Cheers: How to Recede in Business (1988)
"She means the time Diane was still here" "I know precisely what she means"
In this episode we have two intertwining storylines : Sam tries once again to invite Rebecca out, and finally succeeds and however it all goes downhill when just as they are about to go out,the new company owner ends up giving Sam the old manager position back and fires Rebecca. I thought this was a fine episode, nothing major about it, I actually prefer episodes that go more full circle with the characters, the supporting characters are totally left out in this one, and in the few seconds they are on screen, they are the best part of the episode. I think Sam and Rebecca relation starts to look to much like a remake of Diane and Sam , because of how long it takes them to actually get envolved, and I think with the major difference of being his boss, Rebecca is very similar to Diane (smarter than Sam, beautiful, kind of a know it all, and now we lose the major difference because Rebecca starts serving tables as Diane did) . I thought it was ok. 6/10 ****** Peter Shelby
Family Matters: Saved by the Urkel (1993)
"I have to be grateful"
In this episode we have basically (and rarely) one storyline: Carl bans Steve from his home, but ends up having his life save by him. I thought this was a very dull episode, I can't put my finger on it, the whole "Steve I don't wanna see you again in my life" just doesn't have any effect anymore, after being done 30 times at least in 4 seasons, and because of that the whole "saving Carl's life" doesn't have that much effect either. I also found it particulary weird the way everybody felt that they had to treat Steve nice, because it was done in a way that made it seem like they really didn't like Steve, when the whole joke is that they find him annoying but they actually like him a lot, but in this episode (irony) is the one that made me feel they didn't really like him a lot, the episode was dull as hell in terms of comedy, it seemed like it was going the serious route, but it didn't stick with that but it didn't have any humor, below average. 4/10 **** Peter Shelby
Family Matters: It Didn't Happen One Night (1993)
"I'm a person!"
This second outing in the show's fifth season has two storylines: We see Laura oversleeping a cheerleading competition in another state and has to accept Steve's ride. Meanwhile Carl and Harriet have Estelle and Fletcher over for dinner.
I really enjoyed this episode, first of all it was great to have Estelle and Fletcher again, I was sure that they would drop that storyline like she never had any wedding, but gladly I was wrong, great chemistry from both of them, I was glad the entire episode didn't revolve around Harriet complaining about Carl never sharing his love for her with anyone else, it was a build up and a very quick and sweet scene between both of them ending with the always snarky remark from Harriet "Carl Winslow has to go to bed now" . While I appreciated that storyline of course the one that pumps this episode to be one of my personal favorites is everyhing about Steve and Laura situation, with the pinacle being he demanding to be treated with respect when Laura suggests she should sleep in the bed while he slept on the floor, while he pratically paid everything, and he didn't really needed to be there. The ending was funny, and was well executed. 9/10 ********* Peter Shelby
Family Matters: Hell Toupee (1993)
"How did he grow hair so fast?" "Because he ate all his vegetables"
In the debut episode of Familly Matters we have two storylines: The main one sees Steve stuck between his obsession over Laura and Myra's obssession over him, the second one is about Carl feeling insecure when Harriet makes a crack about him not having hair. First of all let me say that I really hated the whole "let's pretend Judy never existed" , yes it's true that she probably had as much lines in the whole 4 seasons she was in that Steve Urkel has in this episode alone, but it jus adds the sense of fiction, when a character is written out without any explanation, I think because of her age, there was no really way out , if it was Laura or Eddie it could have been an out of the country college or something like that, but I believe they just didn't bother and that sucks. That aside, this episode is pretty average, the main scene with Laura and Myra in a food fight it's clearly the highlight, and it genuily seems like they are having a good time (the actors I mean), personally I believe Steve is much to old now to play this kind of nerd child character, until season 4 he was visibly a child, by the time season 5 began he looks like a teenage growing into the adult age wearing child costumes. Carl's scene trying on the wigs was good, but I believe the whole reason for him to be insecure is pretty dumb, he could have seen a comercial or something like that, but because of a crack Harriet very lightly made? It just serves as an excuse for Carl to have a plot, she makes that kind of remarks all the time and he just shakes it off, not good, not bad, just ok. MVP : Myra

Night Court: Opportunity Knock Knocks: Part 2 (1992)
THE REAL FINAL EPISODE!
