Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011)
a horrible film
Just because a film makes money, doesn't mean it's a success. This film is complete crap. When will the studios in Hollywood realize that if the film was actually good, you would make MORE MONEY. I don't think I have read one positive review, and the ones that hint at something positive simply say it's tolerable to watch in a "shut your brain off, and watch robots hit each other" Well, Transformers if much more then just robots hitting one another, there's a mythology to Transformers, something that these films completely ignore.
The good thing is, I'm sure they will go with another director for the inevitable "reboot" of the franchise, the sad thing is it's taken 10 years of a bad director running the franchise into the ground to finally get things back on track.
Bunnyman (2011)
a good film ! enough already
Here we go again. I am writing this only to help counteract some of the idiocy in other reviews. This movie is not for everyone: no movie is. It is a well shot, slow-paced, and unique horror movie. It is asinine to critique a film for not being something you expect it to be. That is the exact reason why I love the film, it's not your standard horror slasher film.
The film has surreal imagery, a example pointed out was a scene with a giant bunny listening to classic music as it tortures a blonde girl. What I like is that the film has a David Lynch type surrealism, but always stays in the confines of a comprehensive story. The film has more interest in doing things unique, unexpected then just showing another gory scene of some blonde bimbo being killed.
I think we can agree, whether you love the film or hate it, (I happen to love the film) we should all appreciate filmmakers wanting to make unique horror films and encourage them, or we'll just get another countless sequel to Friday the 13th.
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (2009)
horrible film
someone needs to fire michael bay !!!! yes this movie made a lot of money, but you know what.... if the movie was actually good, it would have made even MORE money. The producer/studio I would surmise just look at the bottom line and see the franchise is making money, so they don't want to change anything. they don't care about the reviews. However, I would hope someone down the line looks at the reviews, see they are driving the franchise (at some point) into the ground, and then they will "re-boot" the franchise....
this film does NOT respect the property, does not care about why we love the brand, and does not make any attempt to actually make a good film (that could stand as a good film in it's ownright without skating by on the brand name to sell tickets). someone needs to step in and make a film worthy of the brand name.
then once a good film is made, you will see even more money, if that's truly all that's important to you (the producers) ?
Shattered Lives (2009)
a GOOD low budget horror film
this is a very underrated film. it's not a standard horror film by any means, and I think that's where it gets misunderstood. for example, you have the standard moment in the beginning of the film (the killer wears a gas mask! which I'm surprised aren't used more in this genre) where someone gets killed (nothing special so far)..... but then the film also shows the same scene at the end of the film, but now having watched the film, we see what leads up to the event, and we see it in a new perspective. i.e. seeing a horror movie from the "monsters" point of view. Also, you got to love little clown midgets, that sounds weird, but are wonderfully creepy in a Tim Burton kind of way. highly recommended.
Shadows of the Dead (2004)
good but slow
I agree the film is slow, but it's good. Good ideas. When I watched the film, it was like I was also going through this slow deformation, and deteriorating with the characters. People knock the pacing of the film, but it was never meant to be a horror film. Think about it, the story is about them holed up and rotting. It's not a serial killer film, it's not about killing. it's about two people rotting and what it means to be alone. People just have pre conceived notions going into a genre picture, and it's sad when they get something else. I like the story very much, and other people must too, since obviously ZOMBIE HONEYMOON is a complete rip off of this film. Shame on them. Anyway, I highly recommend this film.
