To Find My Son (1980)
What an amazing movie
This movie is based on the true story of a single man wanting to adopt a boy who has various disabilities.
Richard Thomas does a great job of playing a sincere man who is a volunteer and grows to love a boy whom nobody wants to adopt and fights the evil bureaucrats to finally gets his wish and becomes his father.
He has to deal with a girlfriend who is not happy about the fact that he spends more time with the boy then with her.
Also, he has parents that are not very supportive about his decision to adopt as a single man.
I'm sick of men always played in Hollywood as a bunch of S.O.B's...this movie should make not only single fathers feel good, but any body who has a good heart in helping people!
I give this movie a perfect 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dead & Deader (2006)
GUY TORRY RULES in this slightly unique Zombie Flick
For a low budget "B" made for T.V. movie, it was the best zombie movie this year!
What made this one slightly different than the others 1#)is that an ancient Cambodian scorpion infects humans thus turning them into flesh eating zombies. 2#) dean Cain's character was infected but he cuts out the Bug in time so the virus does not reach his heart,in-turn gives him extra abilities, but he is not a full blown zombie! Susan ward(Malibu Shores & Shallow Hal) was surprisingly good in this movie as a tough bartender caught in the middle of this zombie mess resulting in her teaming up with dean and guy.
But what makes this movie a 100x better than the others is Guy Torry! He is so talented whether he is in a Drama, Comedy, Sci-Fi, or his stand up (which you can catch on this seasons def comedy jam) he always gives you a laugh that will stick with you for a lifetime!!! I was expecting this movie to suck but I was wrong...10 out of 10!!!!!
Enter the Blood Ring (1995)
Based loosely on true events
Based on American underground no-rules fighting tournaments held over a decade ago. This typical action movie has the cheezy mob boss after the "good guy" plot, but for a B-movie it does have some of the most respected martial artists and champions in the world! If you are a fan of B-movie American martial art flicks...you might like this movie.
It has;KickBoxers,Boxers,Jiu Jitsu fighters,Karate and Kung Fu practitioners competing against one another!
I give it a 5 out of 10 for a low budget film!
p.s. look for former world welter weight muay thai kickboxing champion,Dave "Snake" Blocker as one of the competitors!!!!! blockeracademy.com
Sledge Hammer! (1986)
THIS SHOW RULED the 80's comedy genre!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I grew up watching the slapstick comedy legends such as Chaplin,Lucy,Lewis,Three stooges,Marx Bros. etc...Sledge Hammer truly captured the slapstick of the past but with an EDGE(Dirty Harry meets Jerry Lewis)! This show was perfectly casted with brilliantly-stupid cop stories that no other show in T.V. history can even come close to!
I hope the creator will finally release the Slege Hammer movie that's been rumored about. Apparently He does not want the movie to be made without David Rashe reprising his role as sledge, but various movie companies want a young actor to play sledge with a young/new cast!
10 out of 10! "You, Yogart Sucking Mutant!" & "You, Egg Sucking Leech!"(pun intended!) THANK GOD BOTH SEASONS ARE ON DVD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Even Stevens (2000)
The Best Show on Disney...EVER ! p.s. I hate ALL of the other lame Disney shows!!!!!!!!!!!
I was in the hospital for back surgery (martial arts injury)when this show debut in August 2000.I was depressed, could not walk, & was subject to lying in bed. So all I could do was Read or watch T.V. & to my surprise I started to watch The comedy channel,TCM, Nick & Disney to get my mind off the severity my my ordeal! At first I only watched a few episodes of even stevens & thought it was OK for a grade schooler, then I recovered & stopped watching it. In 2002 I had to stop teaching/coaching my fighters & I ended up closing my business due to continued back problems. Once again I was depressed & out of work...so I watched Disney again & saw a commercial for even stevens(the one that looked like Indiana Jones) & noticed the cast looked older & it seemed funnier...Man was it funnier, in fact the show was emmy nominated & shia won an emmy for his performance! This is a very talented cast!Sure it took a little while for the show to get better(shia got less annoying & became brilliant). Disney needs to get their head out of their ____ & play more even stevens to show the new generation what a real teen comedy should look like 'cause it seems that a lot of the new young viewers never even heard of it! Nick's "Drake & Josh" is the only new show that has a similar slapstick sense of humor but, it is still not as unique! EVEN STEVENS= 10 out of 10!!!!!!!!!!!!!! & that's coming from an Adult!
Up in Smoke (1978)
This Movie still makes me laugh...almost 3 decades later!
This was the 1st rated R movie I got to see without an adult present back in the 1970's. The funny thing was this was my first exposure to the whole "Drug Culture" (late bloomer).
And it was my first exposure to the Rock Scene that was happening in California at that time (I was living in Chicago). I am in my late 30's, and I am forever cursed/blessed with their brand of slapstick humor!!! I am a "Rocker/Musician" and wish to be as crazy as these guys(minus the Drugs) however, I would like to keep my brain cells still intact!
CHEECH & CHONG are a part of American cinema history. And I am glad to be a part of their legion of devoted fans. I may not party anymore but, I have not lost that amazing sense of humor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
