Scrooge: A Christmas Carol (2022)
Fantastic Festive Fun
Absolutely loved this, a proper movie for the festive season. As a movie, excellent, as a musical even better. Top notch songs, exquisite animation and overall a great retelling of a proper Christmas classic.
Dont be a Scrooge givecthis a go a d allow yourself to be caught up in a tale you know inside out yet given the little touches of originality make it so much more enjoyable than ot has any right to be.
After subjecting myself (and my wife) to some so so Christmas movies this year, looking at you Christmas with the Kranks, it was with a little trepidation we settled down to yet a other retelling however succumgb to the pleasure, you wont be disappointed.
Forced to Kill (1994)
Joyous fun if you like this sort of thing!
While not as polished as a Van Damme movie from this era Forced To Kill is most definitely worth a watch.
Great opening in the bar setting up the sheriff character played by the ever reliable Michael Ironside, good guy, bad guy, not sure at this point but hey it is Ironside so go with your gut on this one. We then get to meet our hero and it isn't long before he is punching and kicking his way into the movie.
Not going to give a beat by beat account suffice to say our hero is put through the mill throughout physically and emotionally before turning on his captors.
Plot lines aside the story moves along at a decent pace, the fight scenes are decent and apart from a few flat performances it still holds the attention.
Like an 80s film that got made too late this is a throwback to my youthful viewings on VHS and one I am glad I caught for the nostalgia vibe.
Tomb Raider (2018)
Tomb Raider? Keep It Buried
What on earth was that! Storyline and dialogue was boring, derivative drivel which carried on way too long, beyond the point of caring what happens next to anyone. Avoid if you had visions of a decent adventure movie in the vein of Indy, dig out the earlier films, at least they attempted to be fun.
