The Little White Lies magazine review was absolutely correct: "Bold, beautiful and unrelentingly bleak." And that's why I love love love love LOVE this film. I love it to the point where I'm ready to declare it the best film of 2016 without even seeing anything else at this point.

3. The VVitch: A New-England Folktale (2015)

A slow-burning fuse on a dread-soaked, enrapturing powder keg. Beautiful, horrifying and so hauntingly real that, if I may borrow from a critic, "It feels like something we shouldn't be seeing."

4. The Hateful Eight (2015)

R | 168 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery

68 Metascore

In the dead of a Wyoming winter, a bounty hunter and his prisoner find shelter in a cabin currently inhabited by a collection of nefarious characters.

Director: Quentin Tarantino | Stars: Samuel L. Jackson, Kurt Russell, Jennifer Jason Leigh, Walton Goggins

Votes: 660,193 | Gross: $54.12M

Admittedly, QT is retreading some familiar ground with this (think Reservoir Dogs mixed with Django Unchained), but even then, a QT movie, even when its at its worst, is still a fantastic spectacle.
