A Sad Joker
1 February 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I gave this Movie a fairly High rating. But I didn't enjoy it all that much. it got the high rating because Joaquin Phoenix's performance was Oscar worthy stellar and we finally found out why one of these super villains was the way they are. I was very satisfied with his backstory. But I couldn't help think this was not the Joker I wanted. I had the issues with the fact that he was so pathetic damaged you could not Envision him actually becoming a supervillain other than the fact people did follow him. He just seemed to challenged to be able to fund & carryout big crimes in the future. I also thought it would have been better had they made you care more for him instead of just feel sad and sick for him. That would have made what we know to be his eventual complete descent into madness and crime understandable and it would have been heartbreaking. I think some flashbacks to his childhood traumas when he was reading the file at the hospital would have bonded us more to this character.. Though they did make you feel a lot of empathy for him, they just could have really sent us on an emotional roller coaster had they tried a little harder. The Joker I would have rather have seen would have been a continuation of Jared Leto's Joker. I like many others would have really liked to have seen inside that version of the Joker. another version I would have preferred would have been someone to have been the young Heath Ledger Joker. one of the Hemsworth brothers or Charlie Hunnam would have been perfect for that. I'm not quite sure why every version of The Joker is so completely different from all the previous versions. It makes for a complete lack of continuity and it makes it seem like it's not the same character. But that was just my opinions. Being what it was the movie was obviously exactly what the creators meant to be. it was hard to watch because of how pathetic and sad the Joker's character was, it felt realistically true, visually gritty, ugly, pathetic and Phoenix's acting Was spot-on every second of the way. I do hope there are sequels to this movie. And that in those that they endear him to us a little bit more. Small spoiler alert - though the movie was hard for me to watch I'm glad I did if nothing else to see that the Joker gave Society many chances, tried to do the right things, and was eventually let down by everyone including the one person he thought truly loved him. This sad joker's story was a true tragedy. And ironic tragedy in the Greek sense of a character flaw and not an Alanis Morriset's Murphy's Law way.

Heart crunching

Warning: Spoilers
By the end of this documentary I was having trouble breathing from the stress and ever unfolding horror of this guy's past. It is so gut wrenching it that I almost felt I had experienced what the twins had gone through. What would you do if you had the chance to rewrite the person who you love the most's memory if there history was a nightmare. How long would you keep it up carrying the burden of the nightmare on yourself? What would you do if you found out the normal happy life you were told you had was not only a lie but the opposite of the truth? The thing that made this bearable was that they end up having happy adult lives and families that love them and they love in healthy lovely ways. This is actually the most interesting and engaging documentary I have ever seen. It is can't look away from truth. The bravery of the one brother carrying the horrible truth is stunning and his bravery and strength touched me deeply. I hope this documentary brings the twins closure and helps them heal. I hope their parents rot in hell. Sorry but they do deserve it.

WOW
19 October 2019
WOW. Normally I watch each Marvel or Superhero TV show at least once. I am always disappoint. They are boring, bland, predictable action, ridiculous dialog and the actors look as if they are simply reading the script on a stage void of emotion. But I keep hoping.... This is not only the best of Marvel/Superhero TV shows it is one of the best TV shows I have watched. It is can't look away drama and action. The characters are realistic and likable even though flawed. The cast is perfect. I love all the moving parts the way real life is story over story overlay-ed. Jessica is one of the best written realistic characters I can think of on TV now and possibly ever. Which is funny because she is a superhero hard-assed private detective which is not someone the majority of us have ever encountered. Though constant action and emotion it never seems unrealistically overwrought. Jessica often says and does the things we wish we were brave enough to say and then get away with. This is my new binge watch.

More drama than horror
21 September 2019
If you are wanting a gore-fest horrifying thriller this is not your movie. This is more of a drama. I think that is why it got so many bad reviews. People were hoping for Saw like gore but it is a more of a human character study that is sometimes touching.

After reading this movie's description on my cable guide I tuned in just out of curiosity and watched the end of the movie expecting to see some cheap gore-fest. . I was very pleasantly surprised to find it to be very interesting and exceedingly well acted. It isn't often someone comes up with a unique story that no one had thought of yet nowadays. The description of this movie does not do it justice. It is a story of a father's love for his child set in a backdrop of horror. Aidan Devine plays the father with true strength and heart with truly authentic emotion. The breakout performance though was Ava Preston. She was amazing. At times I was disturbed that such a young girl was sent through such extreme emotion. She is going to be someone to be watched. I loved her performance and hope this movie has a sequel. It is very rare I immediately watch a movie a second time but this movie was great and I liked it more the second time I saw it. .

No One Saw a Thing (2019–2021)

Great but....

