Naui ajusshi (2018)
A tale of humanity, kindness and selfless love.
I started K dramas mostly for romance and I won't be wrong if I say that I always go for genres that are listed as romance and comedy. But after reading the reviews and popularity of My Ahjussi I thought of giving it a try. When I started with it I was at the verge of dropping the show but I continued. And just after 1 episode I was hooked. My Ahjussi is not an easy watch and it won't be shocking if you cry bucket full tears as I did. But if you are looking for something deep with no- nonsense stuff then you need to be patient and watch this show.
It depicts humanity in the most purest form and the power of kindness. It has some of the most powerful dialogues backed with powerful performances by the actors. I was not able to point out a single plot hole in the whole run of 16 episode. It is a must must watch and do not miss this gem of a show.
Him-ssen yeo-ja Do Bong-soon (2017)
A fresh take on typical romcoms
I am an Indian and have recently started watching K-dramas. I would really say that this show is just so so lovely. From the perfect comic timing to mushy romantic scenes to the hints of thriller and suspense it has it all. The lead pair have crackling chemistry even though when the story is not cliche where you get a docile and submissive female lead. Park bo young is super cute and adorable that you certainly fall in love with her. I felt like crying whenever she cried and laughed when she was all happy go lucky.
About the actor Park hyung sik I just loved him from the start to end. He is funny, cute, hot, emotional and have the power to make women dream about a man like him. The way he looks at Bong-Soon and caresses her in romantic scenes are so gooey and dreamy that you will fall in love with him. His expressions and emotions whenever Bong-soon shows affection towards him are just so so so good that you want to see him even more. I am appreciating it more also because most of the shows doesn't portray the emotions of the male leads so transparently but this show does that and I found it quite amusing.
The one thing I did not liked about the show were the side stories and extra humor added by other characters. I had to skip those parts as I found it quite boring and they did not contribute much to the story. I guess the leads were good enough in adding the humor quotient to the show. Instead of those parts i would have really loved to see some more romantic moments of the lead couple.
Itazura na Kiss: Love in Tokyo (2013)
Sweet romantic comedy
The story is as cliche as it can get where two starkly opposite individuals are on a journey of love. The only difference is that the girl is the first one to fall in love with the cold hearted snob. The comic timing of the the lead actress is super fun to watch and is sure to put you in splits at various moments. The over the top love and clinging attitude of the girl is sometimes hard to comprehend but still i would say it is a light hearted watch.
The male lead does justice to this character but I felt he was shown a bit too cold even as the show progressed. I really wished a more warmer side of his in the next season. It would have been lovely if a little bit of his emotional side were also conveyed to the audience.
