Stars: Vince Vaughn, Colin Farrell, Rachel McAdams, Taylor Kitsch

Votes: 656,910

Season 1 was arguably the best TV of the Millennium so far. Matthew McConaughys role in the first season of True Detective was, for me, the greatest TV show performance, ever.

Season 2 did not live up to season 1 in any way, shape of form.

Votes: 470,608

After watching season 1 I felt it was IMPOSSIBLE for Netflix to make a second season that could possibly be better. However Netflix must have heard me say this, as Season 2 of Narcos knocked me off my feet! Similarly with such a change to the series story-line in season 3, the show continued to ooze greatness.

Probably Netflix's best original production, and they will be hard pushed to create a better original series.

Great chemistry. Type of show that after every episode you just immediately want to watch the next episode! Clary and Jace, Maia and Simon, Alec and Magnus - all have great relationships together throughout the show. Season 1 and 2 are very 'The CW-esque'.

Netflix Original 'Evil Genius: The True Story of America's Most Diabolical Bank Heist' gives a fascinating look into what is one of the strangest crime cases in U.S History. Only a 4 episode series - the concept of the series was great - just lacked that climatic ending

Stars: Tyler Posey, Holland Roden, Dylan O'Brien, Linden Ashby

Votes: 163,324

What a thrill. It'll lift you up with euphoria, and take you down with misery. Heartbreaking to watch it finish. One of those shows you wish would never end, but all good things come to an end. When watching season one I was somewhat iffy about the show. As time went by it grew on me. I gave it a chance, and it delivered.

Whether it be Scott and Stiles, Scott and Allison, Stiles and Malia, Stiles and Lydia, Scott and Kira, Scott and Malia, Liam and Hayden, Liam and Scott, Melissa and Scott, Stiles and the Sheriff - there are endless partnerships and relationships throughout the show the tug at your heartstrings. A show that got the chemistry between characters right.

Endless characters coming and going, constant drama, always leaving you with the urge to know more. One of those shows where it had me putting my hands on my head saying "nah. nah. nah. no way, nope, nah, no, no, no, no, nah". As I said above, it'll break your heart. As Buzzfeed described the sadness of the show "In conclusion, Jeff Davis is an evil genius".

The comedy and 'violence' is very CW-esque, but I'm a sucker for stuff like that! The show carried a lot of change, especially from season 3/4 on wards. When watching the final season of the show and I watch back on clips from earlier seasons I'm left baffled by the character development. I also lay an ode to S05E01 for crushing my heart, and the hearts of many more, into a million different pieces.

Also, some really great song choices throughout the show!

41. Arrested Development (2003–2019)

Stars: Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi, Will Arnett

Votes: 324,315

Believe the hype, its comedy gold.

The first 3 seasons were comedic genius. The Bluth family will go down in television history. The ageing between the first 3 seasons to season 4 and 5 is a frightening reminder of how depressing ageing will be for us all.

42. Sherlock (2010–2017)

TV-14 | 90 min | Crime, Drama, Mystery

The quirky spin on Conan Doyle's iconic sleuth pitches him as a "high-functioning sociopath" in modern-day London. Assisting him in his investigations: Afghanistan War vet John Watson, who's introduced to Holmes by a mutual acquaintance.

Stars: Benedict Cumberbatch, Martin Freeman, Una Stubbs, Rupert Graves

Votes: 999,275

Sherlock Holmes has been played by various actors since his conception in 1880's by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, however no-one plays Sherlock like Benedict Cumberbatch.

The chemistry of Cumberbatch and Freeman is something that is hard to match in TV History. As the show spins the essence of Sherlock by presenting it in modern day London, Cumberbatch and Freeman carry the show smoothly from one episode to the next.

The hype around the show is justified, it really is THAT good.

43. The Good Place (2016–2020)

TV-PG | 1,303 min | Comedy, Drama, Fantasy

A fascinating insight into one of the most interesting, and disturbed killers in U.S. killers. Netflix did a great job in giving viewers a deeper look into Bundy's life. They did not try paint him in a lighter shade, nor try humanism the monster he was, which was a great achievement on Netflix's part!

Stars: Ben Platt, Zoey Deutch, Lucy Boynton, Julia Schlaepfer

Votes: 24,568

To understand The Politician, one might first need to understand Ryan Murphy. Like his other creations such as Glee, and American Horror Story, The Politician takes stylistic directions from both shows but channels them through the High School political system. Weird, not eery, but entertaining.

If season 1 wasn't wild enough already, wait until you see season 2!

Stars: Joel McHale, Danny Pudi, Donald Glover, Chevy Chase

Votes: 293,621

Season 1-3 is filled with great writing, complimented with greater cast chemistry. As season 4 became the 'gasleak' season, 5 and 6 never found a way to return to the original seasons despite trying its best. Still very watchable, and worth watching until the end due to the genius of season 1-3. Chang and the Dean are two incredible characters, who helped carry the show from episode to episode despite only being recurring cast. #SixSeasonsAndAMovie

Better than better. Netflix masterpiece. Ranked 2nd of best Netflix originals for me behind Narcos.

More often than not when traditionally comedic actors make the jump to serious drama/thriller content it turns out disastrous. However this is truly Jason Bateman like you've never seen him before. Out of his comedy comfort-zone he thrives as a constantly under pressure yet resilient family man, who also happens to be money laundering for the second largest Mexican drug cartel. Every episode leaves you wanting more. Well documented character developments, with each side story throughout the series playing out well.

Master of none - a phrase that cannot be attributed to Aziz Ansari after watching this. Filled with moments of laughs and jaw clenching cringe, Aziz Ansari works his master class in this series. Highly recommendable Netflix original.

