Jeepers Creepers: Reborn (2022)
A slow build to a decent finale
I understand the effects weren't too grade CGI, but between the story and the creature effects I enjoyed it. The start of the film was interesting, especially with two actors I can remember from classic 80s films. The cast was well-assembled ,the characters were somewhat plain. The Creeper was well designed, the monster origins revamped to be something different from just a cursed thing. The shortfalls come via the sparse sets and 'outdoor' shots.(all green screen edits)But the unnecessary transition from road trip to horror convention was a speed bump. The movie should've just started at the convention, and kicked off from there. Otherwise,I liked the film as a whole. Worth a streaming watch but I'm glad I didn't spend $30 tosit throughout in a theater.
My Favorite Girlfriend (2022)
There was an attempt..
Have you ever found a magazine while cleaning, and decided to give a quick read-through after finishing the housework? Then after finally finishing that magazine you were compelled to clean again, just to clear your mind of that awful mess of media and boring writing. This movie was that magazine. Hulu must've had a quota to fill or something, because it wasn't bad acting that tainted this film,It seemed to be rushed in each scene with little emotion from all the 'personalities' and that's me being generous. Its not a repeat viewing, its a 'turn on for background noise' film.(Now that I think about it,this would've made for a tolerable podcast🤔)
Better Watch Out (2016)
Snowflake teen get revenge.
Its not worth the wrapping paper the script was written on.Riddle me this what if an insecure teen bully with hormones got rejected by a love interest?Get ready to roll your eyes for the entire film to find out.The positive reviews you'll see are written by the real-life unsupervised, suburbanite fictional children depicted in the film. The plot is a predictable, worn out wet dream of future young adult angry failures. However, there are some halfway humorous moments if you fast forward to the final 10 minutes.Rent don't buy- and rent only if you're trying to remember why its important to be a good parent.
The Turning (2020)
Dont expect anything special...
Take every cliche moment of any horror film in the past 10 years. Add two cliche upper crust 1% spoiled brats.Add a dash of passive agression. Now add lots of silent facial gestures.Thats it.Dont finish it,because its going to fade from memory by the day after anyway.Decent cast, though.Mackenzie Davis did well, especially in the scenes of her characters' moments of WTH at the weirdness of her situation.
365 dni (2020)
I kept waiting for the 'pizza delivery guy' scene
The over-the-top sex scenes weigh down any onscreen chemistry that started. Its like watching late night 90s cable, acting included. If you edit out the overtly sexual acts this movie couldve been legitimately interesting, but after a point it gets to be a little ridiculous.Hormonal teenagers are probably loving this,so good for them- lmao.It was a fun watch with my wife though.Dont take it so serious, don't be a prude and maybe the "plot" will help you finish...the movie.
The Hot Flashes (2013)
Funny and realistic girl power comedy
The cast is impressive, realistic humor and believable underdog sports comedy.Because of typical Mean Grrl bullies, there are a few derogatory sexual/racial comments by a few bullies but it pushes the movie forward. Its underrated, inspiring if not ridiculous. Its a good movie,to watch and laugh.Just enjoy it :)
