Dexter: New Blood (2021)
Don't be skeptical
I can't sit here and write that it's a perfect ending, but i can with no doubt tell you it's a good one. The final episode is deserved of an 8/10, no sarcasm. I read about 20 spoiler free reviews of the finale leading up to it cause i couldn't help myself, and all i saw was dissapointment - so i had very low expectations going in. After about an hour talking it over with my girlfriend (who's binged watched the entirety with me), we felt that the writers choices we're brutal, but damn justified.
It's no Vince Gilligan ending, and certainly not a fairytale ending, but it is an ending i am very satisfied with for multiple reasons. This is a spoiler free review, so that is all i can say - and tell anyone who is reading not to be skeptical and enjoy one last M99 with Dexter Morgan. (Dark Passenger: A little cliché maybe?)
Monster (2022)
Put some praise on Richard Jenkins!
A fabulous tragedy. This series turns the inside's out, literally... You might feel disgust, disbelief, and perhaps sick. Angry, sad, or sorry for Jeffrey. - Whatever you feel is not wrong.
I recommend taking some time off and watching something else when it gets tough. I myself usually binge shows, but with this - for me it wasn't possible.
That being said, it is a beautiful telling of a real and gruesome serial killer - his unspeakable actions and its repercussions. The Dahmer family, the victims families, the police, every angle is tackled masterfully.
Excellent camera work, especially the absurd close-close ups that makes you feel trapped in the room with Jeff. It really gets under your skin...
Lastly, perfect casting! The writing is d*mn good, so ofcourse that helps (Worth noting: some of it is actual words spoken during the real events). But, Evan Peters as Jeffrey Dahmer gets the mannerisms and body movement just right. And it is astonishing with the way he manages to get the tone of Jeff's voice heard on interviews spot on. He's balancing on a razor blade and he's locked in! His performance have been covered widely, but i couldn't help mentioning it.
Lastly x2: With the title of this review i wanted to give credit to Richard Jenkins! His scenes towards the end really got to me. Both me and my viewing companion couldn't stop tears shedding for Lionel Dahmer and the mountain of weights put on his shoulders after the reveal.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
The devil did NOT make me write this, but...
The other reviews did! I agree that Wan is a master at the job by this point, and for sure - most scenes doesn't have the magic touch we're used to.
That bring said, everything else about this movie is so perfect that it doesn't need it! And furthermore, so perfect that it's even better than 1 and 2 - and that's without «Wan's magic touch». (Except for the ending, which is «just» great and not perfect).
The depth of this movie is far greater than it's predecessors. Think about it, in the previous conjuring films you have the family in need, the warrens, and a love story - and they explore those.
With this movie, you can never guess what's next. There is constant tension, and a strong feeling of urgency. The writing and some of the one liners is just too good!
The Conjuring is about the true cases of the Warrens, and they have done much more than help a family home haunting. They are the main characters in these movies, so ofcourse we'll get the narrative from their perspective.
The film has several great twists, in which none of them are predictable. Patrick and Vera are so good they drag you in with a simple face expression...
This, is a devil of a movie! A brilliant work of filmmaking.
Story: 10/10
Writing, dialogue, editing, sound: 10/10
Cgi: 10/10
Acting: 10/10
Scares: 8/10
Detail: 8/10 (Missing Wan's magic touch)
Overall: 9/10.
Winter's Bone (2010)
Worst movie i've ever seen.
Look, i've seen some bad stuff. The Game of Thrones finale, the Star Wars holiday special, the terrible mortal kombat movie - and let me tell you! They are outstanding masterpieces compared to Winter's bone. It's genre is "thriller", yet there's no suspense what so ever. Whatever music there is is calming, and dull. All the characters are extremely shallow, there is just not a single interesting aspect of this movie! That being said, no movie is a one star, but i can't believe people are voting it above 4! Insane. Do not watch this movie. Yuck, i can't believe i sat through it all.
Supernatural: The Long Road Home (2020)
A beautiful homage
After 15 years, the cast and crew look back at the most memorable moments. Classic episodes, character introductions, unforgettable props, and the big story lines. No road lasts forever. This has everything to prepare you for the series finale.
Supernatural: Carry On (2020)
Do not listen to the haters
This episode is the most incredible episode you will ever watch. I have never shed so many tears in front of a tv. When it was done, my head was heavy, my face was red but my heart was happy.
It is a satisfying end! This is not the season finale, this is the series finale. Keywords are Love and Family - what the show ultimately is about!
The guys giving this a 1/10 rating is a shame to the SPN Family and the cast and crew who has put their heart and soul into this episode, and series.
They are honestly silly! They don't get Supernatural. To Jensen and Jared, to Kripke and Singer, to the rest of the actors and crew: You did an amazing job with this episode, and the true fans recognise this. Thank you. #SupernaturalForever
Supernatural (2005)
THIS. IS. IT.
This is the show. THE SHOW.
I'll be fair, it's not the best show - but that's not what i mean when i say it is "THE SHOW"
This show has flaws, but a show without flaws are near impossible to find. An example of shows without flaws in my opinion is the first six seasons of Game of Thrones, and Breaking Bad. But Supernatural, is better.
Did this get confusing? Let me explain. Supernatural isn't better because it's the better show. But it is the show that will easily take the number 1 spot on your list ahead of Game of Thrones and Breaking Bad, because - it will be your favorite.
And that's what i mean. If you watch the entire show, or half of it - it's guaranteed to be your favorite show.
It doesn't matter that it's not perfect, because this show will drag you in like no other.
You will feel for the Brothers. The love, connection and chemistry of these 2 Brothers and incredibly skillfull actors, is what's going to hook you for the entire road.
You watch as they face unbelievable challenges, and they grow stronger and closer together.
Supernatural is a show that takes unexpected turns at unexpected times. And they are all brilliant. The story flourishes and you will never get bored of it!
A long the road new characters get introduced, bad or good, but they are alle unique and you can appriciate them in their own way.
Finally i will say, you might get the wrong taste from episode 2 and up in the first season. But i guarantee you, finish season 1 and this will be your show.
Paranormal, horror, biblical, romance, love, friendship, comedy, loss, death, character progression, captivating story. It has it all !!
(if i forgot something it probably has that too)
A huge thanks to Eric Kripke for creating this show. A huge thanks to Jensen Ackles, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins for the excellent job of playing these extraordinary characters.
We as the supernatural fandom will never let this one die. (i feel like golum rn)
THIS IS THE SHOW. GO WATCH IT.
Supernatural: Atomic Monsters (2019)
Don't listen to the others
This was an amazing episode! And i want to point out, NO NARRATOR. People leave bad reviews and claim there is a narrator speaking over the episode. They must have downloaded some other version. The start was mindblowing, followed by an intriguing plot with an even more intriguing side plot, and finished off by 2 excellent and satisfying endings that leaves you wanting to watch the next one.