Warning: Spoilers
I watched he episode Cycle of Violence of the show. And I do plan on watching other episodes. But what mystifies me about the show is blaming all the crime that happens in town on one justifiable murder 20 years before. It is obvious at the beginning of the episode that I was watching that there was a serious drug problem and an economy devastated by the decline in farming in this town that is probably responsible for all of the bizarre violence that they are having.

If you review the case of Ken McElroy you will see a Monster who the residents of a small town were forced to take action against to protect their own people because the court system had not been able to protect them from McElroy. He had already been accused of assault, child molestation, vicious harassment of the child that was molested's Foster family statutory rape, arson, attempted murder 2 *, hog and cattle rustling, harassment and burglary. This description makes light of what he did it was much more horrible in reality . In 1981 he was convicted of shooting and seriously injuring a 70 year old man. He appealed his case and was set free. Once he was set free he went on a campaign of harassing the citizens who supported the elderly man he had tried to murder. He made a habit of terrorizing anybody that came up against him or reported his crimes to the police. What caused his murder was he walked into a bar with a gun And a bayonet and threatened to kill the elderly man. He was serious about it and he was killed the next day in front of a crowd of people. All of whom have stayed quiet as about what they saw as everyone who witnessed it with the exception of his family who were complicit in many of his crimes , felt the shooting was justified. Personally I thought it was too. As most people that I know understood why people were driven to the point of murdering him. This was a sad time in this town's history.

But to somehow blame these people involved, especially the witnesses who were not protected by the law from McElroy are the cause of every crime that happened afterwards it's absolutely ridiculous. Especially for a town that has a drug problem and the farming industry that declined leaving the economy devastated. But over and over again the show tries to link the execution of McElroy to everything bad that has happened to the town it is really ridiculous. It seems to imply the people involved in McElroy's death are somehow evil and have a legacy of evil that have destroyed the morality of the town and turned it murderous. The reality of it is a lot of us would believe those people are Heroes. I actually feel they do this to the point of slander.

But other than that, LOL, the show was actually fascinating. It is very sad to see this little tiny farming town succumb to crime and poverty. also the crimes that are being committed or actually interesting in a horrific way. You really feel for the people of this town that has experienced so much tragedy. The crime stories are well told with exception of the continuing to insert McElroy where he doesn't belong. In some ways better than any other show on TV. But they kind of ruin it but constantly drawing a conclusion that has nothing to do with these crimes. The interviews with the town's people regarding the current crimes are very engaging as the people are salt of the earth and people you can't help but like and empathize with. I think the townspeople are why I liked the show and will watch it again.

Loveable Cast
14 April 2019
This is not an exciting terrifying horror movie was lots of Gore and tricky things. No huge Stars. But what it is is a very atmospheric movie that is actually quite realistic. The thing that elevates it I believe is the cast. Not only is it well acted even the spikier brother is lovable. There is something about these kids and others in the movie that makes you truly feel their losses and makes you get behind them completely. I felt very invested in their story. I loved the kids were the intelligent Heroes of the story and work together. I personally thought this is a really good movie. I will be looking forward to seeing each one of these actors in their other projects.

Good but hard to watch
26 January 2019
Warning: Spoilers
This movie was kind of brutal to watch. It's like watching a bunch of small train wrecks you know we're going to end up with a huge cataclysmic train wreck at the end. It was Brilliantly acted by every single character and I think this may very well be the best acting I've ever seen Nicolas Cage do. Normally Nicolas Cage is one of those actors that is basically his brand and every movie. Like Gene Hackman and Bruce Willis they are basically the same character in every movie. But in this movie you really see Nicolas Cage the actor. Not overdrawn or a character sure of himself but an amazingly realistic character. The cinematography was amazing. There was a continual sad pathetic grimy poorness that was the backdrop for everything. It was a really impressive piece of cinematography and I'm surprised it didn't get more attention at the time it came out. I took one star off for the sad painfulness of it because I tend to like my movies a little happier. LOL

Yucks rhymes wth... .

I'm not going to say this is the worst movie I've ever seen. But I will say this is the worst movie I've seen with such a good cast and production cost. It was actually painful to watch. I finally started fast-forwarding even though I was afraid I was going to miss whatever point the movie was trying to make but I just could not stand it. I didn't find it disturbing as much as I found it ugly. The end was slightly interesting but definitely not worth watching the entire movie. And to be quite honest I just thought the movie was flat-out stupid. It makes me wonder if there was a book that was worth reading behind it. I just don't get the high reviews for this movie. It was really bad. If you decide to start watching this movie anyway if at the point you meet Michelle Pfeiffer's kids you are really not liking this movie it's just going to get worse so much worse. If you're lacking the movie thus far you might like the rest of it. Instead of watching it ask somebody if they've seen it and ask how it ends. Save yourself the misery.
