Just not good
14 December 2023
Warning: Spoilers
I loved Designing Women so I wanted to like this too but I just didn't. The characters are not likable and Suzanne doesn't seem like Suzanne. Maybe because she doesn't have the others from DW to play off of. Delta and Dixie Carter had something special as sisters who couldn't be more different but lived each other fiercely. Plus Annie Potts and Jean Smart meshed so well with them. I love Patricia Heaton and Teri Garr but this just doesn't work. The. There's the inconsistencies with Suzanne's past. Her maid Sapphire has been her Mami dice she was a teenager? Whet happened to crazy Consuela? She has a completely different brother than in DW? This is especially weird considering Linda and Harry Thomason created both shows.

Annoying

Warning: Spoilers
Putting aside the gross places they clean these people are annoying. If I hear Missy call Josh "The Poo Man" one more time I'm gonna scream. I mean gotta them credit for even doing this but they get on my nerves.

Interesting but inaccuracies on Pope Lick Monster
3 April 2022
I live in Jefferson County KY where the goat man is rumored to be. Jefferson Co. Is not Western KY or the Ozarks. It's central KY. I grew up in actual Western KY in Murray. 240 miles west of Jefferson Co/Louisville. I've heard about the monster but never been out there.

Warning: Spoilers
I'm no fan of Hillsong and someone of this was doc was very good. Especially the first part when talking about worship music. But one thing I don't get. These people who complained about the college. You continued to stay there. Was a gun to your head that you couldn't leave? I'm not defending them but no one was forcing you to stay there.

Warning: Spoilers
A big goof no one mentioned. In the scene where they are looking at photos of Miles setting Valerie on fire the guy doesn't even look like Blair Underwood. He's bald and Underwood has a full head of hair. There was no mention of him having someone else do it. Whether they realize it or not viewers do notice these things.

Much needed episode
2 June 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I've been very critical of SVU lately but kudos to them for this episode. Men can be abused. The fact that Olivia was the biggest advocate of a male victim was refreshing to see. Only downside was Kat was annoying. But that's nothing new. Michael Gladis and Anna Wood were great as the couple the SVU detectives try to decipher the truth from. I'm also seeing a lot of growth from Carisi. Gone is the goofy detective who got on your nerves. He's coming into his own as an ADA and I hope we see more courtroom scenes.

This con artist just happens to carry around a cattle prod thing and huge machine to make guys "get it up" while knocked out a a rufi? Other than that being ridiculous the episode is very good. Although her father runs a sperm bank so anything is possible.

BORING
23 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Bad writing, unsympathetic characters. I really could've cared less about Vanessa and her restaurant. This was just an excuse for Benson to be in the spotlight. It wasn't even an SVU case per se. And the Rollisi stuff was tired. I don't even care whether they get together or not anymore. And I'm tired of her dysfunctional family. I can't believe this show still has two more seasons. It's clear it should just go away.

Above average episode
9 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
I agree with other reviewers that this is an episode that could facilitate discussion with your teenagers about sex, mental illness etc. Someone said most people don't listen to celebrities about how to live their lives. True but teenagers brains are not fully developed and the part that controls impulses and reasoning especially so it's not that big a leap. Especially when she felt ostracized for taking medication for BPD. I imagine her idol held more sway than her doctor. Snow did a good job in her portrayal. None of that should absolve her though. We also learn a little about Novak at the end.

Doesn't live up to the hype
2 April 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Aside from seeing Meloni again this show is mediocre at best. The cast is nothing special. McDermott is lousy as the supposed super villain. No chemistry among the cast. What little we saw of Mariska Hargitay wasn't all that good and she won't be on the show much I'm guessing. I think back to the original SVU cast and then adding Ice T. That was chemistry. Not just Benson and Stabler but the whole ensemble worked. The story here wasn't compelling either aside from Kathy Stabler's unnecessary demise.

Inconsistencies
30 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
Baby is found in the trash. Detectives track it to a college student who apparently has a bad habit of killing/trying to kill her babies that are a product of incest with her father. She tells Benson she never knew who he was and her mother hated him and her for being his. Of course this plays on the tired refrain poor Benson was a product of rape and never knew her father. However, when Munch and Fin talked to the girl's father and stepmother it's stated he and the girl's mother divorced when Ella was 8.

Warning: Spoilers
This kid wasn't that convincing as a psychopath and the parents were annoying. Being emotionless and staring blankly isn't enough.

I'm reminded of episodes in season 4 like Juvenile, Damaged and Soulless. Those were some chilling episodes. Especially Missy in Damaged.

"You can't kill me. I'm already dead."

Doesn't make sense
20 March 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The whole thing of Ellis using Benson's relationship with David Hayden is ridiculous. They didn't even know each other when Pena was put away. But he would use a trumped up conspiracy theory to get him out? Yes he deserved to get out and it was good to see self righteous Benson taken down a peg. I guess it's tiresome to see them ruin every relationship Benson has. Hayden, Cassidy, Tucker. They even killed her brother last season.

Guilty Until Proven Innocent
5 January 2021
Warning: Spoilers
The SVU way. A drugged up white girl accuses a black guy of raping her. There's DNA but does SVU wait until the results are back? Nope. In the meantime the father of said girl threatens the guy into confessing with a nail gun and the guy dies. Then our intrepid detectives find security footage that basically clears the guy. The girl is confronted but as always she's not responsible for making false accusations because it was because she didn't remember it was her uncle.

