Films of Coming Revolution / R3VOLUTION

by roark183 | created - 11 Apr 2013 | updated - 06 Mar 2021 | Public

Anyone, who has read my comments in the IMDb Question / Suggestion / Idea etc forum, knows that I do like to keep politics away from IMDb. I do like to simply use IMDb for entertainment purposes as much as possible.

That said, this is a film category that is VERY political at its very nature, and political commentary may not be avoided. Congressman Ron Paul started a revolution of ideas that is in progress. As he said, it is not a violent revolution, but one of ideas. It will be a revolution of ideas conflicting with the establishment's ideals. People will see truth and accept that truth instead of the deceit and duplicity shown by the establishment. By that means the establishment will collapse from lack of support. These films show that taking place.

I believe that most people will like the messages that these films portray. The general intent behind these films is to restore liberty to the United States and the rest of the world. I could get a great deal deeper into an explanation of that, but this essay is intended simply as a description of this list. I simply suggest people fully consider how liberty in ALL its aspects could / should / would be restored, and they will probably find the messages in these films align with those ideas and plans they come up with.

Due to the nature of this list, most of the films will be documentaries or stories based on some real incident or story. However, a few films will come along offering prophecy. In any case, these films either have had or I expect will have a broad effect.

I believe this list is in its infancy and many more films will soon be revealed, as we move toward a restoration of liberty. I would appreciate knowing of any films I may have missed, that one may think should be added.

Votes: 126,097 | Gross: $70.60M

2. JFK (1991)

R | 189 min | Drama, History, Thriller

72 Metascore

New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison discovers there's more to the Kennedy assassination than the official story.

Director: Oliver Stone | Stars: Kevin Costner, Gary Oldman, Jack Lemmon, Walter Matthau

Votes: 169,976 | Gross: $70.41M

3. The Matrix (1999)

R | 136 min | Action, Sci-Fi

73 Metascore

When a beautiful stranger leads computer hacker Neo to a forbidding underworld, he discovers the shocking truth--the life he knows is the elaborate deception of an evil cyber-intelligence.

Directors: Lana Wachowski, Lilly Wachowski | Stars: Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, Carrie-Anne Moss, Hugo Weaving

Votes: 2,054,251 | Gross: $171.48M

This film pretty famously promotes liberty. I don't want to overwhelm this list with its two subsequent sequels. The dichotomy of the "red pill versus the blue pill" has become widely known for showing the difference between liberty (red pill) and the apathetic (blue pill) public.

4. The Pentagon Papers (2003 TV Movie)

R | 99 min | Drama, History, Thriller

Defense worker Daniel Ellsberg seeks to publish a series of classified government documents detailing the true nature of America's involvement in the Vietnam War.

Director: Rod Holcomb | Stars: James Spader, Claire Forlani, Paul Giamatti, Alan Arkin

Votes: 1,543

This is the story of Daniel Ellsberg exposing the Pentagon Papers to the public and his trial, 1969 to 1973. The Pentagon Papers revealed the deceit & duplicity of the Johnson administration concerning the Vietnam War. They were classified documents that Ellsberg had access to and revealed to the NY Times. He was placed on trial for espionage and acquitted due to the government grossly mishandling the prosecution.

The story in this film is a little old for this list. However, Ellsberg is now revered as the Godfather of whistleblowers, and as such has led the way for current & future whistleblowers.

I must say I am a big fan of Claire Forlani, depicting Ellsberg's romantic interest in the film and eventual wife. I really like the part she played in the film and the way she played it.

5. The International (I) (2009)

R | 118 min | Action, Crime, Drama

52 Metascore

An Interpol agent attempts to expose a high-profile financial institution's role in an international arms dealing ring.

Director: Tom Tykwer | Stars: Clive Owen, Naomi Watts, Armin Mueller-Stahl, Ulrich Thomsen

Votes: 100,048 | Gross: $25.45M

This is not so much a story of revolution, but of taking down a major international bank. Since it is the banking industry that the R3VOLUTION is basically against, I deemed it appropriate.

