Judd Apatow: The Return (2017)
If you like Judd Apatow and his kind of humour, you'll love this.
I laughed out loud throughout and even peed a little. An honest, genuinly nice man, husband and father sharing hilarious stories with great pathos and comic timing.
The Book of Boba Fett: Chapter 7: In the Name of Honor (2022)
Could have been better but a solid season finale
Overall, they stuck the landing. A little over the place at times, but with great moments sprinkled in; just like the season in general.
One of the series' strengths is it's set up an excellent start for the third season of The Mandalorian.
The Witcher (2019)
Season 2 is exceptional. It's incredible how much better it is than Season 1
I was not a big fan of The Witcher's first season. In fact, upon writing this review after watching season two, I discovered I had given the show a rating of 3/10 following season one. I've now changed it to 8/10.
Yeah, this is kind of improvement we're talking about here!
Of course, a big part of the reception of a show or film comes down to how viewers felt about the show. From season one, The Witcher had a big following. My issues with the show for season one had to do with the quality of the directing and, in particular, the writing. Well, season two is in my opinion brilliantly written, and well directed. From the story, the characters to the action, this is great television.
Regarding the original material this season is based on, the show is taking liberties and changing the story around quite a bit. Nonetheless, they have done a fantastic job, giving us a different and very enjoyable take on the world and characters we know and love.
For example, to get a sense of how much better this season is over the last one (If, like me, you felt the first season was lacking), and I cannot believe I'm saying this, I find the show's adaptation of A Grain of Truth better than Andrzej Sapkowski's original short story!
If you didn't enjoy the first season, definitely give season two a shot. Heck; if you couldn't finish the first season, just jump straight to season two and catch up by watching the 'previously on' montage.
I went from not caring much about the show, to gagging for season three!
Bo Burnham: Inside (2021)
Inside: A Musical Comedy Masterpiece
I'm in awe of what Bo Burnham has achieved. From the jokes, the meaning behind the words and visuals, the music, cinematography and edit. I laughed out loud, was saddened and reflected.
An extraordinary, honest work and a time capsule of our time.
