The Alpha Test (2020)
Nowhere NEAR as bad as others are saying
Complete and total spoiler. I need to argue with the bad reviews on this movie, so if you haven't seen it yet, don't read this!
The movie was obviously on a budget, but still had a decent plot and conveyed two really good morals. One, when we get to the point of true A. I. and if we're dumb enough to actually use them for daily chores and stuff, watch what we teach them. Then two, watch how you treat them. Message received. I don't get how so many people missed it through the obvious budget struggle.
It had good music, good camera shots, the situations were believable because I HAVE seen people act like that toward other humans and animals. Why in the world wouldn't someone do this to a robot, something that could easily be perceived as an object? There was a point when the mother was legit pulling Alpha to the garage like a dog. Believable. People can be like that. Humans suck sometimes. And like a sort of person just learning things, the robot would take the information from the daughter, the violence it learned on TV, and process it as self defense. Logic complete.
Granted, the acting left a bit to be desired in several places, but the story and score and everything else made up for it. That's the only reason I'm not giving it a 10 is the eh acting in a few places. It wasn't even all bad. I enjoyed it.
The Jamie Foxx Show: Save the Drama for Your Mama (1997)
Oh, man!
This show is so underrated, and this episode has the duet I never realized I needed. Gladys and Jamie seemed like actual mother and son, it was such a treat.
Doom Patrol: Possibilities Patrol (2021)
Picture of mental health issues
This is one of my favorite shows, ever.
Spoilers:
Granted, the Candlemaker part was the tiniest bit anticlimactic, but Jane's story more than makes up for it. It's one of the most artful depictions of mental health issues I've ever seen on screen.