The story line is true, and took place in the 1980s. It has been fictionalized for Hollywood's sake. That might make it seem a little old for this list, but in the case of banking, we are dealing with a really long term issue.

In addition there is important data in this film to understand what we are up against regarding the banking industry.

6. Fair Game (I) (2010)

PG-13 | 108 min | Biography, Drama, Thriller

69 Metascore

CIA operative Valerie Plame discovers her identity is allegedly leaked by the government as payback for an op-ed article her husband wrote criticizing the Bush administration.

Director: Doug Liman | Stars: Naomi Watts, Sean Penn, Sonya Davison, Vanessa Chong

Votes: 51,062 | Gross: $9.53M

This is a film about CIA agent Valerie Plame, played by Naomi Watts. She was burned by the government because her CIA unit was about to "... order the arrest of VP Dick Cheney ..." and other top US officials. http://journal-neo.org/2015/01/04/cia-torture-report-incriminates-dick-cheney/

7. Green Zone (2010)

R | 115 min | Action, Drama, Thriller

63 Metascore

Director: Paul Greengrass | Stars: Matt Damon, Jason Isaacs, Greg Kinnear, Igal Naor

Votes: 142,728 | Gross: $35.05M

I decided to add this film, as more whistleblowers are needed to get the US military out of the Middle East.

8. Atlas Shrugged: Part I (2011)

PG-13 | 97 min | Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi

28 Metascore

Railroad executive Dagny Taggart and steel mogul Henry Rearden form an alliance to fight the increasingly authoritarian government of the United States.

Director: Paul Johansson | Stars: Taylor Schilling, Grant Bowler, Matthew Marsden, Edi Gathegi

Votes: 14,321 | Gross: $4.75M

The first of a three part series, based on the 1957 novel, by Ayn Rand. Taylor Schilling does a fabulous job portraying Dagny Taggart. Schilling portrays Taggert with the determination and strength of intention to see herself through the trials facing her.

9. Runaway Slave (2012)

PG | 108 min | Documentary, History

A perpetual state of welfare exists in the U.S., creating a form of modern slavery for a large percentage of African-Americans. Rev. C.L. Bryant presents an insightful and compelling look at how freedom can be restored.

Director: Pritchett Cotten | Stars: C.L. Bryant, Christian Adams, Lem Anderson Jr., William J. Barber II

Votes: 300 | Gross: $0.05M

This film is a documentary that explains how government welfare programs have suppressed, not just the Black community, but the entire lower class. It explains that Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton and the NAACP do not have the interests of Black people in mind. Rather they are tools the establishment uses to continue suppression of the Black community. All the while the Black community wrongly thinks Jackson, Sharpton and the NAACP are helping the Black community. The film explains this.

C.L. Bryant, star in the film, was once a chapter president of the NAACP. In the film he travels across the country talking to Black leaders about how Blacks traded one form of slavery for another, yet Blacks are not even aware they are still under a type of slavery.

10. 2016: Obama's America (2012)

PG | 87 min | Documentary

26 Metascore

A documentary that examines the question, "If Barack Obama wins a second term, where will we be in 2016?"

Directors: Dinesh D'Souza, John Sullivan | Stars: Jay Bastian, Joe Biden, Cait Brasel, Gene Burris Jr.

Votes: 11,021 | Gross: $33.45M

I was pretty disappointed in this film. I fully expected it to be much harder hitting on Obama than it was. I expected the film to discuss treasonous & criminal acts that Obama has committed, but it does not, except his occupying the White House under the false pretense of being born in the United States.

There is a very extensive synopsis of the film on its webpage, so I needn't go into it much. The film shows that Obama was born outside the USA. It details the influence of Obama's true father on Obama's philosophy and how that philosophy is expected to shape Obama's second term as President.