Any fault would be there is not enough scenes with Aziz Ansari and Eric Wareheim, a tribute to their incredible on-screen chemistry.

Stars: Steve Carell, Jenna Fischer, John Krasinski, Rainn Wilson

Votes: 712,357

When somebody watches as much television shows, and movies as I have, over time you can find it harder and harder to find something you enjoy. Inherently the level raises for what on screen will give you entertainment satisfaction. I had often heard about this show. I had also often heard phrases like 'oh the British version is better', 'it's just a typical U.S. version'. In 2021 I finally got the opportunity to watch this show, and I must say it is better than the British version. However it's better than any version, heck it might be the best comedy series I have ever seen, and among the best series I have ever seen in general.

There are shows that make me laugh. Like the sentiment mentioned above, the level for laughs raises with each show and film I watch. Despite this, The Office provided me with laughs - consistent laughs. It went from more than being 'something to throw on in the background', to instead everything else except The Office belongs in the background. A masterclass ensemble that is unmatched. Joy from episode 1 to episode 201. Steve Carrell, Rainn Wilson, John Krasinski and everybody else somehow got better each season. Even when new characters were introduced, the show continued to get better, with each new addition feeling as though they belonged the whole time. **Spoiler** Even when a big departure occurred in Season 7, season's 8 and 9 held out and tucked us in for enjoyable viewings.

From humorous moments such as 'try my gookie-googkie', the infamous fire drill, Michael held up in his king chair, Oscar choking on coffee when Kevin nearly spills the secret, and Michael reacting to China having the world's tallest man - to emotional scenes such as a wet wedding proposal in the Annex, the **spoiler** going away song, to Jim telling Dwight to follow his heart as it has always been set on that somebody, The Office again and again produced scenes that tug at every string in you.

Nothing can match it, nothing will match it.

Votes: 19,999

A miniseries which could have been 'mini-er'. A hard pushed Netflix investigative piece that could have been told in 100 minutes. Episode 1 and 2 are definitely worth watching, 3-4 can be skipped due to its overreaching theories on this case.

Freddie Fox presents himself as an English Patrick Bateman with his chilling performance as the infamous Bamber-killer of Essex. A TV-interesting and easily digestive ITV six-part mini series.

79. Parks and Recreation (2009–2015)

TV-14 | 22 min | Comedy

The absurd antics of an Indiana town's public officials as they pursue sundry projects to make their city a better place.

Stars: Amy Poehler, Jim O'Heir, Nick Offerman, Chris Pratt

Votes: 288,128

If the Office wasn't enough, Michael Schur confirms with Park and Rec his work is unmatchable in contemporary TV comedy. Following the lives of an unlikely group who work for the good of the public, Leslie Knope leads and inspires those around her for seven seasons.

***Spoilers*** What glued me most to this series was its continued success in growth. After the early departure of Paul Schneider playing Mark Brendanawicz, I feared losing such a character would negatively impact the chemistry of the show. Often series struggle with this, but the additions of Rob Lowe and Adam Scott (in the voice of Chris Taregar) literally shot the show into a whole new stratosphere. With these two integrated into the series the cast chemistry was solidified for Schur and co. to write as they please. The diverse nature of the series reoccurring characters in Jean-Ralphio, Joan, Craig, Tammy 2, and Barney among others continued to inject the series with a fresh enthusiasm every now again to an already electric cast.

Comedy-driven, viewers occasionally are met with realities that thug at our hearts. Through the laughs, the romances, and beautiful friendships, Parks and Rec offers a near perfect blend for viewers.

A side ode: While there were many great episodes throughout, Episode 4 of Season 7 " Leslie and Ron" stood out to me as an episode with emotion built up that I have rarely seen in any series on this list. At a deeper look it reminds us we are all watching a series like Parks and Rec because we enjoy a comedy series. Comedy series build us up and bring us joy. In an ever-changing and challenging world series like this offer us escapes. In this episode Ron shows us that even those who build themselves up to protect themselves from the cruelty this world can show, and the disappointment people can give us, fundamentally want to be with the ones they love, the ones who love them, the ones who make life easier. For in this life we can watch every comedy series there is, and we can escape every time. However in the real world we can't live in such a series, but with the right people around, life is worth living and enjoying for.

(Too much of a) slow burner, with attempts at long-shots that would make Hitchcock and Kubrick weep. Despite this three main star acting performances throughout the mini-series, and a deep twisted which fast-tracked the last two episodes turned this series around and made the entire series worth a watch.

TV-MA | 30 min | Comedy, Crime

Three petty felons have a documentary made about their life in a trailer park.

Stars: John Paul Tremblay, Robb Wells, Mike Smith, John Dunsworth

Votes: 50,652

Despite there being 105 episodes, spanning over 18 years, all condensed into 12 seasons, it will never be enough time to fully enjoy following the lives of Ricky, Julian, and Bubbles in the Sunnyvale Trailer Park.

From watching the hilarious and mischievous day-to-day antics of the main trio, and seeing the scorn they continually caused the likes of Mr. Leahy and Randy, the entire ensemble of Trailer Park Boys has a chemistry unmatched in TV comedy.

As we grow with the characters, so too does the show. The longevity of the show can be attributed to the incredible writing that kept the show and its humour alive for so long. The shows cinematography, as it is shot in a mocumentary style way with a camera crew following the characters, was a trailblazing idea that was executed perfectly.

Hearing iconic lines such as “I Am The Liquor”, “Just one more little drinky-poo”, “way of the road”, and “A Shit River Runs Through It” immediately floods any fan with humours memories from throughout the show.

When people say ‘they don’t make shows like this anymore’ – this is the show they are talking about. Trailer Park Boys ranks among the giants in the all-time greatest TV series, and rightly so.
