Ghana: The Door Of No Return
Titled and Inspired by the book Journey Of The Songhai People by Robinson, Battle and Robinson, GHANA- THE DOOR OF NO RETURN FOLLOWS a lost tribe of 200 Americans of African descent who travel through time, space, history to the motherland and reconnect with the spirits of Ancestors whose epic journey from there to here, then to now, is the central theme, the central thread of the American Experience.
The documentary features the life-changing and emotional tour of the Gold Coasts Stone of Tears trail on Ghana's western coast. Included in this documentary is an unforgettable tour of the slave castles where 60 people were squeezed into a dark room for 30 minutes, retracing the plight of their forefathers who were herded into the same dungeon hundreds of years ago. In this stifling hot, darkened room, with just enough air to breath, the group endured the caged anxiety of captive Africans who were robbed of their freedom and, in dehumanizing agony, prepared to become the property of slave owners in a distant continent. It exposes the raw emotions experienced by this group as they are exposed to the same gut-wrenching nightmare that their ancestors endured from this inhumane degradation. No one emerged from that room unchanged. It was a transformational experience for all.
The program is full of emotion, spiritual renewal, transformation that will bring viewers to tears and change not only how they view their own lives, but the lives of their fellow Americans of African descent. The program is an artful weave of information and entertainment, with interest for all ages, all people.