11. Atlas Shrugged II: The Strike (2012)

PG-13 | 111 min | Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi

26 Metascore

Railroad owner Dagny Taggart and steel mogul Henry Rearden search desperately for the inventor of a revolutionary motor as the U.S. government continues to spread its control over the national economy.

Director: John Putch | Stars: Samantha Mathis, Jason Beghe, Esai Morales, Patrick Fabian

Votes: 7,643 | Gross: $3.34M

The second of a three part series, based on the 1957 novel, by Ayn Rand. I was severely disappointed in Samantha Mathis' portrayal of Dagny Taggart. Dagny is the key character in the story and should be shown with strong determination and zeal. Mathis almost puts the character in desperation, not at all as the character is portrayed in the novel. I was greatly disappointed that Taylor Schilling was not able to continue the role.

Jason Beghe plays Henry Rearden and does a very good job of that.

12. Still Mine (2012)

PG-13 | 102 min | Drama

72 Metascore

An elderly couple fight against local authorities in rural New Brunswick to build their final home.

Director: Michael McGowan | Stars: James Cromwell, Ronan Rees, Geneviève Bujold, Campbell Scott

Votes: 4,634 | Gross: $1.15M

This is a true story of an 80 year old man in New Brunswick, Canada, who defied the building codes and built his own new home, despite facing jail time for ignoring the codes. The fellow owned 2000 acres of forest land, so was even able to cut & dry the lumber for his house, because he couldn't afford to buy the lumber. The building inspector pointed out that the fellow's lumber was not stamped as being acceptable. But the fellow just kept right on building. The judge ruled in his favor with no jail time. He moved into his house when he finished it.

13. Dirty Wars (2013)

Not Rated | 87 min | Documentary, Crime, History

76 Metascore

Investigative journalist Jeremy Scahill is pulled into an unexpected journey as he chases down the hidden truth behind America's expanding covert wars.

Director: Rick Rowley | Stars: Jeremy Scahill, Nasser Al Aulaqi, Saleha Al Aulaqi, Muqbal Al Kazemi

Votes: 9,396 | Gross: $0.38M

Release date to be 7 June 2013 in theaters This film is a documentary that explores the US government's involvement in the "War on Terror".

Understanding what's behind the wars, that the US government conducts around the world, is important to understanding what is motivating the US government's domestic policy and it's false "War on Terror" within the US.

The film reveals the existence of JSOC (Joint Special Operations Command), a military unit that operates directly under the White House.

14. Silver Circle (2013)

PG-13 | 90 min | Animation, Thriller

21 Metascore

At the center of corruption is the Federal Reserve who has gained enormous amounts of control over America's economy, with disastrous effects beginning to show. Standing opposite, is the ... See full summary »

Director: Pasha Roberts | Stars: De'Lon Grant, Philana Mia, Peter Berkrot, Victor Shopov

Votes: 85 | Gross: $0.00M

This entire film was created on a $2M budget and is completely animated. Due to budget constraints the quality of animation is not as high as other animated films. So don't expect to see high quality animation.

This film is obviously fiction, while most of the films on this list are either documentaries or are largely based on true incidents. However, this film is rather singular at this time, for it is the only recent film I have seen promoting actual revolution against the establishment. It's about a government agent sent to investigate some bombings. He discovers the bombings were done by an underground group fighting the Federal Reserve. Yes, called "Federal Reserve" in the film, leaving no doubt about the intended target of revolution. He discovers the underground group to be the good guys and helps them out.

This film did receive the endorsement of Congressman Dr. Ron Paul. "Silver Circle" refers to the silver one ounce coins that the underground group mints and distributes in order to put real money back into circulation. Congressman Paul actually showed a silver circle coin to Ben Bernanke in a Congressional hearing. Prophetic???

15. We Steal Secrets (2013)

R | 130 min | Documentary

76 Metascore

A documentary that details the creation of Julian Assange's controversial website, which facilitated the largest security breach in U.S. history.

