Great lineup - then it all changed

11 years after this series wrapped I decided I wanted to finally watch it! Better late than never they say.

After the initial first two episodes I was hooked! The exploits of Alisha, Kelly, Curtis, Simon and the ever annoying Nathan were compelling, mixed with light relief from awkward character interactions!

Then series 4 came round. Overnight we had lost all but one of the original lineup, with some poor excuses as to why characters had disappeared!

Series 5 was an utter waste of time. Disjointed storylines, pointless characters with the most ridiculous powers! If you watch series 1-3, don't bother with 4 or 5! Even Joseph Gilguns Rudy becomes redundant.

I loved this show, weird concept, but great characters!

Unfortunately confirmed cancelled in February 2017

Shown in U.K., series 2 a bust!

Stumbled across this being shown in the U.K. for what I believe is the first time, started watching because of Bret Harrison and Christian Slater. The first series was funny, the interaction between the whole cast and Dutch was hilarious, when I found out there was a season two, I was thoroughly looking forward to it. Bring on season 2. Gone were full time characters Melanie and Dutch, Melanie pops in a few episodes, and gone was Trevor Moore. Shrinking the original cast damaged the storylines dramatically. Megan Mullally was brought in as the annoying Veronica and the enigmatic Erin Richards was introduced as Molly. Neither character brought anything to the show, I can see why it was cancelled after season 2.

Politically Incorrect Maybe?

I am late to this show, as it was only shown in its entirety in the U.K. once it had finished airing. Having watched, and enjoyed Home Improvements, I thought a twist on the old might be a good idea. Once I got past the change of actors from seasons 1 to 2, the storylines did tend to follow a pattern, with Ryan being the whingeing antagonist, Mandy being the self centred dumb character, Eve playing the boy who never was, and Kirsten portraying the bad girl of the family, there are only so many twists and turns you can have. Good for a laugh, Tim Allen's political views shine through in a large percent of the episodes, which can prove tiresome.
