Christmas Eve (2020)
9/10
Heartbreaking
9 December 2023
Wow ! Give Producer/Writer/Actor Jenna Nolan a $2,000 budget, a super talented cast and crew, and twenty minutes and see what happens. "Christmas Eve" is a heartbreaking yet heartwarming short film about what may be a young womans last Christmas. Beautifully shot and wonderfully acted, big Hollywood studios wish they could make a film like this. Keep the tissues handy, if this story doesn't bring a tear to your eyes, nothing will. Jenna Nolan is absolutely amazing as "Eve", her performance is definitely Award Worthy. I hope Jenna, Director Michael Coulombe, and everyone involved receive all the praise and recognition they deserve for this 2020 short film. Seek it out, you won't be disappointed !

A Very Good Indie Horror
23 October 2023
Low budget horrors can be hit or miss, "Macabre Mountain" is definitely a hit. A good story, beautiful cinematography, excellent sound and a fantastic score by Paul Wiley (Terrifier 1 & 2). The filmmakers got everything possible out of every dollar on this movie.

Featuring Felissa Rose, Xander Goldman, Dave Sheridan, LC Holt, Hannah Fierman, Robert Mukes, Denny Nolan, Kamarra Cole, Jackie Kelly, and Stephanie Swift, "Macabre Mountain" has an outstanding cast of genre favorites. Also, Ashley Rae shines in every scene in her film debut as "Shelby Lane". Overall a very well acted Indie film.

If you dig Indie horror/action/thrillers with a touch of comedy and a cast of familiar faces, "Macabre Mountain" is a movie you will definitely enjoy !

A Decent Indie Western/Horror
18 April 2023
A nice addition to the western/horror genre. The Mahal Brothers make great looking Indie films when compared to most, and they are usually a fun watch. "Night..." continues that trend. An interesting story, quality sound, and great looking creatures. I'm sure people will have issues with the lighting consistency, but for me it wasn't an issue because we can actually see what is happening as opposed to the usual pitch black screen in most horror movies. The acting performances were hit or miss which is par for the course in Indie films. Again, not an issue for me. Angela Cole owns this movie hands down. She's fantastic. Richard Grieco, Denny Nolan, and Shawn C Phillips were standouts for me as well. If you dig Indie Horror, give it a try.

Killer Party (1986)
5/10
Could Have Been A Classic
11 April 2022
"Killer Party" could have been right there with the best 80s horrors made during that wonderful decade.

Sadly it ends up being as mediocre as a horror/slasher can be, thanks to the MPAA making the filmmakers cut and slash the film to pieces. All of the deaths are instantly cut away from, and come too quickly after the previous one. The tempo and story suffer greatly because of this.

The actors and atmosphere are fine, but the movie starts out kind of slow, and then because of all the cuts, once things get going, the movie ends quite quickly. Sad, because "Killer Party" could have been special in the horror genre.

Porn Shoot Massacre (2009 Video)
10/10
Delivered Exactly As Advertised
16 February 2021
It's not titled Citizen Kane, it's called Porn Shoot Massacre, and for once, a low budget indie horror delivers exactly what we expect from it's title. Is there a porn shoot ? Is there a massacre ? Yes to both. Thus, lots of nudity and a majority of the cast meets their end. (unfortunately, offscreen in many cases) If you expect a great script and outstanding acting, sound, and cinematography from a film like this, and find only disappointment, that's on you. I went in thinking this would be a so bad it's good(ish) horror full of gorgeous women and a total low budget look and mediocre story, and that's exactly what I got. Expectations met. Beats wasting 90 minutes of my life on some big budget garbage like Slender Man, which delivered absolutely nothing. Oftentimes in horror, much less, budget included, is more...

Fun From Proportion Productions
16 February 2021
Another decent effort from the gang at Proportion Productions. Many crew/actors appear from film to film. Think American Horror Story but instead with UK Horror movies and you've got the idea. As it's difficult to do something new in horror, it's all about effort, writing, quality, and holding our interest these days. Horror in particular, is a very personal genre, we all definitely don't love or hate the same movies.

The Candy Witch is your typical vengeful spirit/haunted house flick. While not the best,, I found it to be a lot of fun, certainly better than a lot of movies of it's type. The cast and crew, while not very experienced, did a good job making a nice little horror. The practical gore effects were well done. It held my interest, which many horrors today fail to do. My only issue with the film is that a couple of times the witch herself looked pretty lame. Too much light and she looked kinda bogus. Otherwise, no real complaints. With a few more films under their belts, Proportion Productions might become a player, sort of like Blumhouse Productions, whom I've seen them compared to.

The cast featured Jon Callaway, Kate Lush, and my new UK Scream Queen Crush, Abi Casson Thompson. Abi has only done a handful of films so far, but she gets better every outing, as do the rest of the cast and crew. Hopefully future films by these folks will show continued improvement with each effort.

In the end, I'm giving The Candy Witch a 6/10 rating. They didn't reinvent the wheel, but they made a better than average vengeful spirit/haunted house movie, and nowadays, that's enough for me.
