Pose: Something Old, Something New (2021)
So touching
This show makes me cry like no other! Season 3 has just been great- I'm so sad that Pose is ending, but it is really going out with a bang!
The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020)
A disappointment
Bly Manor was an extreme disappointment after the masterpiece that was Hill House. I felt upset that I had wasted an entire weekend watching it. I didn't go into it expecting it to be as good as Hill House, but, especially after 2 years of waiting, I was still very disappointed at how slow and repetitive Bly Manor was.
After being on the fence all season, I hoped that the last couple of episodes would offer a satisfying conclusion, or at least tie up all the convoluted threads of the previous episodes, but instead got an entire penultimate episode of one-dimensional new characters that I didn't know or even care about. My interest completely tanked during episode 8. And then there was the Hallmark cheese fest that was the last episode. It didn't fit the mood of the rest of the show at all, and I found myself cringing so much at all of the heavy handed exposition and ridiculous wedding sequence- compared to the rest of the season, it really felt like a slap in the face; an insult to the viewers' intelligence.
I did love the acting and most of the characters (Owen, Hannah and Jamie, especially), and the cinematography and atmosphere were excellent, up until those last two episodes. Unfortunately those things couldn't quite make up for the poorly executed storylines and extremely sluggish pacing, at least to me. If they do end up making a third season, I for one won't be watching it.
Charlie's Angels (2019)
Fun way to spend 2 hours
I was very pleasantly surprised at how fun this movie is (especially after reading so many negative reviews)! Sure the dialogue can be cringey at times, and the whole story is over-the-top, but that's just how most spy movies are. The acting is great, the locations are gorgeous (as are the actresses!!), and it's surprisingly funny too- I found myself laughing out loud several times.
TL;DR, it's a super enjoyable, light-hearted and fun movie- don't be turned off by all the bad press/reviews.