Director: Alex Gibney | Stars: Julian Assange, Adrian Lamo, John 'FuzzFace' McMahon, Alex Gibney

Votes: 8,178 | Gross: $0.16M

Release date to be 24 May 2013 in theaters This film is a documentary, depicting the creation of WikiLeaks.

Oliver Stone, director of JFK, 1991 film concerning the Kennedy assassination, actually met with Julian Assange in the Ecuadorian embassy in early April 2013, where Assange is being held up. Stone has been critical about the release of this film.

This is a great film showing the history of Wikileaks.

Director: J. Neil Schulman | Stars: Kevin Sorbo, Christian Kramme, Reid Cox, Said Faraj

I haven't seen this film yet. However, it is billed as the collapse of the dollar as seen by a 16 year old kid.

17. Atlas Shrugged: Who Is John Galt? (2014)

PG-13 | 99 min | Drama, Mystery, Sci-Fi

Director: James Manera | Stars: Kristoffer Polaha, Laura Regan, Rob Morrow, Peter Mackenzie

Votes: 3,891 | Gross: $0.85M

(due to be released Sept 2014) The third film in a three part series, based on the 1957 novel, by Ayn Rand. Ron Paul is in the film, along with Matt Kibbe.

Sean Hannity & Glenn Beck are also reputed to be in the film, no doubt attempting to portray themselves as Tea Party advocates. Yeah, right.

18. Citizenfour (2014)

R | 114 min | Documentary, Biography

88 Metascore

A documentarian and a reporter travel to Hong Kong for the first of many meetings with Edward Snowden.

19. Kill the Messenger (2014)

R | 112 min | Biography, Crime, Drama

60 Metascore

Journalist Gary Webb, California 1996, started investigating CIA's role in the 1980s in getting crack cocaine to the black part of LA to get money and weapons to the Contra insurgents in Nicaragua.

Director: Michael Cuesta | Stars: Jeremy Renner, Robert Patrick, Jena Sims, Robert Pralgo

Votes: 48,763 | Gross: $2.45M

This is the story of a journalist who was killed by the establishment. Such murders are happening with increasing frequency. Journalism is thus becoming a dangerous profession, not due to the journalist being in the thick of the fighting, but because of the government of which the journalist is a citizen.

I have yet to see the film.

20. Unfair: Exposing the IRS (2014)

TV-PG | 80 min | Documentary

Director: Judd Saul | Stars: David Barton Jr., Craig Bergman, Adryana Boyne, Karen Cashion

Votes: 68

I saw this film on its initial release. It promotes the idea of replacing the IRS with the "Fair Tax", a national sales tax in place of the income tax.

While I very much favor the idea explained in the film, I am really worried about the real intentions behind the film. People such as Mike Huckabee, Michelle Bachman, Glenn Beck and Ted Cruz are prominently featured in the film.

Yet no one, who is REALLY behind the REAL liberty movement, is featured in the film. There is no mention of Ron Paul or Matt Kibbe. Rand Paul is only shown in a 5-second news clip. No mention of Justin Amash or Thomas Massie. The film only shows war-mongering individuals. I ask myself why is this?

21. Little Pink House (2017)

98 min | Drama

55 Metascore

A woman fights a group trying to evict her whole neighborhood and give it to a corporation. In a close decision, the Supreme Court favors the evictions. The corporation never builds anything on the site of her demolished home.

Director: Courtney Balaker | Stars: Callum Keith Rennie, Catherine Keener, Jeanne Tripplehorn, Giacomo Baessato

Votes: 1,094 | Gross: $0.22M

This is a fictional drama about chemtrails, that I have not seen.

IMDb does not yet have a release date, so the film may or may not have yet been released. The last update at IMDb was 18 Jan 2016.

This is a film that could be very dangerous for the lives of the producers and that may be a factor in the lack of release.
