Animal Kingdom (2016)
Every single heist is dumb. No exceptions. No likable characters.
These idiot characters would not be able to put their heads together to get away with robbing a kids lemonade stand...run by blind kids.
The writers were faaaaar to lazy to make any of the heists remotely believable. But with the type of audience that is dazzled by silly shows like this, i'm quite certain (the writers obviously were) that anything remotely believable was not needed.
Becomes very derivative (of itself), losing any real tension or viable drama long before you stop caring about any of the characters. In fact, who-will-die-next turns into a wish list fairly quickly. Those who don't make that list are characters you do root for either; they are forgettable fools that serve to prop up the idiot Cody family members.
In the end, the show contains a massive group of over-the-top immoral, self-centered egomaniacs. If that - along with absurd heist after heist - is your thing, you'll love this show. If not, this is a solid pass for you.
La noche más larga (2022)
Pretty darn good right up until...
...near the end of episode 2.
There it takes an unfortunate jump into stupid, which all shows can be forgiven once in a while.
Even twice in awhile.
But, as these shows tend to do, it then moves on to laughably silly.
At that point, also as so many shows now do, the writers, creators and directors must have figured, "Hey, anyone watching further can't possibly notice how inane, incoherent and wildly preposterous individual scenes, characters, plot and subplots have become." So they increased all these things, I assume thinking whomever remained watching this was of the sort unable to notice (or be bothered by) any of these shortcomings. And so it went, until it reached an insultingly unbearable point (3/4 through episode 3 for me) that no more could be tolerated.
The Sinner (2017)
Season 3 10+++!!! HUGE THANK YOU!!!!
Please keep up the style of Season 3! Ignore all deeply negative Season 3 critics - !PLEASE! - let them them watch the shallow, utter garbage they continue to inexplicably give ratings of 8s, 9s and 10s. I *NEED* more shows like Season 3!!!
The Sinner: Part VIII (2020)
Oh. My. Heavens!!!! 10+++!!! And a HUGE thank you!!
Thank you writers, directors, cast and crew!!!!!!
Why can't more episodes/shows be like this!?
All the crap out there - I'd pretty much given up until now. The very fact there are so many deeply negative reviews is proof enough - those *have* to be the same viewers giving absolute garbage 8s, 9s and 10s! It makes sense now!! Why wouldn't they have opposite ratings for shows like this!?
Yellowstone (2018)
Oh my heavens is this show TERRIBLE!!!
I gave this a rating of 3 hoping to reach sane people looking at reviews wondering if they should watch this show.
It is a 1 AT MOST, but I figured that if I rated it 1 no one would look at my comments.
This show is so very, very bad.
Do not spend any time on this.
There is nothing here of any quality, which by itself is bad enough. The real problem is that just about everything is of negative entertainment value! The writing, plot, sub-plots, dialog (it is horrible!), characters, actors, pace - everything is junk, junk, junk!!
PLEASE - save yourself!
Yellowstone: The Long Black Train (2018)
Good news for apologists of this garbage of a show...
...20 minutes into this episode finished me off.
I'm done.
One of the worst shows I've ever seen.
Yellowstone: No Good Horses (2018)
Um...just awful.
Garbage.
Save yourself.
It's sad what people consider good.
Unfortunately, the overall ratings are misleading to the point of lying.
Yellowstone: Kill the Messenger (2018)
Episode 1 -really bad. 2 more of the same...
I'd say don't bother...will see what 3 has to offer.
Yellowstone: Daybreak (2018)
Thinking, rational, sensible people gave this episode 7, 8, 9, 10??
How? Why?? What are people viewing that give these ratings? I am not saying everyone has to agree with my 2 (or less), but come on people - this episode was terrible! So many flaws. Poor writing. And then they off one of the two or maybe three characters worth scene time?!? I have never watched a show with this high of ratings start off with 92 minutes filled with so many derivative, uninteresting characters and plot-lines. I will continue to watch it because it cannot be this awful based on what I've heard...can it? Plus, I paid $20 for season 1.
Reprisal (2019)
Immediate, honest feedback after final episode; I feel embarrassed and ashamed for having fell for this show. To deserve this, I must have done something terrible wrong.
Do not start this show! It has an awesome start and subsequent buildup. Really great! And then...the wheels start falling off...then blow up in midair...then turn into back into wheels without reason...then form into one giant wheel that flips instead of rolls, rendering its wonderful crafted constituent parts needless, flawed or unfinished. In other words, I have no allegory that captures the full essence of absurdity this series came to embrace. Individual scenes, intriguing sub-plots, even the overall story arc - the writers clearly came to a point where nothing was immune from quick, wild swings spanning from disappointing to insulting. Worse yet, much anticipated character interactions late in the series that begged for layered, nuanced, and dramatic dialog instead passed by with stilted, silly interactions almost completely divested of emotional significance. Indeed, it seems the writers nothing left to chance here; by the end, they managed to dismantling just about everything good of what had been a very compelling and well written series.

Ignore my above review. Watch this show, but before each episode, smoke a lot of pot so that you can completely suspend belief and (later in the series) basic common sense and just enjoy it without feeling cheated :)
Reprisal: 25 or 6 to 4 (2019)
Why a rating of 1?
Because there is no 0.
Amazingly insulting episode for all but dimwitted, unquestioning and dull viewers.
This from a **fan** of the show whose average episode rating for the first 6 episodes is 7.5!
I fear I should stop watching here. After all, why bother with good writing or semi-plausable scenes for viewers who stick around after this?
Hell on Wheels: Bear Man (2014)
Laughably bad
Layers of cheesy campiness available in this episode. Just need to know where to find it.
Exactly how many flawed, needless, ludicrous and shamelessly derivative sub-plots and arcs we should reasonably expect to endure - it is entertainment after all - has become a bit of a fixation of me at this point, since the show doesn't respect itself or its audience at this point anymore.
Hell on Wheels: Elam Ferguson (2014)
Insultingly poor writing, plot
Wow. Really silly, flawed stuff going on here.
Not sure how reasonable adults with credibility or pride allowed this to move forward. Watching the result had to have been cringe worthy for all but the select few gave life to this junk.
Midsommar (2019)
Never been motivated to craft a review...
...until now. Sort of. Not a review but rather a few ratings and rants, as I feel absolutely embarrassed at having lost roughly 140 minutes of my life (I skipped the credits) to this movie.
First, some ratings (10 being best):
Overall visual appeal 9.
Directing 5.
Use of music/sound 10.
Musical/sound choices 9.
Acting - Florence Pugh 8.
- Remaining cast average 1 (might be a bit generous.)
- post-Sweden -12 (yes, that's a negative sign.)
Secondly, a few rants:
- why, oh why, apply so much campiness/cheesiness to characters long after we got the point?
- it went overboard to the point of absurdity (or, at a bare minimum, it was became increasingly annoying) with long, cringeworthy scenes involving too much of this (odd-ball rituals, for example) and far too much of that (in case you missed the first 5 scenes like this, here's another with music and people standing randomly here or there with toothy, disarming grins.)
- how can a endlessly grinning people who are singing and dancing overly welcoming have such utterly joyless meals?
I want to go on. But I am tired. And I am now mad at myself for bothering to have taken even more time tonight to write these comments about this really overall bad movie.
