Throwback Holiday (2018)
Nice Movie to Watch
I thought this movie was nice. I like that the main character was able to go back in time and save her mom from dying from a heart attack. I think it was relatable because we all have family members who refuse to go to the doctor until its too late.
I thought it was odd that she would be willing to start a whole new life and forget her first two children (who I thought were obnoxious by the way). The first husband/former basket star in high school had to go, I definitely agree with that decision but when I saw the 3 new kids at the end of the movie I was like who are these kids? It would be weird for me to wake up and find that my two kids that I loved and raised were replaced by 3 new kids. Also how is she going to run her medical practice when it seems like she has no knowledge of going to medical school or creating the practice in the first place?
I was a little underwhelmed when the main character went back in time and saw her mom for the first time. Her reaction wasn't as emotional or heartfelt as I expected. It kind of bothers me that movies like these always go back to high school, why not college? Or another period in their lives. In high school teenagers are so immature, and love for them is like puppy love, not real adult love and honestly unless something major happened in high school like having a baby (like in this movie) it doesn't dictate what type of life you're going to have.
Overall it was good movie, I think the actors played convincing roles.
The Holiday Calendar (2018)
Cute Christmas Movie!
I really liked this movie. I thought it was funny, and romantic. I was afraid the lead (Kat Graham) would wind up with Ethan Peck but I'm glad she realized he just looked good on paper and was creating a facade. Her other love interest Quincy Brown was such a sweetheart and handsome! Buying her boots, sleeping over to see what the Advent calendar was going to give her next, helping her at her job etc. I thought it was unrealistic that he brought her the studio. I was expecting that, but it was still over the top. Kat Graham's apartment was huge for a "struggling" artist. Even the other actors commented on how nice her apartment was. Overall I felt like the movie was relatable, her anger towards Quincy when he deleted the Christmas Lighting photos seemed real. I liked that there was sometime in between Quincy and Kat's argument and they didn't just try to rap up the story line very quickly. I was surprised she got fired from her job but it seemed like it's what she needed to move forward. The acting was a little cheesy at times and it bothered me that these movies always have a friend with an foriegn accent that's suppose to provide comic relief. But all in all it was a great movie!!! I highly recommend it.