Rehash of an old episode
20 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
The writers either have amnesia or have just run out of original ideas. But this is practically the same episode as Pop from season 12. Abusive boyfriend/ husband is killed and no one is sure if it's the mother or the son. At least this one had a resolution at the end instead of well we can't prosecute either of you so you can tell us but the still clam up.

Different but good
18 November 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This is different than most night time soap episodes. The interesting thing about it is a haunted house with spirits beckoning Val to stay with them. Julie Harris (Lilimae) starred in The Haunting, one of my favorite movies, in 1963 about a haunted house who's spirits pulled her in. This episode is less sinister than that movie but a similar premise.

7 October 2020
Warning: Spoilers
If you've watched season 10 Liberties you'll get the gist of this episode. In that episode a stalker sets up the woman who rejected him to get raped. In this episode an obsessed fan set up her crush to rape a social media influencer he had been chatting with online.

Warning: Spoilers
Carey Elwes is a terrible actor. He seems to care little that his wife is dead and he would rather his daughter be blamed for her mother's death than let them do a sodium amatol interview to find out the truth? Which I thought was pseudo science since in season 3 they arrested a therapist for using it. Huang railed against it. But wants to do one here. Anyway, the boyfriend dies when Elliot arrests him and IAB goes after him. But Warner saves the day. Emily Van Camp is good as the daughter with zero empathy toward her mother. Shades of her character on Revenge.

Good episode however
4 September 2020
Warning: Spoilers
When Benson and Stabler go to George Burton's house and Irina(who was pretending to be Ava) comes to the door they look so shocked. Like nobody could be a twin. Elliot HAS twins, yes fraternal but come on. This isn't the only episode this happens. Wildlife is another when they see the sister of a dead girl and looked totally dumbfounded and Fin says "dead girl walking" then when she says what happened to my sister they look like they've never heard of twins or siblings who look almost identical. It's a stupid ploy for a dramatic cut to a commercial I guess.

Anyway, the episode is pretty good. But the twist of the sister taking the other's place is obvious even before it's revealed. Been done a hundred times in movies and tv. Milli Avital gives a good performance. They must have liked her in the pilot to have her come back three more times.

Okay but...
16 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I'm not so bothered by the focus on Noah but what I don't get is this kid's mom is a cop and she never taught him about stranger danger? He just goes willingly with this guy? Even if he'd said I'm a friend of your mommy Noah should've been taught a secret word at the most and asked the guy. I mean he just walks out of the store with him without a struggle. Plus he was standing there trying on coats with grandma and what? Just goes off with this guy as she turns back? That's illogical. The least they could've done was make a plausible scenario. And where was he the whole time Sheila was pretending to look for him? All of a sudden he's with her. He obviously wasn't at her apartment. Just too many things didn't add up.

More all men are rapists crap
15 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode wasn't so bad until the end. The creepy old man gets what he deserves. But they can't leave it at that. They have to push their all men are rapists crap at the end:

Rollins: do you think Eric's generation is any better than his grandfather's or just different?

Phone rings and Carisi answers

Benson: I don't it's any better or worse just younger

Then Carisi announces there's a rape

So all old men are creeps and so are young men. I'm so sick of this show's political crap.

Good but why does SVU start out with one thing then go another way
12 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
This episode started out about underage prostitution when a friend of Amaro's wife comes to SVU because his daughter called upset. Turns out she cane to New York and got hooked up with a pimp. To catch the guy they set up a sting and a former football player is arrested. It turns out he's had one too many blows to the head. They take him to court anyway because self righteous Alex Cabot has to. Then when it blows up in her face she blames Olivia who did push to go after the Johns. But how could Alex not see it? She tried to railroad the guy just like she tried to railroad a mentally challenged kid in season 10. You want justice for her and compassion for him she said to Benson. You can't have it both ways. Well yeah you can. He was not guilty. Diminished capacity. Prosecute the guilty ones. She acted like she had to because football players aren't special. Well neither are you, Alex. The guy shoots himself after being acquitted when he realized what he did. Treat Williams was great as was the actress who played his wife.

Suffer the little children
9 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
If the idiot liberals who write and act in these shows understood the Bible they would know that it never says children should suffer in order to come to God. Suffer means allow or let in Early Modern English which is what the King James is. Just another excuse to bash God for Peter to say that. But this episode isn't nearly as bad as part 2. Toxic masculinity garbage just vomiting out of everyone's mouth.

Meh
8 August 2020
Warning: Spoilers
I've actually watched this episode several times. The whole shooting doesn't make sense. From the officer firing he egg n age actually tripped and hit hit witb her own gun to Amaro just firing willy nilly without even looking around the corner. I don't know much about how IAB works in real life but it isn't that much of a stretch for cops to be defensive about them. Another thing that seems strange is that Cragen announces his retirement and that Liv is in charge right before he walks out the door? No transition time? I know she's already there but she's got to walk in the very next day and be in charge? Plus at this time she's hardly mentally ready no matter what Cragen said. Just after the Lewis trial. She's still dealing with a lot in therapy. She's so stressed in Jersey Breakdown she can't even help Cassidy decide on dinner. She even alludes to the stress to Dr. Lindstrom in a later episode.
