Material (2012)
Cassim's maturity in handling situation, unconscious triggers from brown parents.
A young man belonging to brown parents family desires to be someone below his hearts. Brown parents are usually confined to religion, customs, culture and money. It's important to them to have security, to retain their family business or shop rather than following their heart desired passions. Those time were like such when they grew up, economy played a vital role in their lives because money literally governed lives in order to survive. This was because of the suffering of the previous generation on their condition on poverty and this generation of people are facing pressures to fulfill family duties and surrender to organised way if living rather than following hearts desires and passion. This chain of expectation induces some unconscious sadism in brown parents. Because they didn't persue their dreams and heart desires which makes them to stop their children also to confine into their path. The protagonist in this movie is facing the same and what I feel is that this person Cassim is handling this situation pretty artistically and he has that potential. Those stand up comedy shows he used to give talking about the narrowness of religion and culture and releasing it off into laughter in the form of stand up comedy and also surviving with his family and taking care of them as well. It was in the form of everyday catharsis and also maturity of the Cassim.
PS. Zulfa and Cassim is just really ship worthy.
Wolkenbruchs wunderliche Reise in die Arme einer Schickse (2018)
Understanding the survival pain between orthodox parents and love life
Most of orthodox family children have problems with their romantic relationships, because staying in Orthodox family obeying their rules and managing a relationship outside exhausting because guilt trips, hiding and the emotional drainage. Psychologically speaking, the perception of love and romantic partnership is defined by how parents potrey their relationship in front of us. And same pattern we tend to project on our romantic relationships also. It's sometimes challenging to make decisions and react to different situations and inability to take mature steps, just depending on trial and error. So just going with the feels, that is desires and pleasures and owning upto your own responsible decisions of relationships going against wishes of parents is also risky at times for the sake of personal security and speaking practically. These scenarios are highly common in any othodox families. But what is the truth and validation one would be seeking even from the person who motti desires to be in a relationship with this girl and going against the family in the name of love, how do children from orthodox families take the decision to move in a relationship with significant other. It needs to re-evaluated to take the decision rationally and maturely rather than having ego and pride against his orthodox parents and being driven by harmones.
The Great Gatsby (2013)
Motive of Gatsby's love to Daisy
A man and woman fall in love, but due to their circumstances they can't be together, due to lack of security that he couldn't give to Daisy, or he didn't feel he deserved her because he couldn't give her the material happiness, security that she needed. Gatsby spends his life making things for her, to make her happy gaining all material needs and comforts so that finally they could be together in peace. This sort of understanding made Gatsby to be someone, to have something in order to receive love. Yes sometimes when you meet love of your life you don't feel like deserving the person and take sometime for each other to develop the trust, test and ability to value each other, or the circumstances might not let them to be together. But in this situation Gatsby has gone to gain material possessions also lot of fame and finally he has it all just to share with daisy but things don't go that way and he finally dies having lived for her and owned so much of possessions. Considering all these, for one to deserve, or accept, or receive love, should one own the possessions and riches to share with the beloved, or is there another motive to self approval or validation needed in order to receive love and accept? Motive would be the reason we would choose to love this person, the reason and the cause of it.
The Society (2019)
Allie's poor leadership skills
I binge watched this show, as I followed it didn't make sense when Cassandra gets murdered and Allie excutes Dewey just by hearing about it from Harry without any proper evidence. It more seemed like the execution occurred just for the sake of it. It more looked Allie's ego recognition sake the execution happened. Whereas when Sam tells about Campbell psychopathic behaviour Allie fails to take action. It seemed like Allie was forced into that position and was just trying to create a fit persona to prove to be a worthy leader where it's just was not for the sake of running the society. And yes it's definitely sure that she was forced that position and her emotions got mixed with her sister's murder revenge.
One of most appritiated characters for in this would be Sam, even though he got a sad ending, the understanding and maturity in him was great. I would say him to say the truth that he got the guy he was waiting for to Becca and she would definitely understand him.
Over-all it's a mystery teen drama, it has remained still mysterious to me that to whom did that dog belong to.
Revolutionary Road (2008)
In Gender perspective
The couple in this movie tries like every other couple to not to become one of those whom they saw when growing up. To not to repeat the same mistakes. That how due to family responsibilities they denied their own self Identity and failed to live the life beyond the borders of their gender roles. Kate Winslet in this movie wanted her husband to pursue things he was passionate about, to see life to feel alive. As a women she did see herself and people around her going through these phases of repressing their talents to fit in and lead a normal life. When a women grows up, experiences around really affects the way she would think and feel about relationships and people, and to protect their vurnerablity they tend develop different thinking through their experiences. Which actually resulted her to have less concern towards fulfilling her Gender roles. Her love for her husband convinces him to take it up see it as a good for their marriage to keep it alive and to bring change for the better. As they challenge gender roles and take up a step ahead to go on with the plan to move to Paris. People around them starts to comment about their choice they made, but still their bonding is strong that they hold on to it. Since they challenged gender roles, to go Paris and Leo to experience to feel alive there, where Kate will be working. This is about switching the gender roles to overcome the stereotype and support each other. In this brave step their gender identity itself becomes their weak point stopping them to go Paris as Kate becomes pregnant and Leo's man ego stop him to quit his job completely. When kate actually realises this situation, it just made her feel all alone in this choice. Which just made her feel to think her pregnancy acted as a bar for them to go to Paris and she tries to abort herself. In the end can we say that to define a relationship or marriage is it just the way of limiting ourselves to fit in around people and societal expectations or trying to overcome the gender stereotype but supporting each other's dreams and desires remines to be answered yet.
