they were hoping to make more of these, which the ending hinted at quite cleverly.

A true 80's classic!
29 July 2020
This is the movie I think of when I hear the genre-coming of age. Some teens on an adventure, and this was my age and my time. Well, 1986 was, though this is set much earlier. A lot of people don't realize this is Stephen King as well. A great cast of young kids, most of which have had great careers since this. John Cusack specifically has done many King adaptations. A wonderful soundtrack as well as one of the best vomit scenes in any movie ever.

A bit slow, and vulgar language, with some quirk thrown in
29 July 2020
There is a lot of storytelling here, particularly by a very out of character Hugh Grant, which is fun to see. Everyone else seems fairly typical, except the language is not for the faint of heart. Accents too can be tricky to understand. It's not a horrible story, but not the best either. It does indeed feel very much like a Guy Ritchie movie, so fans of his will eat this up.

Not as bad as everyone says
29 July 2020
Could it be, do I actually like Kristen Stewart now? She is fun in this role! Yes, it's very obvious that this is a feminist movie, and yes the villain is also obvious, but I like the whole cast here. The action is pretty good, and a bit of humour of course. Kristen feels like she's playing Elizabeth Banks, who is typically more quirky, and for me, that was quite entertaining.

A great cast and story
29 July 2020
It's kind of funny how many of these actors are now in the Marvel universe. A good story, if a bit slow at times. It boggles the mind how difficult it is to catch a killer, and how times have changed. Would todays evidence methods have worked better? The number one thought that I got from this movie, is how much easier it must have been to be a killer before the technology of today.

Highlander 2.0, or 2020
13 July 2020
Highlander was a really fun movie in the 80's. I'm honestly surprised not many have used the concept of immortal humans more often. Charlize of course is perfect choice for such a movie, and the action is very good. The effects are pretty good too, but for me it's the lore and possibility of more that I love. Particularly the ending, which I saw coming from a mile away, has potential for many more movies. Even backwards in time there are stories to be shared. Well done Netflix.

Running man for 2020
13 July 2020
I really like the movie choices that Daniel Radcliffe makes. This is quite far from Harry Potter, and though it is mainly a chasing and hiding movie, it has some fun elements. Having guns attached to his hands had some comedic scenes, and the action was cartoony but fun. In fact, I'm not sure but this is probably based on some sort of anime that would probably be more fun to watch, but I still enjoyed it for what it was.

Way too much hype, but still a fun action movie
13 July 2020
Will Smith is still fun to watch in action movies, but he's better when there is some comedy as well, which there really isn't here. Instead, there's regular Will, and faux young Will. We all knew what the movie was about, and the great effects that were done, but it really doesn't look any more amazing then any other action movie with a stunt double. I do however really like Mary Elizabeth Winstead, and haven't seen Clive Owen in quite some time, so those additions helped, as well as Benedict Wong. But overall, this movie is predictable and not even super great in the action department. Luckily, it was a free watch on Amazon.

Still fun but the first one is better
5 July 2020
More of the same can be a good thing, but mixing things up can also be good. I was happy to hear that the main actors would be playing different people this time. The Rock does a poor job at Danny Devito but Kevin Hart does a fantastic Danny Glover! Aquafina is a great addition, but overall the action just feels less enjoyable, and even the language is annoying, with a lot of religious cussing. I'll absolutely watch a third, which is hinted at but probably not in the theatre.

Amazing visuals but bland story.
2 July 2020
A lot of awesome action and gore here. Lots of explosions and car chases, but do we care about these characters at all? Its a bit of a mess, feeling like the story was thrown together after deciding some cool action scenes. All the stuff with magnets though is utterly amazing, and probably the only part of the movie I'll remember.

A great visual Bond movie!
2 July 2020
This is the best since Casino Royale, and for a lot of reasons. The character development/shift of some of the team, the beautiful action scenes and stunts and adding to the mystery that is Bond himself. Javier is a great creepy villain, and Skyfall itself is not what I expected it to be, leaving more questions than answers.

This is the best of the first 6!
24 June 2020
These movies are fun, but this one stands out as the one that I remember the most. Why? Because this is where Jason becomes an unstoppable force! The acting and effects are better than the last few, and the ending had me excited for more. Plus there is more peril danger as there are actual camping kids to worry about.

A lame attempt at a reboot
22 June 2020
I've been rewatching these movies, and the first 4 all get 7's, being pretty solid slasher movies that slowly tell more of Jason's story, and sometimes his victims. These are all 80's movies with bad acting and a bit of sleeze, but entertaining enough, with a great villain who seems unstoppable. Part 5 is more of the same with a twist. I was fine with that except that the acting was the worst yet and the effects were also poor. So many scenes cut away at the death moment, no doubt to save money. Still fun, but just not as good.

The Lion King (2019)

Very unnecessary reboot, but also very good.
21 June 2020
The Lion King is a classic that doesn't need messing with...but the result is very good anyhow. The scenery and animals look amazing, and the story remains much the same. The voice changes don't make a lot of difference aside from Timone and Pumba, which went a different direction but still worked out nicely. Because of the success of this, we are likely to see every animated movie upgraded...and that feels like a waste of time when it's nicer to see new original ideas...but is bound to make Disney a buttload of money anyway.

A big step up for the franchise!
21 June 2020
The stunts were better, the humour was better, the story was better. Having rewatched some of the early movies, which are all solid, this one did move forward, and that's a good thing! After this the stakes get upped every time, which is rare for a franchise this old, but I welcome it.

Better than I expected it to be!
11 June 2020
I loved the first movie, but it felt like this wasn't going to be good without Idris and some of the other cast from the first. But the story surprised me, going in a different direction. The fight scenes are good, and there aren't as many laughs this time but the big twist in this movie made it enjoyable. Still better than most of the Transformers movies!

The least of the first 3
11 June 2020
Clint is great, but what made these movies so far has been the villains. The first villain was a lunatic, and fun to watch. The second movie had a few that were obvious but not bad. This time the villain was forgettable. I watched this a few days ago and I already can barely remember, yet the first two movies are clear in my mind.

I wish I could have seen this in 3D.
7 June 2020
It was so obvious from the start, with stuff poking towards the camera, how this was meant to be watched. More bad acting and not much plot, but for some reason this series is strangely fun to rewatch. Jason evolves here, finally putting on the hockey mask, and displaying what seems like superhuman strength in some scenes. And yet in others he can barely take down a door with an axe. Inconsistent, but it pulls me back to the 80's and I can't help but love this shlock!