I just came here to warn anyone who is interesting in watching this show, and it hasn't seen this episode, that it doesn't make sense watching it as the second to last episode of the series, as it's presented. I dont actually know what made them put one episode after this, when it's obvious that this is the one that concludes things. I actually saw the trivia section of the previous episode and it said that it was in terms of the story arc the final episode, so I watched "The 1992 Boat Show" before and "Opportunity Knock Knocks" Part 1 and 2 as the final ones and I'm pretty glad I did, as that IS the perfect conclusion to the show!
Night Court: The 1992 Boat Show (1992)
Not the final episode, good enough though!

Everybody Hates Chris: Everybody Hates the BFD (2008)
"There was some place I wanted to be, but I was right where I needed to be"
In this episode we follow FOUR storylines, I know it doesn't feel like four paralell stories but it definetly is: 1. Chris borrows money from his dad to go to a concert of Run DMC with Greg. 2 Chris , in order to pay his father, takes a scholarship about funeral homes. 3 - Julius asks Tanya to wrap up money for him. 4 - Rochelle has an accident with her arm when she is about so smack Drew, but she overdoes it. I actually adore this episode, I think the episodes with Mr. Omar can become very predictable, but in this one it felt good and he was very funny "it's not about mourning the death it's about conforting the living" as he puts it. Tanya/Julius storyline doesn't really go anywhere and it brought the episodes down a couple of notches, there was only three scenes and no real point, we were just made to believe Julius thought Tanya capable of stealing because she wraps up the quarters in a different way, and lefts money behind, but she ends up giving him the money which she intend to do all along, so no real point in this one , if it was totally cut off the episode would be fine. Rochelle's story was funny, Tichina Arnold is always great . The real heart of this story is Chris's, it really seems like an ordinary 6/10 episode up until the end when he is stopped by a widow who wants to talk about her late husband, at first I thought "Ok, here we go, now she makes him lose the concert, and Chris misses the concert and that's the bad ending every episode has to have for Chris." But no, although that's precisely what happens, the way it happens it's so hearfelt, Chris really endears the widow and learns more in that night than in any concert he would've gone to, really great acting as well here, the sentence "There was some place I wanted to be, but I was right where I needed to be" really says a lot. In the end of course Chris finds out that the concert was a blast (if he would have gone it would've been horrible, that's the way the show works). Also the very ending? I saw that coming a mile away, right off the bat in the beggining of the episode when Chris said that he was doing that to get the money , I knew in the end in some way he wouldn't get it, or he would get but it would get stolen, something like that, that's how predictable these endings can be, whatever Chris is planning doesn't work, it's the journey that matters. Besides all of that, a great episode, mainly for one scene that completly elevates what would otherwise have been a run of the mill episode. MVP: Chris. 8/10 ******** Peter Shelby
Family Matters: Whose Kid Is It Anyway? (1992)
"Stop thinking Waldo, you'll hurt yourself"
In this episode we follow one storyline: Eddie goes trick or treating with Richie but dumps him for a cute girl who knocks on their door, I actually found this episode very good, the theme of Eddie's irresponsability is not a new one but it reached new heights in this chapter. I loved that the main problem didn't surround neither Steve, Carl or Laura, I can't honestly remember an episode in which this had happened. All the players did a fine job, of course Richie can be distracting because of his lack of skill to act specially because he is surrounded by many great actors, but I thought he did ok. Waldo was hilarious "You're dad is Zorro!" , the line "You leave a little kid with me and I'm the dumb one?" was also excelent. Eddie is great in here, probably the most emotional we've seen him and the actor pulls it off quite nicely. Althought Steve is barely in the episode (a welcome change) it was hilarious to see him as a frog trying to get a kiss from Laura, and then the way he mocked Eddie and Waldo was gold "Where's Richie?" " Oh...THAT'S WHAT WE DON'T KNOOOWW" . The interrogation scene was also well done "DON'T HAND US THAT!". Even Judy with her repeated line "I LOVE YOU" was hilarious. Great episode alltogether, the main problem was in fact Richie's acting which here and there can pass but when it's the focus of the episode can become a problem. Family Matters: Number One with a Bullet (1992)
