The Mandalorian: Chapter 16: The Rescue (2020)
Wow. Thank you Star Wars.
This is why I love The Mandalorian. I'm sick of people that apparently go to every show looking for another "Breaking Bad" everytime. I like this show because it makes me feel like a kid again and I get to watch new SW every week. This episode had a slow beginning but QUICKLY picked up. SPOILER FROM HERE SPOILER SPOILER SPOILER Once the X-Wing shows up, I just thought "Could it be?" I kept denying it until the actual reveal and it was one of the best Star Wars experiences I have ever had. Luke F*cking Skywalker. This made up for any problem in the episode and I loved the feeling it gave me. I'm just happy, THANK YOU STAR WARS
Fargo: East/West (2020)
Style AND Substance
The Black & White was such a cool choice for this episode. This episode really hammered how much of a figure Rabbi is to Satchel. The sequence at the gas station was trippy, but really cool. I loved the absence of dialogue with the raise of the music/score. I'm hoping that the clear Wizard of Oz reference (Tornado, Kansas, switching from B&W to color) is a hint that Rabbi will survive the tornado like Dorothy. Unfortunately, things aren't looking look for Milligan, and I think that's why Satchel will don the last name and become Mike Milligan... (As seen in Season 2). If you're complaining about Black & White and character development, sorry!
P.S. - The bandaged man is Rabbi's father!! He apparently survived the first episode.. (I confirmed in the credits)
The Mandalorian: Chapter 9: The Marshal (2020)
Great start to build on!!
Mando is back!! Great episode to kick off the season with an epic monster. Timothy Olyphant is a good fit for the Star Wars universe as well. I wish they at least touched on Moff Gideon, but I understand it's just the first episode. Also, it looks like The Marshal isn't the Mandalorian that Mando's contact was referring to!!! MR. FETT IS BACK!!!
Fargo: Camp Elegance (2020)
A-Tier Fargo is alive and well.
Please ignore the people complaining about this show having an "agenda." The show takes place in 1950 and you are surprised it depicts racism? GTFO. This is my first review for this season, and I'll admit, it didn't start with the same caliber as earlier seasons. But, this is a completely different setting, how could that be a bad thing? I think my only "complaint" would be some of the casting could have been better. I'm ranting, back to this episode.
The snow is building up, which means so is the intensity. Jessie Buckley is currently the standout performance as nurse Oraetta and I'm always excited to see more of her. Plus, what's Fargo without the trademark accent? The mafia storyline is also starting to cook up big time. The double crosses are in full flow and nobody knows who to trust. It totally has that Miller's Crossing feeling, especially with the clear nod last episode.. "What's the Rumpus?"
The two breakouts are growing on me, and the scene where they get Gaetano (fake Jon Polito) was pretty darn good. The sequence with Satchel was also FANTASTIC! It also couldn't be more obvious that he is Mike Milligan from season 2, but I still can't wait for them to confirm it. Speaking of season 2, Joe Bulo* is back! Although technically it's the first time we see him chronologically. With Kellerman* also appearing a couple episodes ago, (same actor from season 2, I might add) the connections are stronger than any other 2 seasons. I'm starting to fall in love with this season, especially with the countless Coen brothers references.. too many to list! If you think this season is bad, I feel bad for you!
*Joe Bulo is Mike Milligan's boss from season 2, different actor. "Joe Bulo says hi..."
*Kellerman was the guy from Season 2 that young Dodd killed in the flashback. (Same actor as well.)
