Great movie!
14 August 2023
I read the book and I watched the movie. And while I would have liked the movie to be longer (or a limited series to really develop things), I think the movie accomplished what it set out to do - which is to be rom-com. There were parts where I laughed, there were parts where I cried, and I definitely wanted to watch this again which is a sign of how much I liked it! And truth be told I liked it better the second time because was able to catch things I hadn't the first due to pacing. Honestly, anyone who down votes because "the book was better" is missing the point of genres. They will be different so why compare?

Also, I can't believe anyone would write a review that says the two actors don't have chemistry! The chemistry is there and definitely strong!

All in all I think this movie is definitely worth a watch. You will be entertained !

My favorite show on Netflix
22 July 2022
I am so grateful to Netflix for having not only created such a wonderful show but also renewing it. What I love about it: 1. The actors who play Nick and Charlie are perfect for their roles 2. The artistic touches throughout (blue and yellow contrast, the rainbows in every episode, the graphic art) 3. The supporting characters are authentic and the soundtrack great.

What I love most about it: It's about time (can't believe it took until 2022!) we have a wholesome, sweet, and cute LGBTQ+ series. I can't agree with those who say it's not realistic because I think the reason it so popular is because it is so relatable. We have all been aspects of either Nick or Charlie at some point in our lives and this show brings out all the feels for those comfortable enough to feel them.

Thank you, Netflix.

self-absorbed people attempting depth
15 May 2022
I binged this whole series so that I could give an honest review. I wish I could get some of that time back. The story drags on and quite honestly after 12 episodes it is still not clear to me why the plot line even exists - I mean does anyone truly care for anyone else in this story? I kept waiting for these self-absorbed characters to have some level of depth as to why it made their choices and decisions worth it. The only reason I am giving it 6 stars is because the acting was good and it's not the actor's fault that they had to play self-absorbed people.

Fell Flat
6 May 2022
I definitely agree with the majority of reviewers who are giving this between a 6 and a 7. The storyline had the potential to be so much more but in general it, and the actors. Always fell a little flat to me. I gave it a 7 because I managed to get through it until the end, but I was never moved in the way I would like to be when watching a movie, and honestly, I could have just as easily given in a 6. So much could have been developed more - family dynamics, relationships, friendships. In short, watch this if you have nothing else to watch and you will probably feel a bit meh throughout. It was entirely surface and superficial.

Lacked something, but not sure what...
5 August 2018
I spent a lot of time fast forwarding during this because some parts were just flat and I was expecting something more. Maybe I was expecting a bit more depth from the other characters (the only one who seemed to have it was Kate) and I wanted to see the connection between the reality show and actual reality a bit more clearly. It's as if the movie needed about 10 more minutes for us to have an ah-ha moment. It really just fell flat for me.

Genuine and touching

I didn't find it slow at all and enjoyed every moment. Kelsey Grammer did not disappoint and made this movie especially good. I would recommend it to friends!

Not sure where the negative reviews are coming from but I absolutely love this show! I love Dan Levy (he is my favorite), and every single one of the characters plays their parts to perfection!

Love this show!
18 March 2018
I really love this series and here's why. First, the actors are top notch. They are excellently type cast, and each character is developed in such a way that I feel like I really know them.

The connection between Dylan and Evie is charming and it keep me coming back for more. Luke is hilarious and Angus is the friend we all have had. Even the flashbacks work because it is clear that everything this gang of friends has experienced has helped make them who they are today.

More shows like this Netflix, please! I really can't wait for the next season to come out!

Season 1 showed promise, then it started to tank in Season 2
18 March 2018
I loved this show in Season 1. It had all the promise of a great teen drama. And then in Season 2 I thought I was watching a bad remake of the Godfather.

It is really too bad that the writers spent so much time focusing on the Lodges as opposed to the great teenage plot lines that were so good in Season 1. I really have no desire to watch this show anymore.

Can't like the characters
6 March 2018
I watched the first two seasons and created an account just to write this review. First, what I like about the show enough to give it 5 stars; Some of the plot lines are very believable. I think the writers make the experiences relatable and authentic so that we, as the viewer, can say, "been there, done that." Whether it be that we act clingy with a boyfriend who is acting distance, whether it be the way we interact with our friends and do dorky things like make music together, or just go out to brunch after a night partying. These are all relatable. I liked that the story lines peaked my interest enough to get me through each episode of the two seasons.

But what I didn't like about is ultimately what I think led to the downfall of the show and made it be cancelled after 3 seasons. The characters are not likable at all, and they certainly don't have the kind of connection I like to see between two people who are supposed to have a connection. Gus and Mickey could not be more mismatched as people. And if their characters were more likable (Gus is super annoying and Mickey is super selfish) then maybe we could buy into the whole opposites attract thing. But when Gus is making a weird face and Mickey is going on about "me, me, me" I just want to break them up so that I don't have to suffer through their interaction anymore.

I can't understand, for the life of me, why a show whose title is "Love", could not have found two actors who have the spark and actually act in love. No matter how different their personalities needed to be, if they at least had the "spark", I could buy into it as viewer and fight for their love. As it is, I really just want them to break up so that I can focus on what I like about the show which is the basic story lines.

The producers really should have done a better job typecasting actors that work well together and connect. That is what works in the other megahits that Netflix has (Stranger Things, for example). By the second season, Mickey and Gus are excruciating to watch together. Pity, because the show really had potential.