"You know, you're not a very patient patient"
In this episode we have one storyline : Steve has to be rushed to emergency over his apendix, while Carl (who thinks he will be Urkel free for 3 days gets a bullet in the most bizarre of places and ends up rooming with Steve in the hospital). This was a good episode, clitche as hell, but we gotta go with it at this point. The premise of Carl and Steve stuck together at a hospital is a nice one, the gags with the bed of Carl, the musical moments of Urkel were great. I thought the scene where Steve saves Carl's life could've been a lot more tense, it could've been longer and if we didn't see Steve would be more suspenseful but Familly Matters has a thing with predictability. It was a good episode for Familly Matters standards, the decision to not have any side plot at home was a wise one. I had a problem with the ending, because how many times have we seen Carl apologizing and saying that he now gives value to Steve's friendship when we all know in the next episode he's gonna scream again at him , and that is how it's always gonna be. This sappy (fake) endings start to be a little bit too much for me. MVP : Steve Urkel. 7/10 ******* Peter Shelby
Cheers: I'll Gladly Pay You Tuesday (1985)
"No wonder it's so expensive, it's inflatable!"
In this episode we have one storyline: Diane borrows 500 dollars from Sam to get a rare autographed first edition of a Hemingway, to sell it later with a greater value since she considers 500 laughable for such a rarity. I liked this episode, it was fun, a couple of major issues however: Diana was really getting on my nerves throghout the whole episode because of the way she was flashing things she had bought, a cashmire sweater, new shoes, expensive lobster, giving large tips to the scout girl, while Sam was there waiting for the money, and the way she then gives him the book didn't make a lot of sense in my opinion, first of all, if she bought such expensive things two weeks after buying the book, then she wouldn't have needed to ask for the money, or at least that amount of money from Sam, then it's stupid of her to instead of paying him back right away while she made the sacrifice of waiting for a buyer, buying things for her and then giving him the responsability of guarding the book, when it was her that needed to do that, and last but not least what sense does it make by Sam's point of view to outbid his own proprity? Yes, I know he didn't want Diane to find out, but since the money was his to begin with, he could've simply said "I love the book, and I'm not selling it" simply as that, you can argue that Diane bought it, but she hadn't given the money to him, so if he wanted, he could've just refused it. Aside from that "plot hole" it was a fine episode, with many humurous gags, specially when Diane says it's weird lending money from Sam after their physique relationship witch prompts a very appropriate "It kind of feels like you should be given me the money doesn't it?", great chemistry between these two. MVP : Sam Malone. 6/10 Peter Shelby
Cheers: Diane's Nightmare (1985)
"Was I the one murdering you? Did I help in anyway?"
In this episode there's basically one storyline: Diane has a nightmare in wich Andy Andy has escaped from prison, she wakes up to find that Andy Andy really is back and asks her help. This was a delightful episode, although basically everything in it , it's a dream, it worked excelent. Andy Andy it's such a fun and dubious character , you never know what you're gonna get with him, the misterious plot in the beggining in the wine cellar it's all very well done, and the fact that it was all a nightmare it's even better because it distracts us that we are still in a dream, it does become very obvious that it's again a dream when Sam reveals he is an intelectual mind with great skills and his dumb ways are a manner to attract clients, it was hilarious all the way. And it showed us Diane's most fearful thoughts as well as her most desirable thoughts. MVP: Diane Chambers . 8/10 Peter Shelby
Cheers: The Groom Wore Clearasil (1985)
"I WILL NOT sleep with you!"
