Not Going Out: Painting (2022)
Still the odd laugh, but Lee is becoming a pain to watch.
I always enjoyed this show, and still do to a lesser extent.
This show always had a huge nod to American sitcoms with the scene breaks of the London skyline, and Lee wearing his checked short sleeved shirt over his long sleeved T-shirt........very Everyone Loves Raymond !!
I'm very surprised that there wasn't an announcement that this show was filmed in front of a live studio audience !!
The sexual tension between Lucy and Lee always worked well, but now that they are married, most of the time they just slag each other off and it gets quite savage at times. The best episodes are well in the past. The worst thing to happen to this programme is when they had children....the best episodes now are ironically the ones without the kids. The stand out ones where they are married are the parachute jump and escape room. Both excellent episodes, with a great script and all the cast bouncing off each other. The one where they share a holiday cottage is also very good.
I have noticed that Lee is becoming increasingly annoying. The episode where he was trying to remember the actors name was just frustrating to watch. I wanted Lucy to smack him. What an annoying stupid episode.
Also the one where he takes back that water play fort and decides to take back the one which was fully built up, rather than the other one still packaged in its original box....really ??
His overall crazy behaviour and endless lying would be too much for any partner to tolerate.
Why does Lucy have to be the one to stay in and be the housewife, even though she had the high flying career and he was a part time ice cream seller.
Just a final piece of asinine scriptwriting . Remember the awful Christmas episode where they were shopping for the inflatable Santa. The part where they were jumping from the ferry......what the heck ????
They would be jumping from a crazy height into freezing cold water.... I don't believe what I am watching.
The Proof Is Out There (2021)
Better than the majority of mystery solving programmes
I agree with a lot of reviews here about the programme being more serious about its investigations than most. The team do their best to come to a realistic conclusion after the analysis. Some shows cater to the supernatural explanation rather than looking at all angles. Most verdicts have been pretty much what I suspected, and the biologist who basically debunked the Patterson Gimlin film is a hero in my eyes. She stated the same common sense piece to camera as I had suspected all along. Basically, as a wild animal it should have either confronted the pair or retreated quickly......fight or flight. What did it do.......a casual look over its shoulder and then a slow stroll into the bushes. Totally the wrong actions, and clear evidence of the farce in a hairy suit !!
Sleuth (1972)
Fantastic film with fundamental flaw !!!
It's a difficult review to do........
I absolutely love this film. It panders to my love of all murder mysteries and who-dunnits.
The problem I have with this movie is that it has a flaw, and it is pivotal to the whole film. When Milo comes back as Doppler, it is obvious within seconds of him entering the house that he is Milo. We all know it as viewers and it is very naïve to assume that Andrew as an experienced games player and prankster would not see through his disguise within seconds. Even if his disguise was even better, the voice is a dead give away.
Many people have said that another actor should have played Doppler and then the big reveal would have been such a surprise. The problem I have is that Milo had to have a disguise that could realistically be done by one of his make up artist friends. I have to be fair to the writer and director here and just be prepared to let this flaw be overlooked. It's a no win situation for the viewer.
In all other respects, it's a great piece of entertainment that has two fine actors fighting for top billing.
Bigfoot (1967)
Why do some people not believe a logical explanation
For goodness sake.
This film has once and for all been proved to be fake. It's not even up for debate. Why do some people insist on clinging onto false hope. The guy who was actually in the suit ( Bob), showed exactly how he managed the movement of the creature. It was an exact match....a movement many so called experts said was impossible. Well you are wrong. How do you feel being shown up.
He was filmed taking a polygraph.....yes I know not fool proof....but passed with flying colours nonetheless !
Ask yourself, how did Patterson and Gimlin, who were setting out to film bigfoot manage to capture such relatively clear footage in such a short time. Footage which hasn't been seen before or since......too good to be true.....yes of course.
Consider the fact that the creature looked over their shoulder, casually, and then proceeded to amble casually away. The sight of humans with guns would surely result in a much more startled response. It didn't attempt to run or take evasive action....very suspicious for a reportedly intelligent animal.
The clincher for me is why on earth didn't they follow it and continued filming. It wasn't exactly hard to catch up with ?
Answer.....they didn't want to get too close, because it would show up their hairy suited man !
Come on you believers. Give your head a shake and start to wake up to reality.
Heartburn Hotel (1998)
a very underrated comedy......rarely shown on tv
This had some great characters in it, excellent actors and John Sullivan as a co-writer. It had some great moments of comedy and was / is a very under valued comedy series. To my knowledge, there has only been two series made, and is very rarely shown on tv, even on uk gold. To be honest, I cannot remember when it was last on. Please get it back on our screens very soon.
