Mega Ape (2023)

This is the standard for bad movies

This has to be a joke! There is no way it't not. The bad acting, poor film skill, and terrible writing make this movie almost impossible to watch. About 1/4th of this movie is credits. Another 1/4th is drone shots. It is speculated that the budge to make this movie was $35, and the purpose was to cause pain with the, poor CGI, wide angle and awkward scenes. I give this a 2/10 because there is a difference between bad being incompetent, and bad on purpose. And this just barely scrapes over the line.

The best part: The Ape Burlesque dance.

The best line: "No monkey business" - Sir Ranger Rodger.

Pearl (2022)

So good I forgot she was acting

Pearl's speech near the end of the film was amazing. Her performance was so good I forgot she was acting!

Favourite moments/details: The dad being represented as the caged bird, where his mind was free and his body a cage.

The pig on the porch representing the slow rot and decay of her metal state.

The mothers prediction; people will know the real you and become afraid, and everyone seen with her after was afraid.

The correlation and connections between "X" and "Pearl"; I don't like blonde's, the pet gator, Pearl sinking cars in the river, desire to become famous and live a different life.

Things I wasn't a fan of: The slash horror it turned into when the deaths of characters became predictable.

How we never learnt about what she said to Howard in order to make him stay, and not be killed along with everyone else.

Pulp Fiction (1994)

Aged Poorly

First 1/2 is so dry I almost turned it off.

This movie over glorifies the use of drugs and gang violence. Aged poorly with multiple plot points including: overdosing on drugs, over use of the 'N' word, fat shaming, rape, and more.

I picked up this movie because of the cast, and was disappointed with how the movie turned out.

While there were some memorable lines and moments, but some moments were so terribly uncomfortable I wanted to turn it off. I kept watching hoping for some redeeming qualities of witch I could only find in the last 10 minutes.

I deeply do not understand how this is some people's favourite movie, let alone on the top 100 list.

Spirited Away (2001)

Strange and lacking direction.

I enjoyed the music and the animation, but felt the film lacking general direction and cohesion. I understand the basic plot of her trying to go back to her world, but felt like a lot of scenes were unnecessary and confusing.

My favourite part about the film was at the end when he said "don't look back" and we see his hand and thats it. I felt that his words held meaning and it was further developed by the main character not seeing him again on screen.

I won't watch again.