In this episode we have two main storylines: Carla's son wants to marry his girlfriend and Carla wants him to learn from Sam how to not be attatched to a girl, while Diane has an interview for a new job. This episode was pointless, I can't even give it an average rating, Carla's focus episode seem to have that tendency, she's great when she is secondary but when she or her family are the focus the episode feels a step down, I don't know what it is. Diane's interview was the only fun part of the episode but it was too short, too gone, too soon. Cliff was the most doll he has been, so was Norm, nothing was given to them. Woody although a nice addition to the show, seems very empty sometimes, Being an enormous "Twin Peaks" fan, seeing a cameo by Sherilyn Fenn as Gabrielle in the end was a special treat but didn't really saved anything. 4/10 MVP: Diane Chambers . Peter Shelby
Cheers: Someday My Prince Will Come (1985)
"Sam are you saying what I thing you're saying?" "You bet I am, I'd kill for a car phone"
In this episode we have only one main storyline : Diane finds a lost coat on Cheers and by the looks of it she imagines what the owner must be like and becomes infactuated with him, without even knowing him. I liked this episode, it was very consistent, the intro scene of Diane pretending to be a novelist was very amusing. This episode did something very rare in these shows, character development, we actually see Diane being what she herself calls "shallow" over the appearance of someone. I think there was a miss oportunity here with the excelent premise of the coat, I would much rather if almost all of the episode revolved around Diane analyzing what the owner must be or obssessing over finding him, the fact that he himself calls the bar and sets up the date with Diane didn't let this happen. Sam is absolutely hilarious in this episode, specially when he calls Diane Blanche after she says "it made me blanched" and in the end when he is so happy that Diane will admit that she only went out with him because he was good looking, that he doesn't understand and neither does the rest of the gang that he is admitting not having any other qualities, which nicely ties in with the intro scene about Diane trying to go along with the rest of the bar but never being in the same state of mind. Carla has a toy project of her children that provides some laughter but it was so random and short that the storyline was better cut all together Not extraordinary, but very competent. MVP : Sam Malone 7/10 Peter Shelby
Night Court: My Life as a Dog Lawyer (1991)
"What happens if I don't sign it" "You'll be listening to a lot of yodeling"
In this episode we have three storylines: Harry prosecutes an ambassor of a foreing nation wich could result in a war, Bull begins to have bad luck after the staff tears up his chain letters and Dan works in a dog court before he can move up to the night court following up the events of the previous episode. I liked this episode, the storylines were nicely intertwined with one another, poor Dan can't catch a break and it's assigned to a court who judges dog cases with a judge that decides if the animal it's guilty based on it's cuteness. Harry plays really well , and shows how smart and daring he can be to show someone a moral lesson, something that it was always present in previous seasons. Roz and Dan's friendship also comes up and it's always very genuine, such good chemistry. MVP : Dan Fielding. 7/10 Peter Shelby
Night Court: A Guy Named Phantom: Part 2 (1991)
"You'll find the keys in my paints"
This is a much better episode than it's previous set up, as I've stated what these storylines needed was a heavy load of Dan, and that's exactly what we had. I gotta say that one scene of him impersonating the rest of the staff with cardboards was one of the highlights of Dan in the entire series , specially the "Ewwooo ki" of Bull. The Harry and Christine storyline was solved very quickly and it was actually funny, although I did wish they were together. Dan's ending was great as it estabelished his good nature while turning "Will" into a new version of his brother "Phill". 7/10 Peter Shelby
Night Court: A Guy Named Phantom: Part 1 (1991)
"What a terrible nightmare!
So the last season of Night Court begins, we have three main storylines: Harry and Christina are both confused on the aftermath of their kiss. Dan is missing and the new prossecutor arouses the typer girl, and Dan poses himself as the Phantom of the Night Court taking advantage of the Night Court hosting a masked ball . I thought this episode was lackluster, the storyline of Dan as a Phantom is actually very clever and it works perfectly but I think, unfortunatly, this episode choses to focus on the Harry and Christina storyline and it gets kind of tiresome as both characters admit it themselves, Bull and Roz are mere spectators but deliver when called for, and i expect Dan to overpower (in a good way) the next episode, as for the new prossecutor I actually found him hilarious, but it's one of those things that it's hilarious because it's not gonna last, also him saying he would need some equipment to exercise prompting the response from the typer girl "I can let you step above my epileptic cat" was gold. 5/10 Peter Shelby
Family Matters: The Love God (1991)
"I wanna REALLY thank you..." "Oh, you're REALLY welcome!"
