AJ and the Queen (2020)
I think RuPaul deserves an Emmy as the first drag queen triple threat
I think RuPaul deserves an Emmy as the first drag queen triple threat.
There's so much I wanna say about this but I think the point that I need to make is that this is not a gay story this is a story about people and as somebody who grew up during this generation it's passing of a torch in many ways.
I'll update this after more viewers watch this but the show brought me back some place that I had forgotten and was an in-depth part of, but it is not a story about gay people it's a story about all people. Just have some fun along the way.
Nightflyers (2018)
Brilliant Show Gets Canned, exactly when the plot is revealed"
This is another example of a brilliantly cerebral television program, on an older "cable" 'network' trying to stay 'Relevant' mucking up the works right when a show hits a modern 'relevant' stride. Youre forgetting where you came from, and that Amazon studios is no different then the SciFy channel in 1997, Creative, fun, cerebral, occasionally campy yet always thoughtful new or obtained content. You won't have to compete for smaller and smaller segments if you modernize with more original programming like this. Your Channel as we become a place of reruns or online only programming, you needed original content to bring back some of your core market.
To everyone out there this has to be one of the most amazing unfortunately cancelled programs I have seen, in a long time, on declining network platform television. The unusually highly production value, CGI and cinematography, and the extremely hard to find mix ingredients; a well written dystopian future AI spacey-wacey, times-wimey voodoo "wait-what..; spaceship to ... :) blew my mind and made me truly vested in The Nightflier.
The characters are beautiful and you really only get to the plot line right before the end of the current series. This could be taken in so many directions and it is my personal hope that enough people watch this that it gets picked up by Amazon Studios or online content of some kind because it is that well done and I want to learn more about the world that those characters live in.
Being Human (2008)
bring it back!
This show is amazing. Almost 10 years later I watched the entire series and then I tried to watch the US version. There is absolutely no comparison each series is independent and beautiful and in wonderful BBC Fashion they rotate the leads to make the show continue. It felt like it stopped too early and I miss the series one cast. Come on BBC you have a history of putting things on hiatus, Give some of us in the US with the iPlayer or BBC app some special content. We miss out on so much and especially some unique content of our own. A+ for the series D- for leaving it alone for so long. I hope you can bring them back.
What We Do in the Shadows (2019)
Possible spoiler? .. But,, Episode 7 brought it all together and put a bow on something wonderful!
I originally saw the 2014 movie two or three years ago. This is possibly one of the best TV adaptations, I have ever seen. This particular episode was amazing. Everyone from Pee-wee Herman to Wesley snipes as blade shows up as the vampire council including the original cast from the 2014 movie. This is a testament to the dark comedy and have fun at the show can be with so many high profile cameos!
I do wish the original cast from the 2014 movie would have a little larger presence in the series.
Dark Matter: Nowhere to Go (2017)
WHY
PLEASE DONT END IT HERE! It would be another SYFY miss. Since Stargate Atlantis or Giving away Doctor Who, you have consistanly dropped original content and replaced it with stale or "shudder" style shows. "SciFi" was your best incarnation. I feel like you keep toying with the ability to become something beautiful and cerebral but you keep dropping great programming. Stop letting Hulu and Netflix pick up where you left off and compete!
