Badhaai Do (2022)
Amazing plot, acting and direction
They picked a unused plot, added a funny story, signed with excellent actors and created this movie. Kudos to all involved in making this picture. Decent (but many) songs. Believable instances.
Bombay Begums (2021)
Buddhe - Buddhee ka excessive kissing
This is a terrible show with bad feminist story line. Too many extramarital affairs. Sex scenes with clothes on!
Bhonsle (2018)
Slowest movie ever made
Great attempt to make the world's slowest predictable movie.
Panchayat (2020)
Excellent story and acting
One of the best Hindi serial in a serene setting unlike the current othercity based in artificial environment.
Paatal Lok (2020)
Meaningless Story
Excellent acting by the newcomers. The story is terrible especially the Chitrakoot connection.
Barfi! (2012)
Plagiarized
Its director Anurag Basu is a notorious plagiarizer. True to his reputation he has made Barfi with scenes copied from multiple non-Indian movies like Singing in the Rain, Cops, The Notebook, The Adventurer and City Lights.
Even film's background score is a copy of Amelie.
The actors have copied the original acting pretty well. Although the director has acknowledged Chaplin, Keaton and Mr Bean as inspirations but the screen credits do not reference any other movies.
Being a plagiarized movie (and its music), it is very embarrassing that it is the official Indian entry for Oscars!
Gali Gali Chor Hai (2012)
Must watch
This movie is a great portrayal of corruption in India. I shows how common man gets entangled in it. Common man loses to the corrupt. It depicts life in a medium city.
It uses Bhopali accent, and Bundelkhandi dialect. Acting of every one is fantastic. Annu Kapoor excels as a greedy policeman. Vijay Raaj looks like a real thief. Mugdha Godse is overbearing, but tolerable.
Ramleela is entertaining and the characters funny. Akshaye Khanna and Shreya Sharan are typical middle class characters.
It is an off beat movie that is very close to reality. Overall, it is a must watch.
The Japanese Wife (2010)
No depth, story or punchline
It is another pseudo artistic movie. I watched hoping being an Aparna Sen movie it should be good, but was disappointed.
It lacks story, acting as well as punchline. Reema is totally wasted. There is no depth nor details. Instead of Japanese it could have easily been Mumbai wife.
How they became pen-friends remains a mystery.
There is old style thunderstorm and rain to emphasize something bad is going to happen.
Despite being relatively short movie, it is tiring and unrealistic.
There is a young guy and a young widow living under one roof with no hot outcome ... totally unrealistic in today's world.
Overall, it is an avoidable movie. Be ready to be disappointed.
Road, Movie (2009)
Unrealistic Arty
This movie has so many unrealistic details and unnatural moments that it turns out to be a poor attempt at making an Art film.
For some reason the mechanic (Satish Kaushik) wears a hat and jacket in extremely hot Rajasthan. The truck never needs diesel but does keep failing for lack of water. Despite heat, dirt and no water hero's (Abhay Deol's) vest is shining white, and every actor's clothes remain as neat as they were on day one of their journey.
There is hardly any storyline, and the dialogues are terrible. The language sounds filmi. The truck has Marathi style Hindi spellings though it is shown to be in Rajsthan. The short time with villain (Yashpal Sharma) is unnecessary. The young widow (Tanishtha) and driver (Abhay Deol) should have had some more passionate scenes.
Overall, it feels like it is an out of context copy of some foreign movie(s).