There are two storylines in this episode : Carl goes undercover as a woman to catch a mugger. Eddie wants to go out with Vonna, who is known to be quite easy with guys, and uses Steve to teach her Algebra. This was a fine episode, Carl was absolutely histerical as a woman, each scene with him was better and better, culminating in Lieutenant's outfit at the end. Vonna story wasn't all that great in my opinion, I did appreciate Steve helping Vonna to "respect" herself, but it just plays for laughs, when there is a good message here, also Laura is nowhere in this episode, she shows up in a dream sequence of Steve , but this was a great oportunity for us to see Laura being kind of jealous. The fact Vonna changes her attittude over one pep talk with Steve isn't really belieavable either. Thank god, for Carl ! 7/10 ******* Peter Shelby
Family Matters: Born to Be Mild (1991)
"Don't come back either! Gonna get a haircut!"
In this episode we have the "Dragon" crew, a bunch of bullies who go around destroying what they please, when Laura and Rachel both shut them off with the help of Carl from Rachel's Place, they revenge on Eddie.
I though this was a little above average episode, but nothing more than that, I don't really see how it is the highest rated episode of the entire show, above episodes like "Fight The Good Fight" , "Marriage 101" and "The Show Must Go on". I thought the premise was good but Eddie's "pain" was kind of rushed, we didn't really felt that pain, and Urkel while being excelent in the infiltrated persona, did kind of drag the episode, I would rather much prefer a more Eddie focus episode, and it was wasted, the ending was corny as well. However it was still a different and impactful episode. 6/10 ****** Peter Shelby
Family Matters: Making the Team (1991)
"They mean to me, they make fun of me...they..they..." "They treat you the way people treat me?"
In this episode Steve and Laura have paralels storylines: Laura tries to make it on the Cheerleader team, while Steve tries to make it on the basketball team, although the answers to these "try-outs" are very quick and early in the episode (Steve doesn't get in and Laura does), the interesting part of the episode is the way Laura for the first time puts herself in Urkel's shoes, and actually asks for his help in managing being made fun of by other cheerleading members, his advice is actually great and it does warm Laura's heart, and the spectators too "I'll be the best equipment manager there ever was, and maybe next year I'll make the team". The end is good also if predictable, the other characters are barely there, a negative. 6/10 ****** Peter Shelby
Family Matters: Robo-Nerd (1991)
"The only thing he was guilty of, was having good taste"
In this episode we have two storylines: Carl is (once again) worried that his mother is dating. Steve Urkel designs a robot version of himself in orden to win a science contest. I really liked this episode, although the Carl premise is a tired one, the conclusion is (so expected) but actually cute, as we see him training alone to be harsh to his momma, only to apologize to her when she is in front of him. I love Estelle , but the way everything she says it's received with a "wooo" from the audience it's kind of anoying, it's like because she is much older she wasn't supposed to be smart or witty. This part is overcompensated however by the brilliant plot of Steve's part, this was when Steve Urkel was in this prime, the idea is great, it's greatly executed, the robot is so funny, the ending kind of pays homages to old sci fi horror films, like Westworld, in a very effective way, honestly I think this would be a 10 for me had not been for Carl's part, the way it ends with Laura and Steve is ever so sweet, and the way Steve uses the classic "Did I Do That?" in a positive way, for something good he actually did was great. 8/10 Peter Shelby ********
Night Court: The Blues of the Birth (1990)
"Do you think she'll be surprised?" "Not as much as you'll be"
This is the final episode of season 7, in this episode Christine goes into labour, but of course, this is Night Court so it had to happen in a unusual situation and in an unusual place! I liked this episode, not one of my favourites since the plot is very clichet by the show's standards, but it is heartwarming when the baby finally gets out, it's hilarious Buddy commenting every stage of the situation, and Tony (who I never really liked) kind of works here, and when Christine says in the end "The man in my life" it actually has a lot of weight because they have been setting her fears of being a lonely mother very deeply, her words for her fellow colleagues were great and Tony recognizing how "they had more to do with that, than he did" was also pleasant. Good , competent if cliche, ending to a average season of Night Court. 7/10 Peter Shelby *******
Night Court: A Closer Look (1990)
"So we *meat* again. Looks like someone hasn't *loined* his lesson. Well, apparently he doesn't realize what's at *steak* here."
