The Inspector Lynley Mysteries: In the Blink of an Eye (2006)
Love the inspector Lynley mysteries: No chemistry with new Helen
I am a fan of the inspector, Lynley mysteries, particularly of the main characters: Inspector Lynley. Sgt Havers and now DC, Winston, as they've been giving him larger parts.
But bringing in a new actress to play the role of Helen, the estranged wife of Inspector Lynley? A very bad choice. They would have done better just to write her off.
If you've been watching the inspector, Lynley mysteries the first actress, Leslie Vickerage, that played Helen came across as very fragile hence her separation after her miscarriage due to the horrible accident. The new actress that played Helen, Catherine Russell has absolutely no chemistry with Nathaniel Parker. And the way she portrays the character does not seem fragile at all but rather more like a friend that wants to have fun. Really bad casting.
Enterprise (2001)
We found enterprise on UPN no problem: We Didn't like Bakula as Captain
The center seat: 55 years of Star Trek has it wrong. We were able to find Star Trek. We just did not like it. It was obvious Bakula was not a Star Trek fan. He just didn't get it. And his acting in this part was off like he wanted to extend his on scene time. The doctor however, was a great part.
And the theme song? 🤢Gross. Any Trekkie knows Star Trek is not pseudo pop music .
Star trek is much better when they have people in power off that are fans. That get all the Star Trek lore. Have you ever watched a sci-fi movie a soft pop rock sounding theme?
The newer shows gave a nod to the old Star Trek theme. Kudos for that.
Star Trek: Strange New Worlds: Ad Astra Per Aspera (2023)
I don't need to be taught a lesson
Normally, I love the ideas that Star Trek brings across. But I really felt like this was more of a public service announcement for equality. That would work in a public service announcement. This lesson was too transparent and condescending which got really boring. Because it went on and on. However, I really do like Yetide Badaki's character of Neera Ketoul and hope to see more of this character in the future. I am sorry to hear that there will no longer be another season of Star Trek Discovery. But I like the portrayal of the Klingons much better in Discovery. You can see so much more expression of the characters in this format which makes it easier to understand the characters.
New Tricks (2003)
Loved the original cast, but the chemistry went down with each original after gone
I'm still watching the last season of new tricks. But once Dennis Waterman left, it's just background TV. I've lost interest in the story. The backstory with all of the characters is what really made it endearing.
Nicholas Lyndhurst has no chemistry with his love interest. I hate it when they try and make him sexy. Dennis Waterman had impish charm. Nicolas seems like a nice chap. But he seems stilted when he tries to be sexy. He's just not.
The characters are not interchangeable. It was still OK when James Bolam left. Denis Lawson really seemed to fit in.
It would've been nice if they had a nice ending when Amanda Redman left. Loved the show.
My Family (2000)
All I watched was the trailer: Disappointed with laugh track.
I have been enjoying BritBox. So I watched the trailer on this recommended show and was disappointed to find that this British show contains canned laughter like American shows. If it's funny, it doesn't need a laugh track. For me laugh tracks are distracting and condescending. A show should be able to stand on its own. If something funny, I will laugh out loud, but not with laugh tracks.
I've always enjoyed the witty, sometimes haughty and sometimes cheeky British humor of shows that don't take themselves seriously, like Agatha Raisin, New Tricks Doc Martin and the Madame Blanc Mysteries.
I will not be adding My Family to this list.
Law & Order: Organized Crime: Streets Is Watching (2022)
Goof
Midway through the show Jet is wearing 2 braided side buns. When she is shown again a few minutes later she is wearing the braids atop her head St. Pauli Girl style and her clothing is also similar but different.
Bird Box (2018)
They should have kept the original ending
I won't give any spoilers. But the original ending would have made more sense. It was a good movie that had a dissatisfying ending because it didn't make sense. Unless directors are writers they shouldn't rewrite endings of movies.
