It's a Wonderful Life (1946)
Love it, except!!
We watch It's a Wonderful Life every year. It is a superb movie. The only thing that gets my goat is Potter never gets his comeuppance for keeping the $8000. I love the chemistry between Jimmy Stewart and Donna Reed. I cry when Mr. Gower hits George on the ear. I know it was panned when it came out because it was supposedly against capitalism but I don't see it that way. I dislike Potter because he steals not because he's rich. The acting is great by everyone. I love the maid. We just never know the impact we have on other people's lives-for good, hopefully, not for the bad. I highly recommend the movie.
Aurora Teagarden Mysteries: Something New (2023)
Needed a different Sally
The movie was okay as a prequel. Of course people are supposed to be younger and that is to be expected. However, height at the college age has been established especially for females. The actress playing the young Sally was way too short. (And not as skinny as the older Sally but exercise and eating right can fix that). She did sound like Sally which was a plus but it was so hard to get past her height.
Yes, the background of getting to know the early characters was enjoyable. Seeing Aida not being as confident in her real estate business was interesting.
However, I didn't keep it on the DVR.
Pumpkin Pie Wars (2016)
Get some authenticity
Overall I liked this movie. The acting was decent and the plot was good. I always enjoy a Hallmark movie when it has elements of things I like to do-baking, sewing, fashion etc. However, that just heightens the disappointment when Hallmark does stupid things.
Casey and Sam are in the kitchen practicing and he mentions the oven is now at 350 after being preheated, there's some dialogue and then they leave. They don't turn the oven off, they don't use the oven.
In another scene Casey brings her dad something from the bakery and it has a big huge cinnamon stick on top of it. There's not a baker that would do that. You can't eat it and it wastes money for a bakery that is struggling.
During the bake off, the ovens are wide open, yes they are putting their items in the oven but their back is too the ovens while they finish preparing their loaf to put in the oven. One would never leave the oven door open that long, the heat loss would be a lot!!
But I did enjoy it and was disappointed that I hadn't recorded it.
Next Stop, Christmas (2021)
Where's the blood
In the opening scene, you see two doctors/surgeons walking back into the prep room(whatever it's called) taking their gloves off, there is no blood anywhere-not on the scrubs, not on the gloves. Come on, make it authentic looking. It's not that hard.
Like another reviewer mentioned the ending was lacking. Overall the movie is okay. I enjoyed seeing the folks from back to the future. The movie had that time travel feel of back to the future, along with a nod to The Lakehouse( when she tells him to meet her at a restaurant 10 years) why so long??? It wasn't a total waste of time.
Just disappointed in the lack of authenticity.
A Taste of Summer (2019)
Clean softball uniforms-Really???
Typical Hallmark movie. The softball team practiced and played a game without getting dirty. Just saying Hallmark at least try to make it authentic looking by having dirt on the uniforms.
A Very Country Wedding (2019)
Really??
Just watched this last night on UP. It was okay. But when Zane was supposedly 15 minutes away, then traffic stopped and he got out and ran.(if they were going 35 mph, they were approximately 8.5 miles away). Once he got to her store, he was not sweaty, he was not out of breath and he wore the same thing to dinner.
Running over 8 miles would have taken a while. They could have done that scene more realistically.
Christmas Coach (2019)
UGH
One of the worst, if not the worst Hallmark Christmas movie-ever!! The main gal was way too saccharin sweet and she was a bobble head doll. We didn't even finish. Her clothes were horrible. The tree they chose to cut down was not huge. It was deleted from the dvr.
All for Love (2016)
Pretty Good
Yes, this is your typical Hallmark movie. There's a misunderstanding about a female and there's a hesitant male, overall it was a good movie.
However, for a person who never traveled anywhere most likely didn't have a passport so going to New Zealand wouldn't just happen on the spur of the moment like in the movie. Maybe had she mentioned she had a passport but never traveled, the spur of the moment travel might have worked. That would have been a doable conversation when she was talking to Colin about being adventurous.
Beverly Hills Wedding (2021)
Love Brooke
It's your normal hallmark movie of ex's meeting again and falling in love. The sister is too pushy about her sisters wedding. In discussing the moms wedding dress that the sister wants to wear, it is described as having a sweetheart neckline and an empire waist. However when the wedding happens, the dress has neither. I know the wedding planner said they could alter the dress but he was talking about the fit and not the design. Come on Hallmark pay attention to the story and make things fit!!
Supermarket Sweep (2020)
Obnoxious
I found Leslie Jones obnoxiously loud and irritating. You want a host with enthusiasm but the yelling was just fingernails on a chalkboard irritating. I won't watch again.