In this episode we see the Night Court through the lens of a TV program, when a TV reporter tries to unveil how this particulary court handles things.
This is one very unique episode of "Night Court", and I'm not gonna lie , I loved it!
There isn't any major happening in this episode, it's all very common "Night Court Humor" (Daniel is a pervert, Harry it's always fooling around, Bull is stupid and forgets stuff, Roz doesn't take bull from anybody), like I said, nothing new, but the presentation is so unique, and works so well for this environment, I actually questioned myself if I wouldn't enjoy this show much more if it was always like this, but no, I wouldn't, the facto that it made me question it, it's proof alone of how effective it was. 9/10 ********* Peter Shelby
NewsRadio: President (1996)
"Actually that wasn't entirely unpleasant!"
Season Three kicks off with Mr. James deciding to run for president of United States, while defying Lisa to uncover a secret he may have. A side(hilarious)plot is Matthew growing a fluffy moustache. This was a great way to start off the season, what a great premise (both of them). First of all, Mr James is one of those characters so lunatic that running for president does seem kind of believable for him (it's fun seeing this after Trump became president) and the way he seems to have it all under control is great, the scenes where the crew tries to come up with slogans it's very funny, and the resolution with the reveal of Lisa is great as well. Meanwhile the Matthew story is just fun because normally nobody cares about Matt, he's just there, and people don't usually even notice him but this time they all are constantly noticing and interacting with him in order for him to take the hideous mustache off. The highlight of the episode though, is at the very end when Matthew decides he has to kiss one of the ladies so they can check if kissing a mustache would be gross, and when none of them accept, Bill of all people steps up to the challenge "Do I have to do everything around here?" he remarks. Great episode 9/10 ********* pETER sHELBY
Family Matters: Daddy's Little Girl (1991)
"Daddy, We'll always have the county fair!"
In this episode Steve goes to Hawai while Carl has a new young partner, Mike , who mesmerizes Laura. I didn't really care for this episode, Steve was still the highlight, amazing how he can be in camera for less than 5 minutes and still steal the whole episode. Laura as a fool teenager overwhelmed by a boy it's not a new one, her scene with Carl at the end was sweet and emotional, the music helped (normally don't notice these musical backgrounds). If I said it once, I've said it a million times, Kellie Williams is perfect as Laura, perfect casting, knows how to be emotional and to be fun when it's required, Eddie could take some acting lessons. Ed and Estelle don't exist in this episode (Yes, Eddie has a phone scene) (not even gonna mention the others) , this is common in this show but it always bothers me, not even an explanation for their absense. Steve coming back in the end of the episode was a treat . 5/10 ***** Peter Shelby
Family Matters: Words Hurt (1991)
"Carl Winslow , do you hate me?"
In this episode , rarely, we only have one storyline: Steve is sleepwalking hitting Carl, and the Winslows decide to take the matter to a hypnosis expert, and it is discovered that Steve resents for something Carl said some time before. I liked this episode, the premise is good. I just think the reason was very shallow, it's true that what Carl said was agressive, but how many times has Steve heard this type of comment made to his face, by Carl, Eddie and worse of all, Laura? It just doesn't make sense for it to make such a big deal in Steve's mind, and we all know in the next episodes these type of comments will be there and no one's gonna bat an eye for them, it's a hole in the logic of the story, but the ending was well done . 6/10 ******
